My father sent me a photo he took of this cat passing by. He must have startled the cat, because the cat looks real stunned. The photo begged for a caption...so I added it. See you next year!!

The sun sets on 23 Dec here in Dubai and I've just put some simplistic decorations up. Including these two stockings that mum made for me 25 years ago. These go up without fail every year. That's when nostalgia sets in...

And this is how they put the finishing touches on the #risotto at Zest on the Palm .... Chef Leonard talked me through what they are doing. So once the risotto is prepared, they scoop it all into this huge 'bin' of parmesan, and let it kinda melt till they serve it topped with more #parmesan. Every Monday, Zest restaurant has an Italian theme night which is buffet style. Thinking of doing more short videos with me in them, just to shuffle things around. Would you be interested in such videos where I introduce the food or the artist or the event that I'm covering? I just want it to be one thing: Fun and light hearted. During a brisk early morning walk to my work destination, I came across Her. Such a contrast to the rotting flower in the background. A promise of renewal for 2017!

He's got a lovely bunch of bananas, laadidaadidaa. That's my dad and that's the bunch of Indian bananas that he's just plucked from their trees. Aaah. If only to have my own garden, scrunch soil in my hands, breathe the freshly cut grass, plant seeds, listen to the birds or pass by a straying mongoose.... Yes, if only to have my own garden. Only thing is I'd have to kiss a good manicure goodbye!

After a meeting, colleagues and I found ourselves at the Calicut Notebook restaurant in Barsha 1 #Dubai. I'd never been there before. I believe its quite a popular place. Apart from #avial I've never really had Keralite food. This video shows how John Thomas who served us makes an interesting appetizer, for want of a better word. He loads the leaf with peanut, spicy chillies, ginger slices, dried coconut strips and onion. He rolls it up and it now looks like a leafy bag. Have it with a #jaggery and peppery drink and your lungs get warm and stomach feels the hunger pangs coming on. I didn't eat it, no, not with these many onions, but I sure like the main course and service. @calicutnotebook . . #keralitefood #calicut #keralacuisine #keralafood #keralafoodindubai #keralafoodies (at Calicut Notebook - Al Barsha)

Who's that girl? ME! Standing in front of a huge photo of the Father of the Nation (of the UAE), the late HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, at the old Abu Dhabi #Corniche. The UAE was a young country, not more than 11 years old then. Every year, my parents, and I and then my brothers, we'd all head to the Corniche gardens in Abu Dhabi and spend hours just looking at the building lights and walking around the volcano fountain. Dec 2 has become quite a nostalgic time for me now. Photo taken by my photographer dad. . . . . #feelingpatriotic #UAEnationalday #abudhabivolcanofountain #FatheroftheNation

Throwback to Big5 construction conference in Dubai. When they wanted to wrap the safety belts and gear like a diaper and I started to feel shy. I was at the crane machine by Rapid Access which takes you to 24 m to see the view. For that they need to ensure that you are properly and safely geared, yes even if you are wearing a dress. The view from the top at 24 m was interesting.... Burj Khalifa at a distance. Cooler air at higher height. (at Dubai World Trade Centre)

At Big5 conference last week, met Wizzo, the first humanoid robot by DigiRobotic Technologies, created for DPWorld. The prototype answered visitor questions. She will soon learn (or be programmed) 14 languages. Big5 is the region's biggest construction and building conference. . . .
