Truly imagine you’re Ethan and you’ve just crashed a helicopter into another helicopter and fist fought a guy in the mountains and shattered like eighty percent of your bones because you’re so old and you wake up in your hospital bed to find your living dead ex wife, your work wife, and your twin flame soulmate all looking after you. At what point do you assume you died on that mountain
#the work wife is Luther and the twin flame soulmate is Ilsa do NOT get it twisted#<- wouldn't have thought it any other way#mission impossible

Honestly a lot of the gripes I have with Dead Reckoning and the Final Reckoning I would forgive if only for the simple fact these films didn't push a chosen one/destiny kind of narrative
I've never been a massive fan of those kinds of themes and even less so when that theme is slapped on in a later work rather than intentionally being in it from the beginning. Obviously consistency will always be an issue when multiple people over a long period of time are helming a franchise with little to no communication with previous leaders, but I will always argue that some random guy who is just unlucky enough to get into a situation but still chooses to step up and do the right thing is just more compelling than "this is what you were always meant to do/this is your destiny" ect ect
Plus just not a fan of the IMF being portrayed as this noble choice when that doesn't match at all with the previous entries
#HARD agree#Was tryna write this idea in a post in my drafts even but didn't know how to word it exactly#But yeh exact#mission impossible

can someone discover time travel so they can go back in time and make tom cruise do more mission Impossible films. I don't think we needed some of his other films tbh. and I think my good friend ethan hunt had more to say. certainly I would have enjoyed seeing him be thrown around and running along long stretches of buildings a bit more
#BIG fan of what you're putting down#I need to think about this fr fr#mission impossible#And ethan getting a nap and pt and downtime? Clock me the fuck in#Hard agree about ilsa tho truly and I'm NEVER saying no to Luther and ethan power couple of the IMF

deeply fascinated by the queer aspect of werewolf of london (1935). picking up a disease during a brief meeting 'in the dark' with a man far from home (much to be said for classical bram stoker style fear of the racialised other here as well). the societal threat of the homosexual. the petrifying fear of being one, the desperate search for a cure. the homosexual preying on other men, but even worse preying on women in society, even his own wife! yes, the homosexual could be anyone. being unable to make one's wife happy, therefore finally finding virtue in death. only then can the homosexual serve society. CAN ANYONE HEAR ME.
