Geraskier fans who only watched Netflix show usually write their dynamic as chaotic diva girlfriend Jaskier and suffering boyfriend Geralt trying to find right answer to trap questions archetypes.
Come here. Closer. Even closer. Now listen, I'm about to blow your mind
In the books, their dynamic, it's the opposite. If that ship was written in books, it's Geralt who would ask stuff like "would you love me if I was a worm" and get mad at Jaskier over conversations that didn't happen but Geralt imagined them anyway and got upset. Jaskier would bribe him with sweets before apologizing even though he has absolutely no idea what he did wrong.
No, that witcher isn't brooding in the corner while the bard is performing. That witcher is choosing one of thousand ways to accuse the bard of trying to attract other witchers. Why? Because new lute strings. Who are you trying to attract with that shine? So what if there aren't any other witchers for miles? How do you know that anyway, did you specifically check if they are here? I'm not enough for you?
I find it abso-fucking-lutely hilarious. Because from outsider perspective they still would seem exactly as netflix-based version of this ship is written

Just started watching Sirens of the Deep and immediately wanted Geralt to spare the poor creature that attacked him - I really liked that the Merpeople explained that the poor thing wasn't malicious and was just a wounded animal. Geralt showing mercy really makes me like him as a character. Also, I love anything to do with the sea, so I still can't quite believe they made a whole animated movie about that aspect of the Witcher world!

I guess I’ve always assumed Jaskier was born into nobility, a younger child of a minor noble in the middle of nowhere, BUT after Sirens of the Deep, I think it would’ve been really funny if he had been bestowed the title at some point during his travels for some sort of accidental heroism.
Imagine Geralt doing the work but when the Noble turns around he sees Jaskier standing there and assumes the bard is his savior. Imagine Geralt going along with it because he hates the praise but knows Jaksier would totally lean into it.
Heck, I half was waiting for King Usveldt to bestow the title on him during the end of Sirens of the Deep. Jaskier would be so proud, of course he would share it with all the new people they meet, like Yarpen. Or maybe it would be funnier if the title was bestowed by dwarven royalty and that’s why he only mentions it to Yarpen…
As an aside: I still do believe Jaskier’s family grew up with money somehow. Who else would gift their child a string instrument and not teach him the proper care? Watching him carry his lutes near all that water? Anxiety inducing.

When Jaskier went "What'd I miss?" I was half expecting a creepy, wet Geralt with potion eyes to turn around, and I immediately thought of the "CREEPY OR WET??" post
(it gave me joy)

One thing I really appreciate about Sirens of the Deep is just the genuine care between Essi and Jaskier.
Like, when Essi was performing and Jaskier decided to join in I got so scared they were about to have a massive argument over Jaskier stealing the spotlight and whatnot
And that doesn’t happen. Because he knew her well enough to know that he wasn’t crossing any boundaries, and they were able to have an actual duet and both really enjoy it.
Genuine, healthy, close friendships. Between a male and a female character, no less. It’s so rare to see but so beautiful

no bc im genuinely so fucking happy they're keeping jaskier seeing essi like a sister

I always worried that if they adapted a little sacrifice they'd make their bond romantic and I DREADED that so. occasionally. sometimes. on the ever so often chance. from time to time. I Fucking Win.

I love how the camera cuts to Jaskier as Geralt is saying "...retelling the story so it wasn't their fault."

It's not even just Witcher Content. It's Witcher Content that feels like it came out of the 2020-2021 only-season-one (and s2 crumbs) era of the witcher that dragged me by the heels into two year long obsession. It's Nostalgic Witcher Content. I love it.

people bitching about the show giving jaskier a more concrete backstory as if it completely goes against his virtually nonexistent backstory in the books is rly giving "didn't read the books and/or their knowledge of dandelion/jaskier is actually based off of fanon and headcanon that's been repeated ad nauseam by the fandom as if it's canon" vibes tbh

idk why ppl are so mad about this movie. season one nostalgia? season one jaskier making me laugh? geralt and jaskier sharing one coin and even less brain cells?

I feel like there are two sides to the Witcher fandom I see on social media - the side that hates and loathes everything Netflix does and the side that loves and defends everything that Netflix does.
My good dudes, I am just here for Geraskier and to get away from the world. I enjoy many parts of Netflix, and there are also parts I don’t enjoy at all (even ones popular with my corner of the fandom!) Tumblr tends to be the place where I can find more of a balance and filter for content I like, so here I be.
Because of a high stress 12 hour work day and packing for a convention, I don’t know when I’ll watch Sirens of the Deep. I’m very excited for it though I’m raising a brow at certain details leaked. At the end of the day, all I want is a good time.
I hope everyone looking forward enjoys, and I’m excited to roam around Katsucon Saturday night in Geraskier mode with my other half.
