listen to me yap ❤️
“i’m laughing like spring” is such a strange and beautiful simile (i love it smmm) - it doesn’t just describe a feeling, it shows a full on transformationn. laughing like spring isn’t just laughing hard or laughing freely, it’s laughing in a way that feels literally restoring, like something inside you is waking up after being asleep too long. it’s the kind of joy that feels new and soft and full of light.
spring is the season of rebirth, of warmth creeping back in, of colour returning to a gray (sorry i like puns) world - so to laugh like spring means b’s presence is healing. they’re not just funny, they’re life-giving.
conan could’ve said anything but spring is quieter. it’s not just about happiness - it’s about hope. it’s about thawing after cold. it implies that something was frozen before, and now, because of them, it isn’t anymore. and that’s what makes this line hurt in the softest way: it’s not just about laughing at a joke. it’s about the kind of love that brings you back to life.
“i’m laughing like spring” also holds a kind of emotional vulnerability that’s easy to miss. laughter is often spontaneous, but spring takes time. it creeps in, slowly, quietly - a little sunlight here, a little flower there. so when conan says he’s laughing like spring, it doesn’t feel like a sudden outburst. it feels like a careful, earned joy - like this person has chipped away at his walls over time. made him feel things he wasn't able to before.
there’s also something beautifully tragic about it. because spring is lovely, yes, but it also doesn’t last. it’s fragile, transitional. and maybe that’s part of it too - that he knows this moment is temporary, that this joy is something they’re passing through, not something they get to stay in.
i swear i’m normal about this line.
