Activity August

Description:

Our next biking trip took place on the 2nd of August. Our route included some piersquared landscapes, windmills and canals. We also visited Gouda – a small Dutch town. This time, we managed to cycle 40 kilometers, with an average speed of 13 km/h, due to the strong wind that we encountered.

Reflection:

Cycling in the Netherlands is particularly easy, as there is a plethora of good-quality paths, which are signed well. We cycled from our place to Gouda solely following the signs for cyclists and reached the town with ease. Our rote involved some peaceful countryside, with cows, horses and sheep. Overall, it was a pretty nice trip!

Activity August

Description:

Together with my parents, I visited the Netherlands in August. We did a lot of bike trips and on the 1st of August we cycled around rural areas and visited fields with beautiful flowers. Overall, we managed to cycle 50 kilometers on that day. This trip was fun, as we also spent time in nature, biking in the forest.

Reflection:

Cycling is one of the activities me and my parents like to do together. Our average speed was around 15 km/h, which in my opinion is a good outcome. I haven’t cycled for a while, so doing this activity again was especially enjoyable. During the trip we saw some amazing flowers, which I captured with a camera in my phone!

Creativity August

Description:

I came back to writing the song Could You Please Comfort Me? on the 8th of August. I came up with some rhymes for the bridge of my song, together with a clever plot-twist of the lyrics’ meaning. I finished it with a chorus, but this time I slightly changed it. I am proud of what I have accomplished so far!

Reflection:

Since I had wanted to send my poems/lyrics for a competition to have them judged by professionals, I did an internet research and found a suitable contest for me. I sent a couple of my pieces and now wait for the results. I believe that this is the next step in developing my passion and I’m excited to see where it will take me!

Creativity August

Description:

On the 3rd of August I started writing a song called Could You Please Comfort Me?, inspired by the reflections about life and love. I like its beginning, because it’s thought-provoking, serving as a hook. The concept for a song like that has been in my head for a while, so I’m glad that I finally expressed my ideas as lyrics.

Reflection:

This time I decided to play a lot with rhetorical devices. In the beginning of the song, I used metonymy, which is one of my favourite devices. Song-writing expands my poetry skills and enables me to apply what I have learned during Polish literature lessons in practice. I think I am going to come back to those lyrics in a couple of days, to give myself time to come up with some new, fresh ideas.

Activity July

Description:

Sailing on the 10th of July was a particularly challenging experience, due to the heavy wind and rain. We sailed on Mikołajskie Lake, solely using the sails. There were great lists and we all were wearing life-jackets. Although demanding, this activity was also a lot of fun.

Reflection:

This day especially taught me resilience and the importance of obeying the leader, in this case – the captain – in situations where safety is at risk. Moreover, we all advanced our sailing skills, got to know how it is like sailing in rough conditions and learned about the importance of a great team.

Creativity July

Description:

As I predicted yesterday, on the 23rd of July I continued writing the song I Can’t Stop Them To Stare and also finished it. In its ending verses I added the lines inspired not only by my night visions, but also by my actual thoughts and experiences. It was a really rewarding experience to write those lyrics!

Reflection:

By writing this song I hope to prevent my recurring nightmare from returning. Since art had once worked that way for me, I believe that this time it will also be helpful. I am looking forward to new inspirations for a new song!

Activity July

Description:

From 6th to 12th of July I took part in a cruise on the Mazurian Lakes, where I was a part of a crew. On the 7th of July we sailed on the Negocin Lake. My responsibilities involved setting the sails and hauling away. I am glad that I had the opportunity to do this activity this summer!

Reflection:

It was my 4th time in my life sailing on a yacht. I find this activity both rewarding and quite demanding. Fortunately, I had a wonderful crew, which became my close friends after a week. This experience was more than just a sport: it was a lesson of collaboration with others and a team-building activity.

Creativity July

Description:

On the 22nd of July I started writing my new piece of lyrics – the song I titled I Can’t Stop Them To Stare. It is very unique for me and distinct from my other songs, as it is based on the compilation of a dream and a recurring nightmare that I had. It’s full of metaphors and phrases with a double meaning.

Reflection:

Starting to write this song was an experience unlike any other – after waking up from a dream I had a vision of a new song in my head. After waking up, I quickly grabbed my phone and started writing the first lines of the song in my notes app. I believe that I am going to continue writing this song tomorrow and probably even finish it on that day!

CAS Project – Reflection 27.06.2025

Description:

After our CAS Project was finished, I, together with my team, talked about what were the strengths and limitations of our actions. We reflected upon the entire process and discussed our accomplishments. I also did my individual reflection, analyzing the project, in order to improve my actions when I will engage in similar opportunities in the future.

Reflection:

Thanks to this project I developed several learning outcomes. I took on new challenges – organizing a fundraiser, donating quilts, sheets and pillows – and developed new skills, such as managing a bake sale or working in cooperation with a single mothers house. I planned and initiated activities – the „Healthy Sleep Day” and the fundraiser. I worked collaboratively with others, including not only my project team, but also the students of our school and staff at „Dom Samotnej Matki w Chyliczkach”. Moreover, I showed perseverance and commitment, as the project spanned more than 3 months. What is more, I engaged in issues of global importance, as I donated items necessary for a good-quality sleep for an underprivileged community. When it comes to the IB learner profile, I was caring as I showed empathy towards single mothers and their needs. Organizing the „Healthy Sleep Day” required me to be open minded to come up with an innovative approach to teaching the youth about the ways to practice good-quality sleep. Finally, I was a communicator, when working with my team and when communicating with the school community about the bake sale.

CAS Project – Action 10.04.2025 and 26.06.2025

Description:

The bake sale was a huge success – a lot of students brought cakes for sale, and even more people bought something sweet. Overall, we managed to fundraise 827 zł! Using those funds, Alex bought pijamas, quilts and sheets for single mothers that we later donated to „Dom Samotnej Matki w Chyliczkach”, by visiting the facility. Moreover, on the 26th of June, together with Julia Lewandowska and Alex we conducted a „Healthy Sleep Day” that we organized by ourselves. The event included a workshop with a school psychologist about healthy sleep, a mindfulness workshop and a debate. It was a day full of meaningful activities!

Reflection:

Before the bake sale I was a bit stressed that there won’t be enough cakes for sale, but fortunately a lot of people brought something sweet for sale and the event turned out to be a success. As we delivered the sleep items to single mothers, I felt that we were doing a very important job that directly helped the women in need and positively influenced their lives. The „Healthy Sleep Day” was the initiative that aimed to help the students of our school implement the practices of a healthy sleep and I hope that the people who took part in it will benefit from the knowledge they gained.

Service June

Description:

The end of the school year ceremony took place on the 27th of June. I arrived 1 hour before the start to check with Ms. Blicharska if everything works properly. As the celebration was starting, I felt excited. The entire event ran smoothly, without any delays. At the end, I was proud of myself and felt very accomplished. Many teachers approached me and congratulated me for hosting the ceremony.

Reflection:

Hosting this event was a first experience like that for me. Thanks to it, I learned a lot about public speaking, keeping the proper diction and body posturę. I am truly happy and honoured that my role as a school prime minister gives me such extraordinary opportunities. The congratulations that I received from the teachers were truly kind and served as valuable feedback for me. I hope to engage in more opportunities like that in the future!

Activity June

Description:

On the 21st of June I visited my grandparents, who live in the Warsaw suburbs. I went for a long stroll with my granddad, during which we stopped to feed ducks with corn grains. The ducks seemed to be very happy with our surprise and willingly ate the snack, also coming very close to where we were sitting. Afterwards, we continued our stroll and walked around a forest, eventually returning home.

Reflection:

This activity was truly enjoyable for me, as I both got to do something healthy for my body and spent quality time with my grandpa. Moreover, I connected with nature, by feeding the ducks with food that is beneficial for them (unlike the bread). During the stroll, I talked a lot with my grandpa, spending time in the forest, which I really needed after long hours of studying yesterday.

Creativity June

Description:

After a one-week break, on the 14th of June, I continued writing my song "Bad Weather". I wrote the bridge and the outro. I am especially proud of those parts of the song, as I managed to come up with unique metaphors, used a lot of rhetorical devices and ended the song with a message to the reader/listener. I am looking forward to starting to write more lyrics!

Reflection:

Song-writing enables me to transfer my emotions and mood into a form of art. Sometimes it works also as a form of therapy. As I read the poems of other writers, I always look for a deeper meaning or a hidden message: hence, I am thrilled to have done it by myself, in my own art!

Service June

Description:

On the 9th of June I was asked by the principal of our school to host the end of the school year ceremony. I felt truly honoured to be able to engage in this activity and after a few days I had a meeting with Ms. Blicharska and she gave me a general plan of the ceremony. During my free period at school, I wrote a plan of what I was going to say during the celebration, my short speeches, the greetings etc. After I finished writing, I printed my plan.

Reflection:

This experience taught me about planning public speaking as well as taught me collaboration skills. It was at first challenging to come up with the plan, but as soon as I started writing, it only got easier. After I was finished with the writing, I read my plan several Times to myself in order to memorize it. What is more, I trained speaking at home to check if my plan requires any changes. I am really looking forward to the celebration!

Activity June

Description:

On the 19th of June I went roller-blading. I departed from home and roller-bladed along the Vistula embankment. Surprisingly, there weren’t many people, so my activity was easier and more enjoyable. I did quite a lengthy route – I started in Żoliborz district, roller-bladed to the Poniatowski Bridge and went all the way back. It was a very refreshing activity!

Reflection:

It was my second time roller-balading in this season. Choosing a Vistula embankment was a great idea, as there is plenty of space for people roller-blading, cyclists and pedestrians. After I reached the Poniatowski Bridge, I decided to turn back, science behind the bridge started to get narrow and crowded. I am sure that I will repeat this activity soon!

Creativity June

Description:

Throughout June, July and August I decided to focus on my other hobby, when it comes to creativity – song-writing. On the 7th of June I started writing the lyrics to the song I titled „Bad Weather”. It was truly satisfying to come back to this wonderful passion!

Reflection:

Song-writing is not only my hobby, but also something I would like to do in the future, professionally. As I write the lyrics in English, this activity is also sometimes challenging for me, since I often have to use a dictionary to find the words that would exactly convey the intended meaning. The song I have just started writing is based on my personal feelings and experiences, therefore being very personal and intimate.

CAS Project - Preparation 07.04.2025

Description:

On the 7th of April I printed posters, informing about the bakesale that was scheduled to take place in our school on the 10th of April. Together with Alex Belowska, I hung posters in the hall and in the corridors. Before that, I created them using Canva. I also sent a message informing about a bakesale on a groupchat with DP1 and DP2 students. Finally, I wrote the announcement and asked Mr. Gronczewski to post it on idu.

Reflection:

During this stage of the project, I did my best to inform our entire school community about the bake sale and make sure that some people will bring sweets. Every time someone approached me, saying that they would bake a cake for sale, I was very pleased. For the organization of the event, we have decided with Alex that she, together with some volunteers, will coordinate the event on Thursday. As the day was approaching, I felt very excited, but also a bit nervous!!
