I’m figuring out how to better space my dailies as I’ve noticed that I work and focus better doing one thing at a time. So, by dividing my tasks and assigning one to a specific day in the week, I give myself more time and I start enjoying this process more. So, I’ll post weeklies here instead of dailies.

First foray into Blender and I’m digging it! It’s not complete as you can see but I’ll be continuing this tomorrow and I’ll be completing this set with some sprinkles, a cup of coffee, and with some animation.

I’ll be back over to my regular routine after this albeit with a few changes. I won’t be doing the black and white film painting studies with the sketches as it consumes a lot of time. This will be replaced by doing cinematic thumbnail sketches either traditionally or digitally. I will also be trying to include a 10 minute still life painting either in Photoshop or Heavypaint.

Gonna take a break from my regular exercises and do some full BG paintings/studies/copies. I’m planning to do four paintings in total and that’s that. I feel more loose as I painted this, maybe because of all the previous color comp paintings I did which let me practice more loose approaches in painting. I will channel that into the other three pieces as well.

Like I decided, I will be choosing a keyframe sketch tomorrow to take to a finish. I will be adding an additional exercise that will take effect next week before doing the color thumbnails by doing five random black and white graphic thumbnails.
I’ll hold off on the portrait, figure and life painting until the later weeks but for now, I’m adding these black and white thumbnails first. My plan would be to slowly add one exercise per 2 weeks, building up my speed in the process.

Added a couple of things here for the time being. First, I got a new tablet that has a quite large working area so it affects my speed of only a little bit. It might take a while getting used to it but I’m loving it so far. Secondly, I added some quick and loose thumbnails for some schoolwork. I was looking to add this next week as part of my warmups but I’m doing this only because it’s part of my schoolwork.
Another thing to add is some future exercises I want to add. One of those exercises is doing the thing I did on Sunday but everyday. Making one frame a day would help me become better at making frames. I’ll be looking at Alexander Mandradjiev for inspiration in producing frames and to be experimental in my painting process as well. Another thing would be to do a quick basic brush head and body painting everyday that will take 10 mins each.
