June, I am here — I never thought that I would get this far but the days are now longer and there is some kind of warm fuzziness that hangs in the air, little specks of white dust and pollen swirling.
the first half of the year is over and it's been heart-wrenching, it's been challenging. I had fun along the way, some joy but mostly a lot of hard work and pain that went along with it too. I never imagined what June would look like; for me winter was so long and dark that somehow I never imagined what the warmer and longer days would look like or what my goals are for my time here in the summer. in some ways I'm so glad that it's here, a little breath in the middle of it all — all the anxieties, tensions, fears, anguish even, that accompanies the ups and downs of everyday life. somehow, somehow, I have made it. one year of being out of grad school. a year that lasted long but also feels like a blink of an eye. how did I get here?
life is passing by in a blink of an eye. soon I will be 30 — 30, a big age, a big number, I don't know how to be any more stable, any more rooted, any more than just what I am right now, and that has to be enough. just enough. just good enough.
