You would think that the cw/writers for tv shows that air on the cw would’ve learned by now that one of the only reasons why people are still watching half these shit shows are for the lgbtq+ ships.
Like did they forget everything that went down when Jason rottenburg decided to kill Lexa off the 100? They do remember that hundreds of people stopped watching, don’t they? I’m not gonna go into detail about that cause everyone knows about it.
So when is the cw actually gonna stop queerbating and give us fans what we actually want? The answers probably never.
Supergirl for example (I don’t watch this show nor have I ever, but I do see things on here) the writers obviously know that people ship Kara/cat and Kara/Lena but for some reason they just won’t give it, instead fans got Kara/what’s his face shoved down their throats for at least half a season. Then we have Alex/Maggie but ya know, they broke up.
Ah, but then we have Riverdale, the show which most of us were queerbaited into watching before it even aired. The Beronica kiss, that was retweeted onto my timeline about a week or two before the show started so naturally it caught my interest because it was a gxg kiss. Obviously, that meant nothing considering varchie and bughead (I don’t ship either, sorry) we’re handed to us on a silver platter not long after s1 had started.
I honestly was never even planning on watching s2 of this shitshow but once I heard my queen from MBAV, Vanessa Morgan was joing the cast of riverdale as well as Cheryl getting an unexpected love interest this season my interest was peaked and I carried on watching.
However, I can say I honestly have no clue on what has happened on this season thus far besides the Choni scenes, like I completely forgot who midge was before she died (rip)
Anyways, back to my main point. We had to wait 3 weeks between the choni kiss in 2x17 just to get a 35 second scene between Cheryl and Toni in episode 18 where two scenes had been cut. Then to make matters worse, Vanessa Morgan, Antoinette Topaz ain’t even in this weeks episode which is a huge pile of Bs. So all in all we are getting choni content but by the time 2x20 comes around it’s basically been 5 weeks since we’ve had choni on our screens cause I’m not counting that 35 second one. So when Mads said that we’re gonna be happy at the end of the season, this better make up for it because I ain’t going through another Emison/PLL situation.
Like, what even is the point in listening to the fans but still not giving us the content we actually deserve considering the main reason why the majority of us are still watching this show is for choni and falice because we’re done with Archie and his mishaps.
OVERALL, WHAT I’M SAYING IS, THE CW IS A HOMOPHOBIC PIECE OF TRASH/A WHOLE BUNCH OF WANKERS
At least there are some shows that do listen to what their viewers want to see and put it in the show and not half ass it or wait till the show is practically finished by rushing it.

A CHONI RANT
so grab your tea and listen bitches
(people who aren’t a part of the lgbtq+ community, that don’t stan choni & don’t understand why such a big fuss is being made, please read this. There’s a lil note for you at the bottom<3)

ok heRES THE SITCH.
SO apparently choni don’t have ANY scenes together in this weeks up coming episode and let me tell you why this has T R I G G E R E D me.
We love to gush over choni and their cuteness and make edits and reblog the same gifs of them, which in our head creates more content than has actually been given.
If you really stop to think about it, choni’s relationship has had VERY little development and has been given VeRy V E R Y little attention to detail. I don’t care what the writers say, it’s fact and here’s why;
Firstly, all of choni’s scenes together are about 40 - 60 seconds long and there’s very few of them. Even with the iconic kiss scene, we only saw them together for around a minute. Also that’s the only kiss we’ve ever gotten from them and due to the lighting it feels like it’s censored.
Second of all, they haven’t actually confirmed their relationship AT ALL in the show. If it weren’t for madelaine saying they were in a relationship we wouldn’t 100% know and fans who only really focus on the core 4 wouldn’t even bat an eyelash at them. The confirmation from madelaine means something to us because we were looking for it and we thrive off any representation given to us. However, the point of representation is also to get through to people who aren’t a part of the community the point that queer relationships are as awesome as straight relationships and not just something for the lgbt community to stan, but for everyone! Love is love and let’s face it we all love a good love story.
We had to ACTUALLY RALLY to get one of the cut choni scenes from the Carrie episode and even then, despite the one we got being amazing, we only got one of two. The other being really crucial to the story development of their relationship (confirmation of being girlfriends) and we still didn’t get it.
The fact that Cheryl & Toni are BOTH in the next episode but don’t have any interactions is painfully unrealistic and frustrating as all hell. The other realtionships are attached by the hip and ALWAYS have at least one scene, one kiss, one soft moment or actually just ANY MOMENT together per episode.
I don’t know if the writers realise that choni appear to be a sort of very undetailed sub plot to whatever the core 4 are up to and to the community that feels condescending as hell. We’re not asking for Riverdale to be all about choni, we’re literally just begging for a little extra moments of screen time. Cheryl is supposed to be one of the main characters after all. Like when Varchie kiss for the 626383 time it’s not too much for the writers to think “Hm maybe this scene isn’t really important to their story. Maybe we should use this time to develop another fan favourite story.” And thats not me shitting on Varchie. They’re great, but I would like to see other characters and relationships get more attention. Ones that could use the exposure e.g. Choni.
It kind of feels like they’re dangling choni in front of our faces and calling it representation. Yes, I’m over the moon that a mainstream show as big as Riverdale has touched on sexuality and now has a queer couple but they’re literally giving us the bare minimum when they could be giving us so much more. However, they’re not and I truly don’t understand why. It’s so upsetting and actually makes me want to cry.
For anyone who is not a part of the lgbtq+ community, doesn’t stan choni and doesn’t really understand what all the fuss is about, I understand. I understand that it can be hard to put yourself in someone else’s shoes. It’s tricky to see things from a different perspective and to try and see the bigger picture. Please know that this is definitely not an attack on your own ships, nor am I asking for attention to be drawn away from them cause hey, they’re important to the story of Riverdale too! This is simply a plea for you to sympathise with us and that, for members of the community, this goes far beyond choni being “just another ship”. For a show with such a vast array of audience members, such as Riverdale, to incorporate a queer couple is huge for us as we finally get to see ourselves represented on screen. It fills us with that little bit of confidence (especially amongst younger queer folk who may feel they’re wrong for feeling the way they do) that we’re not “abnormal” or “disgusting” for the way we were born and the way we feel because we actually see ourselves in characters like Cheryl and Toni. It fills us with hope that representation like Choni, if done correctly, will inspire a better future where I won’t receive glares for holding my girlfriends hand or giving her the smallest of pecks. Where there could be more than just one lgbtq+ couple in a show, a movie or maybe even them being the main characters! Because you have had that representation in every movie you grew up with, which promoted and nourished your feelings of love. We never had that. But we hope to!
Thank you so much for reading! Please, no hating on each other on this post. We only allow love and/or respect towards each other here. X

toni topaz is easily the most compassionate and kind character on riverdale. despite living in the south side, despite having to join a gang in order to find a family, despite literally being homeless, she still looks for ways to help others. toni led a god damn protest against hiram lodge, she played a hand in exposing the sodal project. toni topaz literally just saved cheryl’s life by getting her out of conversion therapy. FUCKING APPRECIATE HER

toni breaking into the sisters of quiet mercy, screaming cheryl’s name through the halls, bursting into the room, and then kissing her? iconic, unforgettable, unbeatable, magical, mesmerizing, why I wake up in the mornings
