i need to watch a sondheim musical sooner or later, they sound awesome XDD

i would have loved to see the show irl or through the digital ticket because i would really love to see the staging in its full glory (i wanna be a theatre director one day lol) but alas i missed that :(((

i also love how it kept the original beats of the story (cinderella's dad remarries, cinderella's bullied by her new family, the prince holds a ball, ella isn't allowed to go but a beneficial supernatural entity helps her go anyways, glass slipper, the stepmother's deception) but also completely reinvents it in an actually thought out way, instead of just making it edgy or ironic!

AND TALKING ABOUT IRONIC! The language! they are using ye olde english WITHOUT making that the joke! they are including medieval-ish elements with no sneering about it or making it funny (except for toilet humor but i think that's just universal in starkid) - I think the best example is Ella's first meeting with the Fae God Mother. I just. I love it so much XDDD

LIKE THE FAIRY GODMOTHER INTERPRETATION. i am fae, i am god, i am mother, i am fae(ry) god mother (i feel like its an obvious thing but like i am insane over it so it's fine). And shes also a tree, like in certain versions of the tale. Cause like, that's how I actually remember it being told when I was a kid (Hamupipőke for the win), she had a tree growing where her mother either died or was buried, and that tree gave her her things :DD

and then there's tadius. i mean i knew i loved curt mega and wanted him to be in more prominent roles but jesus, that was awesome XDD
