“While many people think fanfiction is about inserting sex into texts (like Tolkien’s) where it doesn’t belong, Brancher sees it differently: “I was desperate to read about sex that included great friendship; I was repurposing Tolkien’s text in order to do that. It wasn’t that friendship needed to be sexualized, it was that erotica needed to be … friendship-ized.” Many fanfiction writers write about sex in conjunction with beloved texts and characters not because they think those texts are incomplete, but because they’re looking for stories where sex is profound and meaningful. This is part of what makes fan fiction different from pornography: unlike pornography, fanfic features characters we already care deeply about, and who tend to already have long-standing and complex relationships with each other. It’s a genre of sexual subjectification: the very opposite of objectification. It’s benefits with friendship.”

A HERO died today 😢 Alexeï Leonov is the first Human to do a spacewalk as part of the Voskhod 2 mission, March 18, 1965. In 1975, for his second mission, commanding the Soyuz 19 mission, he participated in the Apollo-Soyuz mission, the first space cooperation between the United States and the Soviet Union, marking a warming of relations between the two countries during the Cold War. 👏👏 Покойся с миром Алексей ! ✨

The Force Unleashed | by Sean Williams The final fight between Starkiller and Darth Vader was worth the entire book for this scene alone. It spent a lot of time building Galen up as a Sith apprentice that Vader was going to use to help him overthrow the Emperor, but the timing didn’t work out, and he betrayed Galen instead. But it was all a lie. And ultimately Galen understands that Vader was never going to rebel against his Master, at least not like this. That there was nothing good or happy about Vader under that mask, the line about “only ugliness and pain would hide itself away for so long” is KILLER. Hatred would not be enough to turn the tables on Darth Vader. “You are his creature, just as I was yours–but you’ve never had the strength to rebel. That’s why I pity you. I will no longer serve a monster.” This entire scene really brings it home how little the dark side really offers ultimately and how tragic Darth Vader is, even when he initially seems so cool and powerful. It recontextualizes what the entire story was doing–we see everything through Galen’s eyes, as he believes the bullshit that Vader fed him. And then he realizes the truth and we see something clearer and truer. Darth Vader is a sad, pitiable creature that he let someone shape him into a twisted, evil servant dependent on him, instead of ever being able to stand on his own, instead of ever being able to or allowed to leave, to choose another path.

I don’t really care that much about what gets recanonized from Star Wars Legends, but I would throw a goddamn party if we got Starkiller back.
