i have this unrealistic fantasy in my head where if you calmly and logically explain something to someone perfectly they will understand your position and gain knowledge from the exchange. unfortunately in the real world this does not happen often

just saw a post complaining about how hard it is to find adhd resources for adults and one of the comments said “tiktok has a lot of adhd tips” as if telling someone with adhd to enter the algorithmic quicksand of perpetual dopamine hits isn’t the most insane thing you could suggest for someone with adhd

I love that Jimmy Olsen is exactly the type of photographer Peter Parker pretends to be. Just bat-shit insane.
Whenever someone asks Peter how he took a picture he's like "Oh! I uh-, climmed a flagpole. Totally"
And very mortal, normal-human Jimmy is like "See, Clark, is not that weird"
I mean, look at this nutjob.
Tumblr media
The world could be ending, lava on the streets and Jimmy would be out there photographing away. No powers, no sense of self preservation. Just khakis, a camera and a dream.
Tumblr media
I like to imagine Peter meeting Jimmy and immediately being mortified about it.
Jimmy: –and so luckily I was able to take the picture before the building collapsed on me... Superman was super pissed at me but, photographer to photographer, it was totally worth it.
Peter: Right, no– See, this is actually my first time hearing how fucking insane that sounds. No wonder people at work look at me weird.

It hurts when you realize you aren't as important to someone as you thought you were.

I think it's fair to mourn the disappearance of third spaces.
Before, it was easier to have a social life that was sort of built in to your everyday life; activities were more affordable, and places more plentiful. I know that people talk down about work colleagues and hanging out with them but tbh proximity matters more than some of us want to acknowledge. Internet buddies are great but no, they don't replace the interactions of real life. People need each other and making it seem like they don't is just insane. Humans need interaction and physical touch is incredibly important, too.
Research has shown that fewer and fewer young people are engaging in friendships/relationships because they're concerned about 'red flags' and 'keeping their peace', but to be fair, relationships are how we learn about ourselves and how we learn to care for each other. Of course, if someone is a bad influence on you then it's probably best not to engage with them, but even having an acquaintance around who is willing to do fun things/ grab coffee at a café is better than nothing at all.
Humans are inherently flawed but we shouldn't isolate ourselves from one another. Third spaces are important-- bowling alleys, skating rinks, parks-- and we should definitely utilize them to bond with each other and enjoy ourselves.
