Okay reasons why YOU should watch (S)KiDS by Rare Americans; It premiered just yesterday (april 5th) and deserves so much attention

stealing a description of the movie from imdb to give an idea of what it’s about before i get into the reasons, “Set in 1993, this edgy punk rock opera follows a group of disaffected teens navigating their last year of high school as they uncover a dark truth about their Principal.”

It’s an indie animated film; if you’re looking to support indie animation, lend it your view, help it take off so the band can get leverage to continue making great work like it in the future!

Speaking of, the animation style is incredibly unique, I don’t quite know how to describe it but it’s entirely fitting of the punk-rock that encompasses every aspect of this film.

Oh and did i mention it’s a musical? YEP, given that Rare Americans are a band of course it is! The music is absolutely amazing and lets the animated visuals exaggerate reality so that you can really get hit in the feels getting to see the characters on a much deeper level.

And the story? absolutely phenomenal. it’s so much more than just what the imdb description i gave earlier makes it seem. All of the characters are going through their own hardships that the film portrays so amazingly! It covers a lot of heavy topics of things that were prevalent at the time, and properly explores the themes it presents through the characters keeping you absolutely sucked in wondering what’s going to happen next.

Honestly is very relevant to today with all the shit going on in politics, it reminds me that so much has improved since when this takes place, but also gives the encouragement to continue taking action so that the future can be better as well.

It took 3 years to make! So much heart was put into it and it absolutely oozes from every aspect you could think of.
