something we don’t talk about when we talk about nico rosberg, and honestly even though it involved being a horrendous cunt, is that he did what generations of drivers have tried and failed to do - he refused to be made second driver and still walked away with his championship.
like think about that. there are so many people in my memory, and many more before that, that fell to that hurdle by accepting their fate or switching teams and making the wrong call, or just never quite getting there. you’ve got valtteri and daniel and mark webber and felipe massa and before that you have rubens barrichello and david coulthard and eddie irvine and so on and so on. and they either had some moment of quiet resignation to it or they let it completely destroy them, sometimes both.
nico rosberg was the part of the foundations of mercedes. he was there since it took the name mercedes and was brought in to play second fiddle to michael fucking schumacher, and then he outdrove him every damn day, when the mercedes wasn’t championship contention material but was outclassing the rest of the midfield. i remember it so well when you had button and hamilton at mclaren, vettel and webber were at red bull, and alonso and massa were at ferrari. you had no idea what was gonna happen with that top six but you could count on one thing like clockwork, nico rosberg would be seventh, making that scrappy little bastard of a car sing.
and then lewis arrived when schumi left and people assumed nico would play that second fiddle like he hadn’t won them the lion’s share of the points with schumi in the other car. no one gave him his due. and then the car was a winning car and he was suddenly a winner, someone no one had ever rated from that stacked as hell grid. and lewis already had his championship. he wanted more, sure, but he didn’t need to prove that he had it in him the way nico did with his dad and everything else hanging over his head.
let’s not beat around the bush, mercedes wanted him to be second driver. toto came in with lewis and didn’t respect what nico had achieved under ross brawn. lewis was already a championship winner even if nico knew the car and the team much better. certainly the management at mercedes were never on his side once toto took the reigns. and lewis must have expected it somewhat too, it’s just how teams work. and his long-standing teammate at that point had been jenson, who had just as many championships and seniority in the sport, which made them as close to equals as possible and also frustrated lewis no end at that time because on some days he was second driver. it was owed to him, at last, to have a teammate whose only job was to prop him up.
i’m not saying if it was the right decision, or the ethical decision, or a decision that he doesn’t deeply and intimately regret, but the point at which nico had to say to himself no, lewis isn’t allowed to do this to me, no i won’t be second fiddle, not even to my best friend, must have required such strength of conviction like sport has never seen. and yeah it’s sad to think that a championship ended a friendship that old and that caring, but reframe it for a moment. what must it have felt like to escape out from under the thumb of schumacher who was never ever going to support nico, who could be affable outside racing but had a long history of being the meanest of sports on the grid, and think finally, a friend, someone to support and care for me, someone who wants me to win just like i want him to win, and be told no, it’s just the same as it was. like yes this is work, but imagine what that would do to you in any career - a fellow artist, a fellow businessman - to be told that your friend, in any context, sees you as an obstacle to overcome, or even worse just a tool to get ahead.
like we make fun of that - look at the man that sold his soul for a championship - but so did everyone else, so did lewis even. we have no idea who went first in sacrificing the friendship to the flames but we do know it was the first time nico ever fucked someone over in the sport. he’d never driven a winning car before. lewis had, and lord knows he learnt well enough from fernando, from jenson even.
nico had never had the opportunity to do it, and even when he was teammates with schumi, it was a noticeably sedate schumi racing in a midfield car. there wasn’t a championship for him to snatch at like he had done before. and that must do damage to you, as someone that’s never been at that kind of desperate infighting team before. and to have someone who is supposed to love you more than anyone else on the grid right there in it, in your first true experience of it? ooft.
then you think about him retiring, right after he’s finally done it. he must have wanted to step away before hand but imagine that friendship up in smoke and to go away empty-handed, with nothing to show for it. so he says no, i have to have this championship. all this had to have been for something. think about keke, who won one world championship pretty much by accident. how he won because the front runners on the grid that season died in those cars. and what had just happened to poor old jules. and how keke has always insisted that nico is his greatest achievement, not his championship, his son. and nico has just become a father. think about how important his daughters are to him, how much he loves them. how he was burning down his relationship with vivian too just to get this stupid title, these stupid trophies.
and maybe some part of him thinks i can fix this, i can have lewis back if i just put the weapons down, if i walk away. but lewis doesn’t see it like that - he sees it as cowardly, that nico took something from him and didn’t give him the chance to get it back, even though held already proved over and over and over that he could beat nico, that he was definitively the better driver. but nico only had to be better once - keke won his championship with a single race win to his name that season and it was enough. goddamit it was enough. and even if it hurt him to give up being in that car, nico had things that were more important. just once was enough for him in a way it never could be for lewis. lewis has nothing else, no partner, no children, no real friends at that point. of course he could never understand. maybe he envied nico in that moment, for once to be enough, but lewis never had that luxury.
god it’s so tragic, but nico really did achieve the impossible.

I'm literally looking at myself like you dumb bitch it’s a gd lego animation why are you writing this
but like The Inherent Gentleness of Landoscar
the gentle little voices they use in so many of their challenges compared to the Big Loud Fun Times With Loving Alphas that Lando's challenges with Carlos and Daniel had and with Oscar and the Prema boys !
the fact that Oscar never even properly raises his voice at all around Lando like he would with previous teammates and some of the Alpine videos. even when they're playing a big fun loud game of cricket outside and it merits shouting and yelling, Oscar never raises his voice at Lando. Lando is an absolute tiny terror, bellowing and shouting and whining at Oscar - and Oscar just giggles and ribs him gently in return.
like, Oscar would fully allow himself to yell and get exasperated (jokingly) and make fun of all the other guys in his life - he’s Australian, it’s what he does! It would be weird if he didn’t!
but in the same way that even non fandom F1 fans picked up on Oscar’s accent softening and sounding more similar to Lando’s when they’re in videos together, Oscar massively softened the genetically and culturally coded sarcasm and ribbing when he noticed it didn’t always land the right way with Lando. and how even tho they have a perfectly healthy natural sense of competition between each other, Oscar never used to be at all shy about being competitive and a little cocky… until Lando, where Oscar now ducks his head and turns pink with embarrassment over the Sprint win being brought up and how Lando was always the one to bring it up and never Oscar. and it even turned into that gentle repetition of Lando’s expressions thing which he even does in a silly Lego video “team work makes the dream work” ??
and the thing is the more Oscar has specifically wanted to accommodate Lando’s preferences and quirks and habits, the gentler and quieter he’s become with him - which goes against every aspect of bromance logic that we as fans love so much ?? normally the best thing about Lando’s quirks and habits and contrariness is when his friends roast him about them or use them strategically to whip him up into hysterical giggles or screeching and possibly nearly break something or hurt himself in unserious ways.
but then there’s the fact that Lando is also a naturally shy person and he has as many quiet moods as he has hyperactive or excitable ones. and while he can have the more excitable ones with all of his friends and we get such great media content from them, it’s really only guys like Oscar and Max F who can also bring out his quieter and gentler moods on camera.
and it’s literally fascinating to me that as a result that’s actually become more the default when Lando and Oscar are together - even down to never broadcasting when they spend time together outside of F1 commitments apart from mentioning it in passing. their time together is A Gentle Vibe and would feel weird to document bc it's at once so warm and friendly but also not A Big Deal!
and idk the fact that Oscar also doesn’t show overt bromance gestures of affection to Lando on camera or when specifically prompted by the media - but then he shows a consideration and attention to Lando that not even joking we only rly notice him do when it comes to Lily. and that most of Lando's other friends don't tend to show him apart from Max. and Oscar’s even like that w Lily where he doesn’t do the typical PDA or getting overly sentimental about her but he mentions her all the time to show how much a part of his life she is and isn't that more significant !! they’re his go-to for any question about himself that isn’t about racing - what Lando and Lily like and don’t like, how they tease him or give him a hard time, what he finds exasperating in a fond way about them. something about Oscar not rly caring if he’s a dynamic or at all fan popular person outside of racing and then being a mirror to reflect the much more interesting qualities of these two unique people who are in his life more than anyone else something something !!
but mainly it’s how the youngest and most closely competitive pairing on the grid are also the least overtly Manly Aggressive Men and don’t honestly seem at all concerned with trying to be so ! even the way they treated the usual mind games/fighting talk thing by just finding the whole concept amusing !! same with team orders where they just say ‘oh it was fair!’ and they’re both just so effortlessly What Is Gender that it rly is like they are watching The Men* from a distance most of the time and peacefully sharing silent communication with each other and speaking in voices so soft that The Men cannot even hear and like they just exist in this aura that makes us think they’re twins when actually their looks and their personalities aren’t twinning it’s just that they inhabit this wavelength exclusive to themselves and they do frighteningly well at pictionary and they coo these little thoughts at each other and it’s sometimes creepy but endlessly intriguing !!!
and how as fans there’s never any Top/Bottom Dominant/Submissive laws or even popular tendencies we literally all enjoy writing and thinking of them in fanon in every possible way and it always fits !!
just cool to me !
*with special exceptions at times for Lewis and Charles here - sometimes

I was watching the recent chrysanthemum video and had a thought. I feel like Oscar is the type of guy who would see the Quadrant video where Lando overtly mentions dyslexia, then goes off and read all the articles on dyslexia and how to help and support a colleague with dyslexia. The way he was patient, broke it down, used hand gestures to separate the syllables. That’s all stuff they teach teachers to do. He just strikes me as the type of person who would go off on his own without telling anyone and learn how to be a supportive teammate (and friend?).
see part of me wants to be like nahhh Oscar would've been a teenager when he watched that video (and we can at least safely say he watched it lsafhsalf) and probably he wouldn't have put in the effort to look it up beyond what he already knew... but then Oscar has engineering/inquisitive brain and honestly maybe he did ??
the thing that struck me that I tried to get across in this gifset is that Oscar studies Lando and always has. he used to find obscure posts about Lando on social media where he'd be one of just two likes on it. and while he'd fanboy over other drivers a few years ahead of him as well, he doesn't really do that sort of obvious studying with anyone else. he always treated other drivers as mates and equals and gave as good as he got. he's always been observant of the people he cares about and we saw that with how he's careful to make sure Logan is okay now that they're in F1. but the way Oscar has kind of anthologized Lando, while not wanting to let it be too overtly known, is pretty Lando-specific as far as we know.
and this is such a huuuuge reach on my part but I feel like this is so far removed from the sort of attention and proof of affection that Lando gets from people that he probably doesn't notice it for the most part ?? Lando is used to bromances and social media interactions and mutual hobbies being the way guys show him friendship and attention. then there's Oscar who more than once has tried to kind of hide how much he already knows about Lando before even meeting as teammates and who doesn't take the opportunity to push himself even more into Lando's life outside of being his teammate. and like, assuming Lando has a typical 20-something guy's ability to sit down and think about this stuff then it feels very likely that he only sees that Oscar won't do the usual bare minimum of friendliness and is a bit hmmmm! about it. not that I think he'd be consciously thinking any of that aslfgjlagfla more that he'd get a sort of feeling from it and just assume Oscar didn't want to hang out.
and the thing is, something Lando can and has come to just reliably depend on from Oscar is that he can fully relax into whatever mood he's feeling and Oscar will never snap or get bored or take over the way most people kind of understandably do. he'll patiently adapt and obey Lando scolding him to do one thing while Lando then does the exact opposite. he'll change his own habits bc Lando has existing ones and Oscar isn't as reliant on his own as Lando is. so tbh anon, Oscar has already cracked the code of realizing that to understand Lando is to accept the endless sides of him that exist at any given time sooooo is it rly that weird to think he looked up dyslexia when Lando said he has it ??
and the fact that most people don't get that about Lando (honestly probably just his family and Max and maybe Martin?) is why he tends to be the little satellite person to the other guys on the grid he's friends with - they're all these big, determined and distinct personalities and Lando always waits for them to throw the first volley so he can throw it back and keep up that way. he's never the leader and he knows he's got to curb the brattier instincts or else risk getting shoved off a chair or scolded lasfgslajfgl. the carlando box challenge at the aus gp was a real call back to this bc Lando went right back to the kid who can barely eke words out and who watches Carlos lead and make jokes and play-bully Lando through it. and I think this is fully comfortable and natural for him! he was the same way with Alex and George in the karting challenge and it's also how he's always been with them. but it's interesting to me how some fans seem to think that's the only way Lando is comfortable around friends and that the Lando who has slowly emerged since being the senior driver for McLaren (and with Oscar at his side) is a bit of a stranger.
some people have definitely linked their Oscar/landoscar hate with Lando seeming so much more serious and less needy/silly since Oscar showed up in his life and F1 career. Lando's slowly realized that the position of authority that Oscar kept giving him felt really nice actually! that maybe he doesn't have to be a part of a bromance to make a teammate partnership feel solid and steady and he doesn't always need to be a fun sidekick to keep McLaren fans happy. he's always had the tendency to want to be his own man and to be more serious sometimes, it's a natural part of his personality that's grown and developed as he's matured and gained more confidence in himself. he did say that Oscar was a little part of that simply by setting the example of being true to yourself and trusting it. esp seeing a guy who's technically younger than him feel so comfortable in his own skin and how that relates to Oscar's lack of "mistakes" (Lando's word) in his driving. all of that appealed to the parts of Lando that were already growing out of being a kid. but we'd seen it before in glimpses in videos with Max and Quadrant and in Lando's solo F1 interviews.
and like, personally !! I absolutely love seeing this latest version of Lando. he's so much more focused on his identity as a unique creative and experienced individual in all of his content and interviews rather than just a fun-loving guy making his own way through the world. which he still is ofc! and a major part of this is how McLaren have allowed Lando and Oscar to represent different aspects of the McLaren business and mission statement, it rly keeps the ethos of equality and respect going in all areas of their roles. Oscar gets back from winter break early and does early sim testing at MTC while Lando is still on his break. Lando arrives early in Melbourne to do filming for Quadrant and Oscar arrives a day later to spend time with family. Lando flies straight back from Melbourne after the race and leads the debrief at MTC while Oscar stays in Australia films content for their emissions and conservation work in the Great Barrier Reef.
and literally it kills me too that we aren't getting silly fun content of them together buttttt this was all part of a bigger meeting at some point before the season and we have literally the youngest pairing on the grid who are continuing to be among the most powerful and McLaren know they can entrust unique parts of the company's representation to each of them after just ONE year of them being together ??? I feel like this is absolutely huge and an enormous vote of confidence from them in each other and in the team that's honestly unique even among most drivers let alone partnerships just one season in and neither of them having hit 25 yet ???? loyalty and investment rather than self-interest and forever chasing after something better !!
this has gone insaaaaanely long and meandering but my original response to you anon was yes, I love that Oscar is considerate and genuinely interested in what makes Lando tick and I love even more that Lando has so easily slipped into Oscar being a Safe Space Person. and I think all I'd like to know is that Lando can tell that Oscar doesn't show affection or friendliness by the usual methods, especially to people he considers truly important in his life. and that Oscar's made it very clear how much he considers Lando to one of those people. I feel like someone needs to clunk their heads together and be like you idiots are so comfortable with each other and you trust each other so much after such a short time together so don't have any miscommunications about it bc you're guys and you're young and lack emotional awareness and circumspection !!!

Yuki's Thoughts (Sneak Peek 3 of a Future Fic)
I'll Be Safe In Your Sound ('til I Come Back Around) by Raven_TheDeathGod
(●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬๑۩۩๑▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●)
-What do you want to do, Yuki?
The Japanese turned around to see Oscar kneeled beside him. The Omega was not used to seeing an Alpha as caring for all Omegas’ lives like Oscar. Yes, Pierre was an amazing Alpha, always making him feel loved and cared for. But Oscar made him, and many other Omegas, feel comfortable and safe. He was a safe space for them.
He had this attitude of “I don’t care about anything, and I’m always chill about everything”. But he was the most caring Alpha Yuki had ever met. He looked at any Omega like they deserved only the greatest things in life. He remembered them about their worth and how they were the owners of their own destinies. That was something easy to forget in this sport, so the Asian boy really appreciated him for that.
And now, with this hectic situation, it was not different. Oscar was kneeling so Yuki’s Omega knew that this Alpha was not trying to impose anything, he was not commanding anything. The Alpha was questioning Yuki with genuine interest and curiosity, because he cared about what he wanted.
Because it was Yuki and his Omega the ones that had to make that decision, not any Beta helping him with his career, not an Alpha that would treat him poorly because he lost a driver mid-season. It was his decision and the Alpha Leader wanted to remind him that.
Oh, how lucky would be the person Oscar decided to take as his mate. Having such a wonderful and caring Alpha all for them. Yuki was happy with his own mate, he would have rejected Pierre if he was not as perfect for Yuki as he was. But the Japanese guy knew, like everyone in this room, that Oscar was special in a way no other Alpha was.
Hopefully, Lando would open his eyes soon and leave his love for Carlos behind to see the man who was waiting for him.
Because Oscar deserved to live a love like the ones in the movies.

Lando's Thoughts (Sneak Peek 2 of a Future Fic)
I'll Be Safe In Your Sound ('til I Come Back Around) by Raven_TheDeathGod
(●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬๑۩۩๑▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●)
Lando was fine with this conclusion, and probably most of the Grid was too. Oscar managed to make a Beta apologize to an Omega, something you barely see nowadays. Now the Omega would say everything was okay and the Pack would finally welcome the two new members of the Grid like they should have so long ago.
-Oscar, I want to leave.
That was not something Lando expected, and he knew a lot of the Pack members were as shocked as him. Even if they had been treated poorly, all the Pack Omegas understood that they should not exteriorize their feelings about the treatment. Alphas and Betas around the paddock would say they were too dramatic, and that they needed to keep their feelings ruled if they wanted to compete in this sport or any other. It was an unspoken rule.
However, the way Oscar looked at Logan after he said that, made Lando jealous. The younger McLaren driver saw his friend with eyes full of worry like the Omega just said to him he was going to die or some other terrible news. Oscar was worried about him, and he acknowledged Logan’s feelings like they were the most important thing in this room right now.
A moment later, Oscar moved in a way he kept the Omegas hidden from the Betas, but George and Logan could still see Esteban and Alex behind him. It could be something sweet for some people, but Lando knew what his teammate was doing and felt like he couldn’t breathe anymore.
Oscar was giving Logan, giving the Omega, the choice of seeing the older Beta if he wanted to, or to avoid him completely. He was allowing Logan’s feelings to settle down so he could make a decision. He was making sure that whatever happened after those words, were what Logan wished to have.
He was making sure the affected Omega was comfortable with the situation before any other person in the room.
And to make that decision, to put the Omega before any Beta or Alpha, was a bold statement of disrespect. It showed how little Oscar cared about the unspoken rules they had as a Pack. Or the rules that affected in general the way of doing things in Formula 1. He didn’t care about pleasing anyone but the people he cared about.
Lando should have known that already. How little did Oscar care about social standards, how he “ignored” someone to prevent himself from connecting with people he didn’t like or didn't share his point of view about how you should treat an Omega. How he had not been afraid of being isolated from the McLaren Pack when he preferred helping the Omegas back at the MTC than listening to any Alpha or Beta telling their stories.
Lando should have known this would happen when Oscar said that he still felt connected to his previous Pack.
Oscar was in the Grid Pack Room not because he was polite or was excited to belong to it, but because he knew this could happen with Logan or any other Omega. He was there not to be part of the Grid Pack. No, he had his own pack already and had told Daniel and Lando about it.
He was there, in that room, to prevent the Pack from hurting his best friend, his teammate, or any other Omega he was close to.
Oscar was there because he cared about Omegas in a way no one has ever cared about them.
And, when he took Logan’s hand and started walking towards the exit of the room, (a space the Pack already cleared up to prevent any possible confrontation), as soon as Logan asked to go once again, and even let the young Omega pick the pace to leave the room. Lando felt again the jealousy running through his whole body.
He wanted to be Logan, he wanted to have an Alpha or Beta that cared enough about his feelings. He wanted to be acknowledged first and be the priority of the other. He wanted to feel what Logan might be feeling right now. That love and support that no one gives you so freely. He wanted, and wanted, and wanted.
And, when Oscar turned around before leaving, to make sure Lando was fine with staying there, staying with these people instead of going away with him. Questioning him with his eyes before Lando nodded and looked anywhere else, but the young Beta leaving. Lando was sure of something.
He was jealous of whatever Logan and Oscar had. And he wanted that and more.
Also, he was now sure that there was no other shoe waiting to drop. Oscar really was the “nice guy” type of person.
And Lando wanted.
He wanted Oscar.

Oscar's Thoughts (Sneak Peek of a Future Fic)
I'll Be Safe In Your Sound ('til I Come Back Around) by Raven_TheDeathGod
(●▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬๑۩۩๑▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬●)
Oscar’s first year in the Formula 1 paddock was weird, to say the least. After so many years of having Logan by his side, this year was awfully different. He was alone as a reserve driver, his team was completely different, and he was looked down on because he was a “Beta”. He even had an Alpine Alpha insulting him.
He was working for his dream, but this was terrible. The Australian knew that Alphas here were stupid and felt like they were the best thing in the world, Mark had told him that when Oscar came out to him and told him he wanted to keep a low profile as an Alpha. And he understood it would be bad, but not this bad.
-Gays and Omegas are the unlucky victims in this sport Oscar. The FIA will want you to act like you can only love women. Most drivers fear losing their seats, so they would do anything to keep their contracts for one more year. -That’s why you got my mother pregnant? Because you were one of them? That’s why you left Fernando AND Sebastian? Because you were too scared to fight for them? -Just keep doing your job, kid. Don’t push or they will cut you and destroy your career. Even if you’re an Alpha. -Luckily for both of us. I don’t care what they do. I just want to achieve my dream, and I’m near it. Once that is done, they can burn me to death if they want.
Even if he knew the world was going to be bad, he didn’t expect them to be this cruel. So many omegas had shown their value and how amazing they were in this sport. But they were not respected at all, and that was so disappointing. Nothing had changed even if six of the last twelve championships were won by omegas.

when you watch lando's old footage back with his different teammates you can see his chemistry is so different with each and every one of him. you can see the observant and maybe nervous first year f1 racer that he was around carlos. the fire-meets-fire vibe that they brought, all the overflowing energy of being early 20somethings.
then you get the daniel era where it's honey and butter. both of them warm and charming and lando still learning from the other. but also lando also coming into his own as a racer and realising that he's not an imposter - he's on the level, if not better at that point, than the person who raced for red bull and has 8 GPs under his belt. even if that same racer seems a shadow of his former self at mclaren.
then you get the 2022 merry go round, and oscar. might as well be night and day when they first meet.
oscar, who keeps to himself, puts his head down and works. oscar, watchful and careful after the silly business with alpine. who probably knows he's coming into a buzzy environment with big personalities and huge expectations too - because who is this kid who had the audacity to basically flip off alpine? and via social media of all things (how very modern for an old-fashioned sport). how is this kid gonna make his mark on such a storied team, where the last win is almost now as old as him? what is he going to do with all that potential, right?
we love the machine, because we love watching the potential of a bright young thing fighting their way out of its jaws. lando was in there too, not so long ago, and the poison from that bite might still seep.
nobody knows what to expect. but lando gets to be the elder in the duo for the first time. lando's also going through a process in 2022-23 where he also seems to be entering a new phase of his life and realising some stuff about himself as a person too and what his priorities are. we'll never truly know what that process is (nor should we), but i think on this side of 2024 you can already see how he's handling himself out of it.
and we saw it maybe, in a bit of a smirk at oscar's first day for the car launch and oscar being late. a bit of wonder at oscar, who when suited up seems physically larger than what he remembers.
but then! oscar puts in the work. good chatter surrounds newbie and his working style, and oscar demonstrates maturity. he shows what a contender he is. that he's got his own approach, and he's ready, and – once the car comes – he starts backing that up with good results.
lando is competitive as hell on his own terms. but seeing a twenty one year old from the Reserve bench come in under er, fraught circumstances, then smashing out result after result from Suzuka onwards - surely that puts some fire under your ass in a big way. and! lando is someone who, i think despite his bad luck and lack of a win yet, is incredibly driven and has it in him to be a proper WDC contender. he has that quality. if his teammate is pushing him he's just going to push himself harder.
which culminates, interestingly, in soundbites we're getting recently. like the peter crouch interview, where lando says he's stopped DJ-ing because he's prioritising racing. not an easy decision to make i'm sure, and maybe one that would've happened without oscar's presence at mclaren anyway– but just one signal of where his headspace is probably at now and into '24. lando is also much more reserved about the soundbites he's giving lately (like "i'm not making any race or win predictions anymore and i'm taking things as they are because predictions haven't come true for me in the past, there's too much expectation on myself" etc etc.).
you might even describe it as... maturity.
and guess who has been described as incredibly composed and mature by the mclaren team?
exactly.

can't explain what it does to my head that Lando and Oscar are Two Dudes and they like each other and make each other smile and laugh all the time and have little 'them' specific things and are super complimentary about each other professionally and both signed up to be teammates together for at least 3 more years and their dynamic is that Oscar likes to watch Lando and Lando likes to make Oscar laugh and they both fall into helpless giggles over things together and Lando likes being Impossible and Incorrigible bc Oscar finds it cute hilarious and he gives in to what he wants almost all the time bc that's what they do
but they don't shove each other around? they don't do the usual horseplay that guys esp love doing with Lando? no wrestling? no easy brotherly and boyish leaning against each other or slinging an arm over each other while they talk? they don't play gay for a joke or do the kind of touching and groping that makes everyone laugh? in fact there's barely any touching at all and it isn't Oscar bc plenty of F2 and F3 content of him being fine doing that with other guys and it sure isn't Lando who has zero physical boundaries if he likes someone even a lil bit akfajsflas
and like absolutely it's just a tiny quirk of how they are I'm sure but I'm so used to being around guys and physical space comfort literally always follows being cool with each other and esp the F1 guys lose all boundaries once they're even a lil friendly with someone even George gets in on it and he's not a super physically demonstrative person
and idk idk both of these boys just staring and smiling at each other across that tiny divide and treating touching each other like it needs to be gentle or barely there and Lando had to think about it before giving a simple butt tap to Oscar and Oscar had to think about it thrice before putting a sticker on Lando mannnnn it grabs out of nowhere me sometimes and won't let go !!!

About time I draw the two pairs I’ve drawn more than 10 times my whole life which cements my obsession over them (with a dash of wings!AU) LMAOOO
YJH’s wing patterns are inspired by hawk/eagle wing patterns while Shinichi’s more akin to an owl’s! Figured I’d put patterns on them finally after going with solids for so long… I hope you guys like!
Thank you to people at the Fourth Wall server for watching me cry rendering this o9 !!
