i was told you wanted questions about gothic lit 👀 i want to know more about the Guys i keep seeing on my dash. like all i know about frankenstein is that victor makes some guy and fucking hates his guts (my brother in christ you made the guy) and i’m vv curious as to who all these other characters are

okay so i will try to do a frankenstein summary, or at least introduce the characters. if you want the full proper experience you should read the book!! alternatively osp has a pretty good video (but u should. seriously read the book)

so, lets start. meet the characters :3

-> victor frankenstein. the guy himself. our miserable protag. best friends with henry clerval, engaged to elizabeth lavenza, made the creature slash adam (<- this is a fanon name! He never gets named in canon which is sad)

-> adam frankenstein slash the creature, the Guy that victor created then subsequently abandoned. he makes me so sad dude his story is so. AUGJHGH

-> elizabeth lavenza! she was adopted by the Frankenstein family out of poverty and is victors. er. cousin. slash sister. slash future wife. yeah it sucks. shes pretty chill though, i like her

-> henry clerval! victors best friend (totally not boyfriend /j) and perpetual ray of sunshine. hes so silly i love him so much

-> justine moritz, william's nanny, also kinda got adopted by the frankensteins. best friends with elizabeth

-> william frankenstein, victors youngest sibling & ernest frankenstein, the middle child. ernest gets mentioned once and is never brought up again for some reason

-> alphonse frankenstein, victors dad & caroline beaufort, victors (dead) mom

-> captain robert walton, the guy who finds victor in the artic. hes technically the one writing the story since hes writing down victors narrative to. send to his sister. like the whole book. he is also down bad for victor which is really funny tbh

-> the de lacy family (+ safie) , they're important to adam's story but otherwise irrelevant

Tumbleweed — What stats would they provide as an in-game companion? How would you acquire them?

ooh, this is interesting!! i'll answer for cecil and ronove,

♟️— Cecil:

Stats: Watchful +8, Persuasive +8, A Player Of Chess +1

Acquiring: Probably something like beating him at the Moonlit Chessboard! If you're on Black or White, you have a chance to run into him during the midgame. You can issue a challenge to him, costing 1 vital intelligence. This gives a few positional advantages. After you finish your current match, a new storylet appears where you can play against him! It's similar to the pre-existing chess, except there's also a rival's progress quality. There's only one way to decrease it: Bribing Cecil with more secrets. Afterwards, at the endgame, you can choose a bunch of rewards depending on your progress. If your disadvantages/rival's progress got too high, you lose, causing nightmares gain. If it's a tie, he gives you a few pawns as well as nightmares. If you win, you get some vital intelligence and an epaulette mate. However, if you win by a large amount (ahead by 5+ points) you can get even more stuff... and on rare success you just. Get Cecil. I have no idea if this would work ingame but it's all I can come up with rn XD

For Ronove he's gonna have two versions!! His human disguise then his actual devil form :3

Acquiring: You can meet her at the Singing Mandrake! After raising your fascinating high enough, you can offer to write something with her. It's similar to making art at the palace, wherein you need to build inspired to 17 to finish the poem, giving you a few items, favors, and making waves. However, if you managed to get it all the way up to 24, you can get Ronove as a companion along with the normal rewards.

Devil!Ronove: Stats: Persuasive +7, Shadowy +6, Glasswork +2, Bizzare +1, Slightly Increases Scandal Buildup

Acquiring: You need to already have her base version to "upgrade" him! If you have high enough persuasive and shadowy, plus access to Parabola, you unlock a new opportunity card. This card allows you to become better friends with Ronove, discovering his secrets along the way. Instead of writing poems, you're going on heists instead! Ronove asks you to steal a bunch of souls back from an infamous spirifer. Not to keep or sell, but to give back to their rightful owners. After you've got the souls, you manage to track down the owners via their dreams within Parabola. Once you've returned all of the souls, you just need renown 10 with hell, then you can upgrade Ronove !!
