     with the playful roll of her eyes, she flipped her hair over her shoulder. as she dug around in her purse for some mints, the sound of the woman’s comment caused her to turn her head slowly in her direction. 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐄 pulled her shades up with her eyes narrowed directly in on the driver as she sat in silence for a moment, trying to gather her thoughts. ‘ yeah, gon’ ‘head and let me out this mafucka! ‘cause ain’t no way you want me helpin’ you writin’ a damn song. ‘ a laugh of exasperation slipped past her lips as 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐆𝐈𝐄 continued on their journey to the studio. propping her arm up against the door, she used her closed fist to support her head as she continued to stare in that direction, only to end up kissing her teeth. ‘ girl and you better give me whatever credits, ‘cause now i gotta get creative and vulnerable. ‘

     rushing to finish getting ready, 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐄 grabbed a random perfume bottle, spraying the necessary areas on her body. being able to go to the studio with one of her closest friends and share in that experience was something she wouldn’t take for granted. outside of being a fan of 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐆𝐈𝐄’s work, the young woman was genuinely excited to see the creative process unfold. the sound of the horn brought a smirk to her face, deciding against prolonging her from waiting any further. grabbing her purse and keys, she quickly made her way out of her apartment and decided to take the stairs. once she reached the ground level, 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐄 flipped her sunglasses over her face before purposefully strutting to the car and getting in. ‘ you better be glad i’m excited, otherwise i woulda had yo' ass sittin’ for tryna rush me, ‘ she stated with a grin.

     upon receiving her drink, she smiled at the bartender, sliding a folded up bill as a tip. waiting on his response, she easily placed the pill on the surface of her oral muscle, letting the liquor do its’ job in washing it down. not one to sip on drinks, 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐄 knew it was best to pace herself at this point. a giggle slipped from her lips as she did a 360 in front of him, letting her long nails cascade along the side of her frame as she showed off that she had nothing to hide. ‘ and i ain’t tryna keep anything hid, apparently. well, not my goodies though, word to cici. ‘ she took another sip of her drink, her lipgloss staining the glass before she playfully kissed her teeth at the sound of his remark. ‘ i wish someone would push me in the damn pool. this hair? this watch? this chain? need to do like ya’ mama said when you was in the store; look and don’t touch. ‘ getting up on the stool beside him, 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐄 peered quizzically before pointing to his lighter. ‘ you hit it before or you got somethin’ for later? ‘

trippie didn’t plan on getting undressed at all. the reason to it, he had to keep the blicky on him. after the last night’s drive by, and all the other events in his life in general, he had to be ready for whatever. rogue wasn’t in the best mood, so in a faint attempt to make it better he went straight to the bar and remained there, observing the party people from the distance.

     expertly pulling one of the familiar blue tabs from its baggie despite the length of her nails, the woman secured it back away in her fendi crossbody.  𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐄 made her way to the bar, deciding to play against her usual rules and mix the stimulants within her system, sweetly asking for a double of tequila. waiting on her order, she saw the male she’d only seen in passing before, a soft grin on her features as she moved so he’d better hear her. ‘ um, why you got allat on? you not finna be hot? ‘

     she nodded in understanding before a soft laugh slipped from her mouth, letting the drink dance on her tastebuds. running her hand over her dress, a grin danced on her face. ‘ really? what gave you that hint?, ‘ her tone was playful before taking a step back, looking the tall man up and down. ‘ okay, pop yo' shit then! congrats goes out to you tonight too then. what’s yo' favorite track? ‘

     as she made her way inside the familiar club, the woman gently smoothed down on her swooped bang, genuinely satisfied with her appearance for the evening. looking around at the interior of wilde west, she nodded some in approval, appreciating how it was able to transform for the event of the evening. grabbing one of the drinks from the bar, she looked at the pink beverage, a soft chuckle sounding from her lips as 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐄 took a sip, glancing at the person beside her. ‘ now, i ain’t ever really been a girl who was too much into pink. but i’m not mad at it for tonight. gotta stick with the theme. you get a chance to listen yet? ‘

     despite being overseas, the young woman wasn’t going to miss out on the opportunity to be a voice in her community. the fact that 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐄 was allowed to speak on her institution was something she took pride in. despite not letting on that she was that girl when it came to her grades, she cared highly for her education. smoothing over her hair as she adjusted her phone within the ring light, she motioned to 𝐁𝐎𝐎𝐆𝐈𝐄 that she was about to record, pressing the button on her camera and taking a brief pause before starting.

     ‘ wassup y’all! um, my name is 𝐃𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐍𝐄 𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐒, and i’m you know, slauson bred, baby! sorry i can’t be in attendance tonight. i’m out here wit’ my wifey in greece. but, there wasn’t no way i was gonna miss out on this opportunity to speak on an important subject to my community. a little bit about me; i’m an upcoming senior at usc this fall, and major in pharmacology and drug development. i’ve done a lot throughout my career, whether extracurricular, academically, or even just real lif. ‘

     despite not speaking to a live person, 𝐉𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐄 worked her best not to speak with her hands, clasping them together when she caught herself. yet, her attention was jogged, a bright smile flashing on her face as she got an idea. ‘ now, when it comes to me. one thing about it, baby, i’ma always be on my grind. always working to a bag. i’m a licensed nail tech and i do nails out of my home. and when i actually started gaining traction, baby, my books was full! i can say that doing that, with my orgs, studies, social life..it was a lot! i’m grateful that i didn’t have to do a traditional job, but still, you know? but i have a habit of giving my various endeavors my all, so i’ve been drained, for sure. but that’s just me! i did have to find the balance with my clients and my studies. and that just called for supreme organization, honestly, so they could both work. ‘

     ‘ um, when it comes to going to a pwi, i won’t lie; i have some privilege. i know i’m light as fuck, and people be confused sometimes when i say i’m black. but i am, and that’s all there is to it. but i know for sure that some of my friends have experienced more blatant microagressions or direct racism even. and that’s why i made sure to make a difference during my time serving as bsu community service chair. we’re in a bubble on campus, but whenever you step so far out of it, you really in sc. and ain’t no way i’m not tryna funnel resources back to my community. ‘ 

     adjusting in her seat, a smile flashed across her face as she thought on her final point, pushing her striaghtened hair behind her ear. ‘ i feel like safe spaces are necessary. and some people don’t, and that’s cool! but when you’re literally in a culture shock area, so to speak, it can be a lot for people. and exhausting and draining, dealin’ with stuff that you’re not used to. being around people who can’t relate to you. and that’s why it’s so important that we have those spaces. singleton? it’s very important. it invokes a place of community and can give students security. strength. a support system with people going through what you are. when you’re a first gen, your family doesn’t understand what all goes on bein’ at school. but in those safe spaces, you’re gonna have someone like you. and while it’s not good to only work within that space i feel, it’s definitely needed to keep going. but, i wanna thank y’all for y’all time! follow my nail page, nailsbydidi, try and get on my books before i get back to school! ‘
