“Look, gimme a sec and we’ll grab something to stuff into our mouths, which of course means pizza followed by a drink or three if you’re able.” an offer that he wouldn’t take no for, not when it came to Tate; JD could be persistent when he wanted to be and right now, he definitely wanted to be.

lawson-cage:

There was a certain feeling that when he was younger he couldn’t quite pin point, the feeling of home and having people to live for— the feeling of family, friends, love and hope; he never got that from his family, considering he truly wasn’t one of them, but he did get that from JD. A true, honest to God friendship that seen JD do unspeakable things just to keep Lawson out of trouble. But it would find him eventually and he knew it would, there would be a day where he’d have to cut ties with his best friend in order to keep him out of the trouble that followed the shifter without anyone, other than the werewolf in front of him, knew about. “How do I look worse than this?” He scoffed, pushing the dented door open as his truck finally started to die in an appropriate spot. “Did you forget who the fuck I was, Darius?” The joking and happy tone would refuse to go for at least awhile, all of the stress now fading away as his heart stopped racing, as if he were on the verge of a full blown heart attack. “Hug me, brother!” He didn’t have a fucking choice on the matter, though Lawson knew he wouldn’t bother to fight him as large arms opened up and easily wrapped around the man in front of him. “What would I do without you, aye?” There was a small pause as the shifter pulled back from the embrace, a smile still painted upon his lips without any falter. “—Dead, yeah, I’d be dead.”
“Look in the fucking cracked side mirror and you’ll see what the fuck I’m talking about, Cage.” his words accompanied by his left hand circling his own face slowly as his expression turned to that of mock disgust at the sight of Lawson’s always somewhat managed features. They were alike in that manner, but the wolf’s enhanced healing abilities benefited him more than the shifters own at times. Another round of banter was about to spark at Lawson’s teasing question that had JD only respond by way of scoff as the inevitable embrace occurred between them, killing any quips JD was about to retort with. He had a brother in Cole, one whom he loved with all that he was able to, though JD considered himself luckier than most in the way that Lawson Cage had practically been his other brother since the moment they had met and would continue to be just that, even when he left for what he thought would be the last time. See, the wolf knew at some stage everything they did would catch up to the pair, that JD would have to answers for the crimes he covered up, for the innocent people he framed in the name of loyalty and love. Lawson of course would leave, vanish without so much a whisper in the hopes of sparing JD ---- but the wolf would never abandon the other, even when Lawson thought it best to do so. The trademark slap on the back was given after a few moments of silence as the two men hugged, something that didn’t get to happen all that often and it was moments like this that the blue eyed wolf did in fact savor, knowing that one day it wouldn’t be their loyalty to one another that separated them; death would come for one of them sooner or later. “Shut up, idiot.” JD pushed Lawson back now, brushing off the comments that sparked true fears as he now turned his attention to the old truck that oddly enough felt like part of the family. “Did you fucking shift on this thing??” he now asked jokingly, his hand running across the hood of the truck where only a few of the dents were housed. “You know, a nice bouquet of flowers wouldn’t hurt from time to time, honey.”

“thought you might ‘ave run off with all the little ones.” he tells him, sliding the vodka over to his cousin, before he was shrugging his shoulders as he downed his own drink. “you’ve never complained in your life. doubt you’d start now.” he teases softly, before he was pouring himself another drink. “nowhere else to really go. lawson said he was ‘ere so…thought i’d say hello to my favorite cousin.”
“Thought about it, but I’ve got people here, shit to keep an eye on.” certain people that he didn’t want to leave, that maybe he wasn’t ready to leave just yet but none of that needed to be voiced; it never did. It couldn’t be helped really, the stillness that crept upon his person when it dawned that his cousin knew his best friend, a best friend that despite the big heart couldn’t help but get himself into trouble; and those around him. “You know Lawson how exactly?”

“I think the liquor’s finally causing you some permanent brain damage,” Clark shot back, despite the recognition of such jest held within the other’s deadpan. He settled in, a rare grin spreading across his countenance as he smacked the other on the back as if out of good spirits, “Now that’s what I’m fucking talking about, Darius. Clearly I need to continue on this betting war; think I’ve got a lucky streak or some shit. And if that means free drinks, I’m game.”

“Always had the brain damage, just drink to hide it. That’s the key to life right there; drink to hide the real shit.” JD quipped in his all too familiar teasing fashion as he raised his glass ever so slightly to salute the other and his words before waving the bartender over, card ready on the always sticky counter top; tonight was already shaping up to be just another forgotten memory. “She was out of her fucking mind ---- how was I supposed to know she was married? If you’re out of the game, that ring should be displayed. But, if it means wiping that smile from your mug, then I think its time you pick the next target, asshole.”

xhwitchy:
The ever familiar face adorning her front doorstep was more than enough to elicit a fond smile out of the witch. She’d never consider JD turning up out of the blue as anything but good, even on days where any sense of comment might have lacked it’s usual ethereal banter. “For you, always. Wanna come in? I only just got home, but unless Wren thought to raid my fridge, there should still be something to drink.”
“Always, huh? Don’t let me take advantage of that.” spoken in complete sincerity because JD knew exactly how he could be, even when those close to him seemed to forget at times, the wolf gladly entered Savannah’s home that oddly enough felt exactly like that while tapping the side of his jacket lightly as she spoke. “Brought my own, but thanks.” the warm smile that faded quickly from his lips didn’t match the worry that his blue eyes carried and heavily so, something the eldest Darius male knew the witch before him was all too familiar with. “Look --- Lawson’s back in town, Sav. Thought it’d be better hearing that from me than randomly seeing him on the street at some stage.”

“You free?” articulate as ever, JD offered only a slight wrinkling of the left side of his face to accompany his words, because the rest that needed to be said would be followed shortly; it all really depending on the response.

“didn’t think i’d actually be seein’ you ‘ere. a phone call would of been nice.” he teases his cousin a little. “small world it seems.”
“In my own house, in my hometown. Shit, really is a small world, idiot.” JD teased right back while extending his hand out, wanting whatever his cousin was pouring. “Not that I’m complaining, but you never set foot in this place. What’s up?”

“Haven’t you thought about it? Settling down? Maybe even starting a family? You act as though you’d be horrible at it but I personally think you’d be an amazing father, or at least a good boyfriend if you allowed yourself to fall in love,” spoken like a true romantic, Rory allowed a small smile to form on her lips. Since her fiance, Rory haven’t even began to look into the dating world; at least not with a whole heart into it, her focus mostly on others relationships or even TV pairings that caused her heart to flutter and her insides to get jealous or crave that sense of love. Her lips turned into a smile as he began to move through the door with her, coldness instantly hitting the pair and causing the human to stuff her hands into her pockets. The thought of someone she practically grew up with being a werewolf still a shock in her mind, but more-so jealousy that he rarely got cold during this weather due to this warm body heat. It only good a few steps down the street before Rory was linking her arm around Jordans, holding her small body close to his side as they began their short (but dreadful) journey towards the restaurant. “Works been pretty boring, to be honest. Took a step back from a few cases in order to get proper rest and focus on my mental state, but started taking on more cases recently. Been busy, but a good busy! What about you? How have you been?”
As Aurora positioned herself closer to JD in the obvious hopes of using his warmth to make the walk better for herself, the werewolf found himself looking down at her for the briefest of moments as the corner of his lips twitched into a familiar smile that often resulted whenever she was around or did small things like this; she was perhaps the only female in his life asides from Finley who he allowed near him on such a personal level. While his steps fell into rhythm with her own, JD couldn’t help himself and scoff at the words that seemed to fall from her lips with such sincerity; always the hopeless romantic at heart. “Uh.” a staggering response as JD’s blue eyes focused on the road before them as she waited for his response. “Been in love, Rory, and you know how that went. Left her behind, yadda yadda --- that life isn’t for me and kids? Let’s not torture the munchkins with my moods.” the wolf explained in an obviously nonchalant manner, perhaps almost dismissive of the topic that he himself avoided on every occasion. “Anyways.” he began now with a slightly more lighter tone as he never wanted Aurora to feel as though there was a subject they couldn’t talk about as he was as much of an open book as a half finished book could be. “We both know that you’re the one who should be in a relationship, popping out kids left right and center while explaining to your husband that your handsome cop friend is just a friend.” cue the light jab of his elbow into her side as the comfortable pair rounded the corner, coming face to face with the burger joint that offered Aurora warmth and JD a mouthful of fries. While un-linking himself from the arm that often kept him steady after long nights out, JD opened the door for Aurora as he offered a small wave to one of the new deputies exiting before following his friend to the normal table they seemed to have claimed for themselves over the past few months. “You’ve been okay though, right?” it was evident enough from the question that JD was concerned for her well-being and while it wasn’t exactly his job to look after her and that she was completely capable of doing that on her own, there was a sense of guilt for being away for a month. “Hey, as long as these cases aren’t stressing you out and that those dickheads are actually helping you out for a fucking change.” not one to keep his voice down, JD did tilt his head lazily in what she knew would be an apology for the tiniest outburst while his hands busied themselves with the menu, despite knowing exactly what he was going to order as it was the same damn thing every time. “Same old, same old. Bit quiet without those idiots around, but works work, life is life ---- Lawson turned up actually, suppose that’s something.”

( @jdarius )
A puff of black smoke followed the white, dented truck that Lawson had managed to actually keep alive (along with himself) since he had been gifted it at the ripe old age of fifteen. It had only just made it this far, to the one place that he could find it in himself to call home, not only for the memories, some good and some bad, but for the people– people like JD. The one person in Lawson’s life who he could count on, the one person who was there for him from the get go; he never left. And it was because of that very reason that Lawson hadn’t left, not really, not in the way he wanted to– all because of JD. “Oi!” Words quickly flew from his lips as his truck rabbit hopped it’s way up the driveway of the familiar house, a smile easily beginning to stretch his chapped lips upon seeing his best friend turn around to face him. “Got a loan to help me get this piece of shit back up and running?”
A bag of chips in one hand and a handful of chips in the other, that’s how he had been standing for around fifteen minutes now, deciding whether or not it was worth putting a new coat of pain on the house he had purchased for everyone --- when everyone lived in Red Creek that was. Of course the walls held their memories and the stains on the carpets reminded JD that no matter what happened, the Darius’ were pigs and frequently forgot to use plates when they were definitely needed. However, despite all those memories, it had been rather quiet over the last few weeks without those who used to live with him and yet he stayed in the shitty town that really held nothing but pain, watching over those that still remained and waiting for those to return whom always did. Sentimental bullshit perhaps, but when the wolf heard those dying sounds of a truck that had no right to still be pumping exhaust fumes all over the goddamn place, it was safe to say that his insides relaxed slightly; perhaps only for a moment. “What the fuck.” JD spoke through a scoff when his eyes landed on the familiar sight of Lawson Cage, his best friend that he knew he’d one day be called in to identify his body; but today wasn’t that fucking day. “You know you look worse than that piece of shit, right? I mean, happy to see you but how the fuck do you look worse than --- that?” a genuine question as he walked towards the shifter and his chosen mode of transport. “Keep a spare runaround in the garage for special occasions like this one, you know that.”

---- ( @clarkroschell )
“You come here often?” the wolf deadpanned to the other as his regular drink at his regular bar on his regular old bar stool was ordered ---- next to someone who was becoming sort of regular in a way that was unexpected and yet now expected in an odd sort of way. “Think this round is on me, seeing as I lost the bet about that blonde last time round.”

rcryblake:
“You being drunk is a fact, yes, but that doesn’t dismiss your actions, Jordan!” She stated before narrowing her own eyebrows to match his, although hers was much less intimidating. The silence was enough to make her mind calm down, her nerves to relax and her anger to subside, almost forgetting that she didn’t have to wake up to more screaming women; something she had though Jordan had put in the past with a few of his other behaviours she had managed to see him grow into. Licking her lips, she began to slide on her footwear, making sure by second looking everything in her bag and jacket pockets before sliding her arms into the sleeves. Right before she turned around to tell him she was ready, she heard her phone go off. Reading the text, she let out a small huff before turning towards her best friend with a small chuckle finally moving from her lips. “Really?” She asked before rolling her eyes, holding out her hand as an invitation for him to follow her out of the apartment.
“Eh, same actions as last week and probably the same as the one’s later on tonight; depending on how the day goes.” the wolf stated somewhat flatly as his shoulders shrugged in agreement of his usual words that seemed to justify his own behaviors to himself; in order to fool others you first had to fool yourself, right? Or perhaps that was the real truth of it all, that there was no fooling to be done, that the version that stood in front of his best friend and main reason for staying behind when Finley and Bishop left to live with Cole was indeed the true Jordan Darius, or what was left of him when all the corruption and lies had taken the pieces necessary for the rest of him to be able to go on. Lost only for a moment in thought that wouldn’t dare enter his thoughts again for some time, JD plastered on an idiotic grin at Rory’s reaction to his childish ways, his own hand extending towards the brunette has he passed her, only to touch her elbow slightly before heading out the door and it wasn’t till the short walk to his favorite burger place was half way through that he found himself looking down at Rory, gentling nudging the side of her arm with his elbow before speaking. “How’s work anyway? Feel like I haven’t asked about that since I got back.”

rcryblake:
“Your facts are horrid,” she stated as her facial features continued to stay unimpressed, body slumped and eyes heavy as she forced them open. An eyebrow slowly raised upon her forehead as she listened to her best friend continue to justify the meltdown she had just dealt with from another woman Jordan managed to lose interest in. “Oh no, you are not using my full name around here, I did nothing wrong. I also do not want to hear another peep from your lips until I have a cup of coffee in my system.”
“Who said there are no facts, only interpretations? Or did I just make that shit up?” JD found himself asking as his bushy brows knotted together slightly in what might have seemed like mock thought in that moment though his sluggish brain was indeed trying to remember who had said that absurd line. As silence fell between them briefly at the request of the angry brunette that stood before him, it was only interrupted by a deep rumble that had the wolf’s hand reaching for his stomach; when was the last time he had actually had a decent meal? At the sound that had actually startled the male for a moment, JD reached for his almost flat cell that had been thrown on the couch in the early hours of the morning, composing his thoughts for a few seconds before sending the text to Rory that stated ‘We getting food too because If I don’t get something in this gut of mine, I might die’.

“That’s your excuse? That’s really the excuse you’re gonna use? You don’t bring someone over if you’re not interested, Jordan!” The use of his full name emphasized the tiredness that was radiating off her small body, having to deal with a emotionally damaged girl the moment her eyes had opened. “I know I look good, got my hair done yesterday. You’re paying since you made me deal with that the moment I woke up, ass.”
“Didn’t say it was an excuse, just stating them facts, okay?” he stated a little too matter of factually as his shoulders lifted slightly in a useless defense because yeah, there she went using his full name. “If I was going to use an excuse, it would be that last night I was shitfaced and... ---- should I start over you think? Fine but its your fault seeing as you need to see my baby blues so damn early, Aurora.”
