🔹They gently worked their way across her skin, playing with her hair the way an old friend would; lightly, mindlessly. There was comfort in those caresses. A familiar longing echoed with each touch, rippling across her mind as it encouraged her to relax, release…let go. And though she knew what they were, what they really were, it surprised her just how enticing the temptation was. Their offer betrayed only by the growing tension in their grip.🔹 Finally finished up this piece a couple months back. 💛Lottie Grey Smith💛 was born on October 8, 2021 after nearly 30 hours of beautiful labor by @k8lynz She is 6lb 12oz, 20in long. Lottie, we loved you long before you made your debut but you have absolutely stolen our hearts. It’s been a long road to bring you here and we both keep breaking into tears because of how happy you make us. Despite our plans for a home birth, you wanted to come out in your own way which meant we needed a little extra help. Your mom worked hard to keep you safe. It was amazing. I’m so proud of her and I can’t begin to explain how lucky we are to have her as your mother and my partner. She is a badass. Even though it wasn’t exactly what we planned, your birth was perfect. I can’t wait to share this world with you! 💛 I also want to thank @malachitemidwives for their guidance, support and expertise throughout. I can’t explain how excited we are. It’s been humbling and inspiring to see Katelyn’s strength as she grows a human being inside her. It’s wild! She’s always an incredible person and she’s going to be an incredible mother. Its been a bit of a bumpy road to get here, but those challenges helped us learn how to better communicate and grow stronger and closer together. We can’t wait to meet our little girl this fall! P.S. We also want to acknowledge that not everyone’s journey is the same and that this post may trigger some sorrow for those that wish to have children and are struggling. We did for years. My Grandpa was a mountain. Tall, adventurous, beautiful. A monolithic man cut from faith into an unwavering, compassionate peak. With fingers spread like ridge lines he explored life’s topography, reaching high into its adventurous summits and deep into its boiling guts. He worked hard and overcame the earthquakes and eruptions that threaten to topple the strongest alps. He didn’t escape unscathed. Parts were broken off, cracks crawled across his weathered ridges, and parts of him split wide open. But it didn’t make him weaker. It made him softer. Into those rocky open wounds he cultivated life, carving out lush landscapes and protective valleys where he cradled his family with care. I am going to miss that mountain, that man. My Grandpa. This was another crew shirt design for my first 44 Cats team. It was a collab between @wuvvuduvvu and I. Another fun show with another absolutely incredible team I had the privilege to work alongside. I learned so much and really got to push my cartoony animation chops. Dragoonies never say die! I made this illustration (based off of @randyortizdtd Goonies poster) as a crew shirt for my team while we worked on Dreamworks Dragons: Rescue Riders. Our team name was Dragoonies and it was stressful, complicated but altogether rewarding show to work on. That was a couple years ago now but I couldn’t post it back then because the show hadn’t been released. But now that season 1 and 2 are out and available on Netflix, it’s time I pay homage to the stalwart crew that helped get me up to speed in this incredible industry.
