hi burner account here ! i rarely interact with anything on this account but just wanted to get the general public's opinion on the matter

so i think everyone and their mama has seen some flavor of joost klein cosplayer and i was wondering where people stood on that? i have a bit of a biased view given that i have cosplayed for over 10 years and have done what are considered 'irl cosplays' before, (aka i was an emo queer cosplayer at 13 so you already KNOW i was cosplaying gerard way + frank iero and posting that content) but i also am capable of recognizing and appreciating the differing opinions of others.

i think a lot of the discomfort is being voiced by others on joost's behalf, maybe assuming he would be uncomfortable or even upset if he saw it? i'm not gonna sit here and act like i know where he stands on it because the fact of the matter is, i don't!!!!!! i have no idea what his stance is on people cosplaying him and lord knows if i/we ever will. however, i don't think it is far fetched of me to assume he doesn't mind, to an extent.

every cosplay i have seen has been inherently harmless and overall enjoyable, i've yet to see anyone do anything that he would be uncomfortable with or be ashamed to be a part of. as i've said, i do have a long-winded history doing irl cosplays, so my bias is absolutely capable of clouding my perspective on all this, but i feel like he has presented himself as someone who wouldn't necessarily mind it, like i said, to an extent.

my most controversial take on it is that i think some of the people (READ: NOT ALL. some. likely only a select few.) who are upset with joost klein cosplayers might have some flavor of parasocial relationship happening and feel the need to...i guess defend or protect him¿? is it unfair to think this?? is this controversial??? it HAS to play some kind of role i feel

am i off my gob for thinking like this?? i feel like we can have faith in a man in his late 20's to speak out if it was genuinely troubling him, but then again, people tear him apart no matter what he does. joost klein tag on tumblr dot com sound off if im insane in my membrane or if my third eye is open
