Joseph always trying to make it a beach filler episode forgetting what a shirt is. Living on a lake not believing in clothes.
I hope they've had lake parties. Even if (very possibly) none of them can cook.

Does anybody know if E3 Mary May has fully functional party dialogue with any of the GFH besides Boomer and the name-randomly-generated NPCs?
It seems like her combat barks are all here and she has NPC conversations and talks about Boomer but she and Jess were dead silent UNTIL I dismissed Jess when MM delivered a line liberated from GFH Jess responded directly to. Less a total absence than a coding problem, I think.
This kind of determines who I get next.
(I’m guessing maybe Nick because they’re from the same zone but I rarely have used air support.)

Between the game and The Book of Joseph and Collapse despite these characters absolutely committing homicides all over I feel like it's one of the more sensitive portrayals of PTSD from childhood trauma I've seen, because in this struggle that only gets worse with Joseph saying "Alright, this escalated psychopathy on John's side and the extreme PTSD and impaired adult functioning of our primary caretaker (Jacob) obviously has to be part of God's plan." But what's the alternative to it not being a blessing? Jacob dying on the street like other veterans, John either in jail or having committed suicide, and Joseph a single father raising a child in abject poverty who (r.e. the comic issue) he'd had nightmares he was going to abuse like his father abused him. Like breaking down surrounding this pregnancy but still so optimistic on the phone leaving messages for Faith #0 who's already dead at the last hour his life was on track in the Collapse ending.
And then what connects Faith #3 to them and cements her as his sister/daughter: that she suffered unimaginable abuse at the hands of her father and despite seeming to have almost had a relationship with Tracey r.e. their letters decided to order some older male caretaking attention via homicide. Joseph just accepting that like he accepted John killing a woman, too, although he and Faith have had their rougher patches. He's holding this family together goddamnit (it's... sure going).
It’s even stronger they let Joseph, by the grace of God or just listening to the news, be right because I know after deeply interrogating if evil even exists and if the deputy is morally equivalent so thoroughly I would have been unsatisfied with a “heroic” ending.
The game leaves me wondering if John ever even got this message or if Joseph poured his heart out to a voice mail message that only John's killer ever hears.
Between this and him reflecting upon uprooting his life to move to Montana because John's committed a homicide in Collapse -- "I saved you John. Over, and over. And still you fought me" -- I'm glad they didn't go with the early edgelord version of John and reframed it as a struggle for John's soul with no living antagonist, only the prowling damage of child abuse.
John looking absolutely broken at the river he almost drowned the deputy on impulse was the first moment the game really grabbed me.

You have to love them, John. Or the Gates of Eden shall be shut to you.

There are so many things I love about the artistic risks taken with the FC5 ending(s) and it's one of the most profoundly satisfying gaming experiences I've had.
Also I am left sure that whatever my deputy's sexuality and whatever their gender there's no escaping trying out sucking off crazy.
Like aight bro I ain't got nothing else to do yeah I'm gonna.
Why didn't you try sitting slutty in the helicopter I woulda taken it down myself.

Haha, just reminded me in the novel Mary May is thinking how much of John's preaching is typical showmanship.
Man's out here like 'I bring television evangelical energy to human mutilation.'

John's serial killer room is genuinely funny to me.
Got the Hannibal antlers going on. The excess blood. Some bodies. The random pieces of skin.
...bitch is that meat.

This may sound wild in 2025 but in the 1990's links to porn could be embedded anywhere on the internet in any page and your browser would not block popups. And popups could be programmed to propagate other popups.
So, sometimes tween me would be clicking on a seemingly absolutely normal website link and a pop up of the absolute most freaky porn would appear on my screen and then more popups of freaky porn would multiply from it. And if you hit the close button? More porn popups. A percent of the time this would happen to the point your computer crashed.
So, yes, pornography is very simple not to pursue nowadays. You have to access it on purpose.
But also like, this literally did nothing to me I mean it was super annoying but I was like, I ain't into this I'm just trying to read some Sailor Moon fanfiction over here. I incidentally read a SFW FAQ about kink and consent clicking around forums when I was 12 (because the internet was everything everywhere all at once) and it was literally the best thing to ever happen to me because I was like, oh okay some things are for people who are not me and if I don't like them I should click away (or in the case of popup cascades reboot my $#@%^#& computer).
While we’re talking about censorship, I need everyone to stop playing this little amnesia game where we pretend not to remember what internet and fandom has looked like for the past 20 years. Weird and taboo porn has always existed, it used to be a LOT easier to access, and you won’t die if you look at it. We simply cannot continue placating the crazy mob of people who are scared of sex and love overstating harm, they’ll call you a pedophile literally no matter what, and they’ll roll around in their cognitive dissonance like a hog in mud when you point out that the other group calling you a freak and a pedo are the conservative alt right. Fucking exhausting being a fag and a pervert in 2025.
