Night Hunter I think plays up the weirder/scarier aspects of his personality when he’s with Orville because 1) it's entertaining to throw him off and 2) it gives NH some power over Orville. So long as Orville tries to be the “normal” one, NH has an advantage; He’s unpredictable and willing to do crazy shit. When Orville stops playing his role (when experiencing psychosis, or having a particularly bad series of days) NH really has no chance of regaining control because. Well. Orville is just bigger and stronger than him. Night Hunter would NEVER EVER admit it, but he does like it when Orville takes control… just a little… probably because Orville can’t bring himself to be too cruel. He gets very soft and sweet in a condescending sort of way that NH finds offensive (he’s supposed to be scary!!! Not cute!!!). Would very much be calling NH “puppy” if he knew that was something he could do. But Orville doesn’t get off on hurting Night Hunter, so he doesn't when they’re having sex (when they /aren’t/ is a whole other story. Orville dgaf if NH just sucked him off, he’s throwing a brick at his big dumb head on the way to the shuttle). Night Hunter will put up a fight when Orville gets dominant, of course, but he knows when he's beat and he’ll willingly roll over for Orville (animal showing their stomach as a sign of submission type thing) when they’ve tussled enough to make it look like NH didn't give up toooo easily.

Orville submits so willingly that it embarrasses him. He would resist in the early days, but he pretty quickly reached the point where submission made him feel better than whatever a “normal” response did for him. I've said it before but he has to frame it like “I am /allowing/ him to dominate me. I could beat his ass at any time. I still have control”. There's also some plausible deniability that comes with it— Orville doesn’t like to admit that he earnestly wants NH but if he’s being “”forced”” into his position then he doesn't have to. Orville, obviously lying: “Noooo I don’t like him, I just go along with it because he’s scary”. He gets defiant when NH forces him (or tries to) to do something he genuinely doesn't want to or when NH says something that he particularly doesn’t like (Orville is NOT going to “beg for it’, quit asking!!!). He gets combative when NH tries getting possessive with him because he does Not enjoy the idea of NH owning him, a “you're mine” is fine, but anything further is gonna start pissing him off.

Despite what I may be posting on ao3 ☝️they don’t have penetrative sex very often. Orville would rather frot or use his mouth + he needs lube and that's not easy to come by. If he bottoms for NH, it’s only because NH wanted him to. That doesn't mean he outright dislikes penetration, it’s just not his favorite way to have sex. Night Hunter thinks topping=domming and he doesn't physically react well to bottoming (will be elaborated on in the next fun in the dark update) so he's always on top once Orville figures that out. Night Hunter likes to rub up on Orville. A big humper. He likes to eat Orville out too, but Orville would never return the favor cause he knows that man’s ass has not seen soap or water in years and there are some places he simply will not delve 🙏. Also.
