I keep forgetting about this one, and it says it has petdeath, but there maybe a mechanic to overcome that? Not sure, for some reason I just can't keep playing it, I always lose interest.
WildHorsesValley https://wildhorsesvalley.com/
It doesn't have humans, it is NOT a 'horse girl competitor' site, the art, to me, is gorgeous, it supposedly updates regularly (It looks like the latest update may have been in April about earth day). It also has some fantasy type horses, though I haven't acquired any yet.
Not sure how many people would be interested, and this may have been one you already came across, but it is one of the few unique horse games I found. All others that I have found follow the model of jumping and dressage and competing.
speaking of other pet sites does anyone else here play anything besides flight rising? i want flight rising with horses but all the one's ive found have permadeath and that's why i didn't like lioden very much, i feel like fr is one of the few petsims that have gotten so much right when it comes to your accounts and pets (because so many of the ones i played as a kid and see in the community either have "youve been inactive for 7 months we're deleting your account" or "your pet has to die when they reach a certain age", which is frustrating because i feel like it defeats the point of what makes pet sims enjoyable but maybe im missing something)

@tanija-fr I just briefly looked at the dungeon coursers, because I have also been looking for a horse game without pet death and without the typical 'oh, this is about jumping and showing and everything like that!', but it seems to be what they call a HARPG, which is 'Horse Art RPG'. Which seems to mean it is about drawing the horses yourself. So, if you like that, it might be enjoyable, but as a non-artist, it still isn't what I am looking for.

It would be extremely simple to make toggle pages accessible.
Not all toggles affect the same area, so just have separate toggle pages for separate areas of the site.
IE, toggles that affect the forums: Forum Accessibility page
Toggles that affect lairs/how dragons look? Lair Accessiblity Page.
and so on. Each toggle would have a logical place and any toggles that would affect the entire site (such as april fool's jokes where it might affect any page of the site) could be on their own page and any toggles that might not necessarily have a logical page could be on a 'Miscellaneous' page or just stuck with the entire site page.
That is how places that have a lot of options tend to do it. You aren't just slapped in the face with a huge page of options. You have different options available through different pages.
With how many toggles y'all want I'd be shocked if the "toggle" screen could ever possibly be accessible to anyone for any reason.
It's accessible now and that's what matters. Chill out, wait a while before tearing your hair out over aesthetics and screaming "Devs Toggle, Please" for the millionth time. It's literally such a small change that helps people.

One thing I didn't see mentioned on this post (haven't looked at the other posts) but, if the name of the dragon is in a language I don't recognize, so I don't know what that word means, I am likely to change it just to make sure *I* don't get in trouble if the word is a slur or something not allowed on site.
While I think that most people who name dragons in their own native languages are not doing it with malicious intents, there are enough people out there who would do something like this (and especially if they are selling it) that I would be leery of someone doing this.
Google translate also doesn't always cut it (and not everyone is playing on a device where it is easy to copy and paste the word into Google translate)
Plus, there are all the reasons that others have mentioned for someone to want to rename a dragon.
Idk if someone buys a dragon off of me and replaces the name I gave it that was part of my culture with some bland English name, I would be pretty upset too. Not my dragon, I know, but it sounds frustrating for someone to disrespect a culture by giving it a white name, whether it was done unintentionally or not. I can see why anon isn't happy. The "my dragon" thing I disagree with cuz it's not theirs anymore, but still

As someone who posted on that thread after the necro, I completely thought it was a three/four month old thread... but it says 20*1*5 not 20*2*5 doesn't it... and that was 10 years ago....
That explains the necro comments in the thread :P
"What if I just necro'd a 10 year old thread with the worst suggestion anyone's ever heard" - A from Wind, apparently. Original OP is still around so I hope they don't get flak for that lmao

To add on to what was said, even if it were only paired familiars (those on dragons) and only worked once a day, there is still the future, where we will hopefully be able to have more dragons in our lair. Which means that there is the potential for the bond - all button to just keep adding more and more treasure as people are able to own more and more dragons.
Plus, another huge issue isn't the treasure you get from them, but rather the chests, which CAN give a large amount of treasure, and now there is the potential for them to give various items. Those can also cause issues, not just in the future, if (when) we get more dragon slots, but now.
There is also a general idea that there aren't a lot of people who bond with their familiars daily, and/or don't pair up all their dragons with familiars. They will bond with a handful of familiars, but that is it. But, if it were as simple as clicking one button, a great many more people would start bonding and pairing their dragons up with familiars.
Too afraid to ask on pvp forums but like. What's the issue with having a bond all familiars button if it only works once per rollover? You're not making more money than you would by bonding with them normally. You can't just swap the familiar out and repeat it over and over. All it does is widen the amount of people who can bond with their familiars. I don't understand how the economy works that this is bad for it.

It wasn't just because that one person complained about not being able to use the site.
MANY people complained because they felt it put a target on them when they used the block function. They felt like they had to stop using the block function, because all it took was logging out, or incognito mode for the person to figure out who blocked them.
Beyond that, one of the common refrains is that, since there isn't a tiered level of blocking or other options, people can be locked out of threads for simply spamming the auction house. Or because they have a signature that someone no longer wants to see.
There is a desperate need for a change in how blocking works on this website. If someone has you blocked you should not be able to interact with their forum posts at all. Blocking on fr is barely a step above blocking on discord

I mean, reducing skin prices *might* help, because fest skins are becoming less effective as a treasure sink and will only get even less effective if they add more for treasure.
It has been said in many of the suggestions about this, by several people, including me, that when we first started, we used to get every skin there was, even if we didn't plan to use it. That then changed to just getting the ones we thought we might have a use for. For me, it has since changed to only skins I personally *really* like. Any that I don't immediately go 'ooh, I love it' I just skip.
So, reducing the prices of each individual skin slightly might make it more likely that people will get full sets or multiples of skins, even if it is just to resell (because reselling still causes a slight treasure sink effect if they are resold for treasure) which will increase the effectiveness of the treasure sink.
Reducing the price doesn't mean make it next to nothing, it just means make each one slightly less expensive. It can still mean that you are spending more per fest than you used to, just not as much now.
You know, fest skins are a major treasure sink, and if you want that 1:1000 ratio to stay, we really, really need those. It's already on the brink of changing. Reducing skin prices would not help.

Counter: To me needing to ping someone you are talking to is like having someone come up, say something, and then you want to reply to them, so you poke them to get their attention so they are sure to hear what you said.
Not everyone needs or wants to be constantly poked by people and are perfectly capable of returning to a thread without said poke.
Petty salt but it's still salt so.
"Don't ping me" in bios is so confusing to me. Especially seeing it in more discussion based threads. People ping to talk to others who decided to join the discussion.
It's like going up to a group, saying something, and walking away before anyone can respond and then just continuing to do that with every group you bump into.
At least tagging it onto your post feels a bit more like you're saying, "Hey, I just want to add my thoughts to this and step back." to me, which feels less rude, I guess.
Idk, I feel like this is probably just a me thing.

Just want to say that pinging and responding are two different things. You can respond to someone without pinging and they can still see it.
To me pinging someone is like poking them to get their attention to say 'hey, listen to this!' Not everyone wants or needs that poke
Whats the point of responding to someone just to turn around and say, "Don't ping me!"
Like ... you are in a discussion thread. Replying to someone and you're expecting them to not respond back?
LMAO

Yeah, I see this argument fairly often, but like, many parents *don't* like the direction many of the children's shows go in (talking about profanity, gore, and things like that) and my thought is 'it is nice to have a variety of media that can appeal to different people' so that the people who don't want their kids to watch the other shows/play other games can have some things they feel okay allowing their kids to consume.
sometimes I see what media the kids are watching and I just groan in frustration of how annoying FR's rules/guidelines are

I am probably misremembering, but I thought that one reason (or this was the speculation at least) why they banned the account was to stop people from posting on the wall/sending PMs to the user, just in case they did come back (they can appeal the ban), they weren't coming back to hundreds, if not thousands of PMs and messages about naomi, something they would have absolutely no clue about.
Basically, everytime Naomi or their offspring was brought up, people would likely flock to the original dragon's page and then comment on the lair's profile or PM the user
Just noticed the owner of Naomi is banned. When did that happen? Has it always been the case?

It honestly surprised me as well, I had been avoiding it, because in the past suggestions about it, there have always been people who are 'no, they are BABIES and babies shouldn't fight!' but there weren't any in this thread.
That suggestion forum about permababies in the coliseum had me surprised. First of all I clicked because of the hilarious title but secondly the replies were actually nice? Anytime I brave the pvp forums I always assume I'll see the worst but this time I was pleasantly surprised by the responses.

Since it would be very difficult, I assume, to find your lair, through their auction house, since you didn't buy a dragon from them, I personally would assume it was someone trying to scam you into selling a dragon for cheaper than you normally would.
I would think that they most likely searched for dragons of that color/breed/whatever, and then sent the PM.
strangest thing ever just happened to me?
got a pm asking to buyback one of my fodder dragons for the price that it was sold to me at, which was, apparently, 7g, because it was listed by mistake
normally i would say yes immediately because i have in the fodder tab that i'll return dragons that were listed on mistake either for the price i bought it at, or a replacement fodder dragon of the same breed
but uh. i don't. have a single dragon in my fodder tab that wasn't self produced. the dragon they linked me was, obviously, one that i bred myself, both parents are in my lair and are also currently on a new nest right now
i messaged them back telling them that that was a dragon i bred myself and that if they wanted it, i only sell my fodder for 25g/kt each, but that it definitely wasn't a dragon that they sold me
they blocked me
i like to assume the good in people so? maybe they just searched the colors and breed of the dragon they accidentally sold and the genes just so happened to be similar?? and they got embarrassed and blocked me once i pointed out i bred the dragon myself?? but why wouldn't they just click the link from the auction house... does auction house like clear after 20 days or something? since like i said, the parents are on another nest right now that hatches soon
person who pmed me if you're out there reading this. i'm very confused.

This sent me down a rabbit hole...
Basically, there ARE 'blue iridescent' plants! It says that pretty much all the pictures you will find online are edited, due to how the cameras work, and how what the camera 'sees' is different than what the human eye sees.
Why blue is so rare...
And finally
Blue foliage plants, though they are no where near as blue as the name might imply.
why does leaf has PURPLE AND BLUE accents?? out of ALL the colors those two are like, the only ones leaves can't be

I was greatly confused as well, so I looked it up, because I had always seen the grassy plain spelled 'Savannah'.
Apparently, American English tends to use 'Savanna' without the H, and the one with the H has become more commonly used as a name, than in reference to the plain.
Plus, someone else pointed out that there are already a few things on site called 'Savanna' (including a coliseum Venue), so they most likely just went with the outlier to be changed.
what's wrong with "savannah"?? what's next? parao

One of the things to note is that when something is there from the beginning, people who don't like that feature, enough to be mad about its very existence, can just opt to not play the site. They don't have anything invested into the site, and so have no issues with just not signing up, or abandoning a new account.
It doesn't even have to be from the beginning, but just predate whenever a particular person has signed up, because it still stands.
For instance, pet death. A lot of sites have it, and few people have issues with it. Because it is there from the beginning and people who dislike that mechanic, such as myself, just ...don't sign up for those sites. Now, if a game I was playing added pet death after I joined, especially months/years after, I would be upset because I had invested a lot of effort and time into that site and it now means I am not going to enjoy the site, probably not at all with how I feel about pet death.
It doesn't mean that pet death isn't a good feature. It can be a way to make sure that pets retain some value. It can also make for a vastly different type of game play.
But, adding it to an existing site does mean that the site is going to fundamentally change. Which is something that people don't necessarily like. They signed up for a particular type of website, and don't want it to change into a different type.
This can be said for most mechanics, especially those that will change a huge portion of the site. The people who have invested time, and potentially money, into the site don't want it to change to something they aren't going to want to play any more.
As for completely new mechanics? A lot of that boils down to 'I don't like this mechanic, and I got myself hyped over an update and I feel let down' with a sprinkling of 'I want the developers to only work on things I personally want to see because there is a finite amount of time to go around'.
I genuinely think that a lot of the drama around new updates is just because they’re new and different™️ to what we’re already used to. Just take anything and think about how you would view it as if it’s been a feature since day 1 vs as a new update.
Like imagine if dominance came as a new update? People would be RAGING that something so grindy and multiplayer-based like this could effect the entire marketplace/gathering/etc mechanics and demand the devs to take it back. The salt would be unreal. But because we’ve had it from the beginning, instead there’s communities and events around it and it’s seen as core gameplay. Ofc not everyone is happy about it, but not nearly to the scale as if it would have been something new.
Whenever we get new updates I just try to think about if it’s something that would have been accepted as a good feature had it been there from the beginning and oftentimes it feels like yes. This also goes for ideas people try to share but get shut down by others because it would mean something changing to be different.
