Y’all gotta fucking quit with this ai ‘art’ for fourth wing. Not only does it look absolutely terrible (my eyes need to be bleached at its sight), you have also set COMPLETELY unrealistic expectations for how certain characters should look and which actor for the adaptation comes closest to that expectation (spoiler alert: literally fucking no one because the picture isn’t real). Instead of creating nonexisting people, maybe just pop an edible and start zooming and imagining these characters in your head. Idk just a thought.

MORE FOURTH WING TV SHOW THOUGHTS - CASTING

Here's the thing guys ... people need to be more tolerant and open-minded towards casting on tv book adaptations. About their looks specifically. I would rather we get actors that act well and bring their character's energy to life, than actors that look exactly like them. The popular take online is that Josh Heuston might play Xaden and I've seen a couple of takes on Violet, but let's stick with Xaden for my point.

I don't know if guys have seen josh heuston, if you haven't PLEASE DO. THAT MAN HAS THE SAME DESCRIPTIONS AS XADEN. LIKE THE SAME (don't talk about eye color, no one cares about that) and he is, and I'm sorry if you don't agree, BUT HE IS BEAUTIFUL. period.

HOWEVER, some people don't like him as Xaden, because he's not the same size as a freaking 2 doors frigde (geladeira electrolux de duas portas, as we would say in brazil). Which 1) it can be changed with workout and 2) it doesn't make any difference to the story whatsoever, if he's not as jacked. I think he would be great as Xaden!

That being said, I don't believe casting has started (it feels too soon). In a recent interview (as of january 2025) Rebecca Yarros commented that they have sent her a version of the pilot episode, so they're still writing it. I do believe that actors might be preparing for the audition, as there were pictures of Josh Heuston, for example, carrying fourth wing around, so he's problably studying

and to this I'll add that we're not gonna get any famous actors in this cast, because even tho it's a famous book it's not THAT famous and most of the money will go to production (to the cgi, please God) as it should btw. Like, the only possibility of a famous actor to be in the show is not show up a lot, so like, Lilith Sorregail actress (these important, yet smaller parts)

FOURTH WING TV SHOW THOUGHTS

cause I like tv shows and their production

I don't think every book needs to have an adaptation, to be honest, most of them shouldn't have one, but you know what? I'm glad Fourth Wing is getting one. Out of the many YA fantasy books out there, I think it's one of the few that could actually work as a tv show. For example: when the news came out that there was going to be an ACOTAR tv show I was like ????, because I don't think it works as one, now on the other hand Throne of Glass would be AMAZING, because just like Fourth Wing they have some elements that work better for tv shows, and one of these is LOTS OF CHARACTERS (even the ones we don't remember the name)

TOG gets the better hand in this, because they even have multiple POVs

NOW, here's a good thing about Fourth Wing's adaptation. It's a prime video and MGM studios production, which are VERY big you guys. And if I can say so myself, prime has a tendency to nail at their book adaptations. And the showrunner is Moira Walley-Beckett, whom I love.

Of course, because it's a tv show they have to cut out a lot of things, but I like to think about what they could add to bring the cinema energy to it. Like:

a scene of all the marked ones watching their parents being burned. Brutal? yes. But effective. The youngest ones we know is (was) Liam and Sloane, who were 15 and 14, so they can just keep all the actors and make a heavy moment. Open the episode with it, it would chef's kiss (put a random younger blonde girl for Sloane)

Violet loosing her brother and her father. Praying for them. Burning their things. It would also add a lot of weight to it. It could be small flashbacks, later turning into a scene, maybe oppening or closing an episode. And the importance of this is because I think we learn about this rigth in the first chapter, that is really frenatic, because it's Conscription day. It would keep things going as we learn about that

Xaden Riorson’s actions in Fourth Wing and Iron Flame both make more sense and become infinitely funnier when you remember that the man is 22-23 years old.

This man is AT BEST a first year grad student trying to finish compulsory military service in an active war zone while running the family business (ruling a legit kingdom) and taking on extracurriculars (leading a rebellion) as side hustles. On top of that there’s a literal plague of evil descending, institutional racism is against him, and his Situationship (calling Violet that cuz a lot happens there over two books and I’m trying to cover all the relationship levels) never seems to settle out for more than a month at a time.

Like, of course the decision making is not always on point. The man doesn’t even have a fully developed pre-frontal cortex yet and he hasn’t slept the recommended amount in 6 years.

ONYX STORM SPOILERS

I finally finished and guyssss I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT !!

I should have written stuff as I was reading it to post after, cause now I don't remember everything lol (obvs), but here are some random considerations in poor english:

I LOVED VIOLET IN THE ISLES! She was at the top of her game, like, scheaming in a way we have never seen so far and I loved. The scene when she poisoned everybody in Xaden's mother house?? ICONIC, she went back to her origins

AARIC. Just that. Boy is so mysterious, he rivals Xaden in that regard. And him not saying that he knew all the lenguages Dain was trying so hard to speak? Manace behaviour, we love it

RIDOC RIDOC RIDOC RIDOC. LOVE HIM SO SO MUCH. One of the best characters, one of my favorite characters, definetly my favorite character in Onyx Storm. Him being at Violet's side, having her back in a way Liam used to, advocating for her when he found out about venin Xaden, like, he was perfect this book

MORE GARRICK !! Tho it was not a lot lol but it was more! I think he's such a presence, loved him in quest squad, the one with best signet, him going after Quinn and finding Imogen T_T and on that part of the book, is Garrick venin now?? He's the new one?? Or is it Bodhi??

QUINN AND IMOGEN MY HEART BROKE FOR THEM

Between Sgaeyl igoring Xaden for a big part of the book and Tairn calling him "dark one" ... it was a tough book for Xaden

ANDARNA LEAVING WAS A BLOW YOU GUYS, and Violet being catatonic ... it hurted (On a side note: I think from the moment Andarna left until the end, everything happend SO FAST, like, it was just a lot, so it felt a bit rushed)

BUT THE ENDING IS ALL I CAN THINK NOW, like, I didn't see that coming at all, but I loved it so much!!! I have no idea what they did, like, missing dragon eggs and all that shit??? I guess in the next book we'll have Violet trying to figure it all out and loosing her head while trying to do so

in preparation for Onyx Storm, here's a thought!

I think we'll definitely get more characters that are venin, but no one knows that (like Jack Barlowe). The most popular theory is Brennan, but it could be literallly any character (the not so important ones).

And here's the thing, surely if we get a character like that, it could be (most likely) that they are liars and evil and making some evil venin things in secret. Sure. BUT, what if we get a character that turned venin kind of like Xaden did, you know?

because I think it's way more likely that a person would become venin kinda of on accident, like, because they needed more power for something or they were dying (like Jack, but he's not a good indicator of good character). Of couse, if that happens the other venin will come and be like "join our little club", but are you following me? If a person is venin it doesn't necessarily means they are EVIL evil

like, maybe, there are more venin around who, just like Xaden, are trying to fight the whole transformation thing (doesn't mean they will succed, they are not main charactes lol) but it could happen in the story
