what was the reason???

jaywon high school au 

wherein jay (a “delinquent”) covers a shift at a cat/pet cafe at the request of his friend hee, and jungwon accidentally sees him hwhwh (they dont have allergies for the sake of this au)

more rambling bc i absolutely adore high school aus

02z are 2nd years, hee is 3rd year, maknae line are 1st years

the cafe is owned by hee’s brother. jay doesn’t really work there (and he doesn’t want to because of the cafe uniform) but he’s close with hee and his brother, so he still does them a favor. hee convinces him to take it since the cafe is a bit faraway from their school.

jungwon regularly goes there (even though its far and hurts his allowance) to score brownie points with hee’s bro because jungwon thought process: get close to his brother > get close to hee sunbae > date!!!!!!!! (jungwon has a one sided crush on hee)

jay doesn’t recognize jungwon and treats him as a regular customer. jungwon feels like he saw something he shouldn’t have and for plot reasons, takes a sneaky picture of jay (but it had flash on), and jay thought he was taking a picture of the cat

hee may have accidentally slipped it up to jay about how he might have met an underclassman from the same school who was a regular at their cafe.

so the next day, jay approaches jungwon!! (ik its corny but like i want.... a kabedon...... bc jay is dramatic like that) and asks jungwon to delete the pictures. 

with red ears, jay gritted his teeth, and in a helpless tone asked jungwon, “jungwon. please delete the pictures.” jungwon had started to recite all the prayers he knew, but surprisingly, the “delinquent” wasn’t violent or threatening at all, and even seemed somewhat… cute.

jungwon complies, and jay feels relieved. they were now awkward acquaintances and eventually after some time, became friends

so jungwon finds out the only delinquent trait he has is his bleached hair and nothing else hhh jungwon wonders how rumors of him being a badass delinquent were so exaggerated when it’s really not true. he thinks the gap between jay’s appearance and actual personality is cute. 

**he also finds out that jay and hee are pretty close friends so jungwon does have a slight ulterior motive for befriending jay, similar to why he regularly goes to that cafe 

but bc im a sucker for cliches and this is a jaywon au, he finds Trivial Facts about jay more interesting, and pretty much just forgot that he had a crush on hee, until sunoo asks (reminds) him how his plan (to get close to hee’s friend and family) is doing since all he talks about is jay now

--there’s like?? also this specific scene i had imagined. probably some time after theyve become friends, jungwon unknowingly developed feelings for jay while jay already knows he has a crush on jungwon

hee asks jay to cover another shift for him, and unlike before (since it took jay a lot of convincing to agree), he readily accepted and somewhat even sounded enthusiastic? (hee finds this suspicious but he’s like. yeah ok) he tells jungwon he’s gonna cover another shift and jungwon is pleasantly surprised. so jungwon also asks to help out, and both hee and jay agree since the more help the better.

they put on the uniforms and cat ears, and jay thinks the cat ears suit jungwon, and he sneakily takes a picture. he doesn’t notice he had flash on. 

jungwon: are you taking revenge for back then?

jay: what? no. i just wanted to take a picture since you look really cute

jungwon: give me that 

jungwon takes jay’s phone and jay thought he would delete it but surprisingly jungwon turned it to the front cam, taking a selfie with both of them in the frame.

after they go home, jay sets the picture of them both as his phone’s wallpaper

jake can’t sleep.

well, that’s one way to say his problem. it’s 12 am and all he could think about is a nice bowl of black bean ramen. but he doesn’t want to cook, he’s too lazy to cook. and what better way than to ask someone else to cook it for him?

and by someon else, he meant his roommate, heeseung.

but here’s the thing though, heeseung is probably asleep by now, and waking him up would be a suicide mission. not only does he sleep like a log, but when he wakes up, he’s the grumpiest person on earth.

but no one’s stopping jake now, he’s already on his way to heeseung’s room to wake him up and ruin his night [kidding]. he opens his bedroom door, and there he is, deep in his sleep.

‘he’s probably in dreamland right now.’ jake thinks.

jake had a wonderful [not!!] idea to wake him up, and of course, it’s blasting EDM music in his ear at full maximum volume. [srsly jake?]

and you bet heeseung woke up.

“jake? what the fuck? why are you here? and most importantly, why are you blasting music in my ear at midnight?” he says furiously.

jake just smiled cheekily. he knows that heeseung isn’t actually mad at him, maybe a little annoyed, but never angry. [okay lovebirds]

“i’m hungry, can you make me ramen, please?”

jake pleaded cutely, making sure to stretch that please so heeseung would give in.

“no.” heeseung responded.

“pretty, please?” at this point, jake is begging for heeseung to cook for him, but heeseung doesn’t even look one bit fazed.

“why don’t you cook your own, jake? come on, it’s 12 am, i need to sleep.” heeseung says flatly.

queue jake pouting. “tsk. fine.” he says and went out of heeseung bedroom.

jake looks like a child not given candy during halloween right now. he’s pouting, brows furrowed, and stomping his way to the kitchen.

‘of course he wouldn’t agree, jake. what were you even thinking? it’s 12:51 am.’ he thinks.

jake was having a hard time finding a pot, so he didn’t hear heeseung entering the kitchen, hands in his pockets. he leans in the wall, just watching jake struggling to find a pot, with a smirk on his lips.

“i’ll do it.” someone says.

‘hmm? heeseung?’ jake thinks.

he looked behind him only to see heeseung smiling at him.

“hey bub, sorry about earlier, you just surprised me, that’s all.” heeseung apologizes.

“i’ll make you ramen?”

“yes, please.”

“black bean?”

“black bean.”
