Ah yes France. Home of the finest cuisines and the city of love. A lot of people dream to visit such a place full of wonder and beauty. Luckily, I had the chance to go there. Once a year at least. Well, having a French father has its perks. Let me share you what it’s like to travel to one of the worlds finest country, but this time I’m not taking you to the Eiffel tower. I’m going to take you to the country side.
If you’re from a country like the Philippines like me and plan to go to a country like France make sure to ready your bum cause it’s going to be a long ride. A flight from the Philippines to France takes up to 16 hours! Yikes! No shower for a day sheesh. But you wont just ride a plane directly from PH to FR, you have stop overs. Well, at least one stop over that is. The flight we took had a stop-over at Singapore where we had to stay for at least 3 hours at the worlds most beautiful airport, Changi airport, before we can go and head to our connected flight to Paris. Now here comes the bum-hurting part. The flight from Singapore to Paris takes 10 hours! But you don’t just get to sit inside a plane for a solid 10 hours though. The plane provided us good quality pillows and blankets that we’d need since it’s obviously going to be an overnight trip. Toiletries and socks. And also a three course meal from breakfast to dinner. And yes, they have midnight snacks too!
So after that long, bum-hurting, showerless trip we finally arrived in our destination! Paris, France! We had some of our relatives like my sister or my brother or sometimes my brother-in-law pick us up at the airport whenever we arrive. Since my dad no longer lives in France and he sold his old house, we stay at my sisters place which is in Brois-les-rois, Evreoux which is in northern France. The drive to go there takes atleast 2-3 hours which is extra abuse for our bum.
Along the way of the place where my sister and her husband lives is a road full of nothing but trees. Yes, you have to go through woods before you reach her place. In the woods you can actually see deer’s and wild rabbits roaming around which is pretty awesome. When you get to brois-les-rois though, the place is just full of history. Castles and giant cathedrals are everywhere. LITERALLY EVERYWHERE. I definitely wouldn’t get tired of looking at those.
Since we arrived in France at the month of June, which was my birth month, and I was, and probably still am, very extra. I decided why not celebrate my birthday here? And my sister, being the most generous and lovable human being on this planet, decided to surprise me with tickets to *drum role*……… DISNEY LAND! I mean, come on? It’s Disneyland! You’re never to old for Disney! I got so excited especially as someone who was a Disney kid. Travelling all the way there took at least 2 hours since we where from the north but it didn’t get boring though. Well maybe just a little but not so much! Wanna know why? Because I got to see the streets of Paris by day and how beautiful it was. I also got to see Gare de leon which is one of the most well known Train stations in the world! And if you’re not familiar with it, then let me just simply tell you it was the train station where Mr. Bean got his necktie stuck at a sandwich machine. A scene from Mr. Bean’s holiday. When we got to Disneyland, there where hundreds or maybe even thousands of people! It was jammed packed! But no one could ever stop this Disney kid who travelled for 16 whole hours from the other side of the earth and hurt her bum so bad and not get to experience Disney land!
The place was magical! All the rides and the mascots and princes and princesses’ and of course, the food! I got a taste of the famous Pomme D’amour or apple of love. Basically, it’s just apples on a stick covered with hardened sugar syrup with red coloring. But of course, My most favorite part. Getting to see the Disney castle. Something that I’d only seen on every beginning of every Disney movie, is now right in front of me. And it’s pink too! It was truly magical. It was one of my wishes to actually get the chance to visit the castle and here I am! A sight I would never get tired of. Truly it is and always will be memorable!
