Growing up my mum had this table in her room as a desk. When they moved to England my parents sawed the legs off, and sat around it with friends and cigarettes and vodka––quite a bit apparently––then they gave it to me and it lived at the end of my bed. I wrote the portfolio of work that got me accepted to university at this table. It’s been in my old room for a few years while I was moving around London a lot but recently I brought it to my flat and having it here is such magic; it’s amazing thinking about how every mark on this wood is my family, sitting around it for all these years, and how we get to continue that. Right now, it’s my workspace 🖤

it’s a monday but classes got cancelled bc of a national transport strike. the government is really testing my patience today. i’ve been studying for my history exam the past few hours and so many lines from my readings are so timely and i’m furious! ! !

Saturday 30/1

Yesterday was spent in the Malmö city library studying and today will be spent studying as well. I’ve had a rough week so I really needed the weekend, I’m celebrating by partying with my friends tonight ✨✨

easing back into doing work with the introductory problem sets for this year’s courses while i wait for my project supervisor to email me back. i did about 2 hours today split between the condensed matter problem set and finishing ‘a very short introduction to superconductivity’ (in between doing exciting things like cleaning the kitchen). i’m using forest again to keep me off my phone, and hopefully i’ll be able to get back into the swing of working again before term starts in ~3 weeks!

10/9 - bit tense today, hundreds of thousands of people in my home state of California are expected to be without power for the next few days. Lots of preparation and planning to make sure I’m caught up on work before mine goes out as well.
