Final Portfolio- My Life in different times
This is a portfolio of joiners of my life at different times of the day or on a whole different day. I wanted to incorporate a lot of different times, whether it be morning, afternoon, or even night. I also wanted to show those cloudy days, sunny days, etc.
~All Photos were taking with an iPhone 7 plus~

The reset room—This is a joiner of my room; it is pretty small, and I share it with my sister. I did not show my bunk bed because I don't really spend much time on my bed. I'm at my desk or using my restroom whenever needed. I like that there is chaos in this image. I also made it small because it is not a big part of my identity.

Sleepover—This is a joiner of a sister sleepover that my sisters and I have implemented recently. It is not a tradition that we join our mattresses together on our bedroom floor, and we have a sleepover every Friday (sometimes Saturdays). Although we fight a lot and sometimes we don't get along, we are always there for each other. Our parents always remind us that we will always have each other all the time.

Room of comfort— On weekends when we all get to sleep in, I like going to my parents' room and lying down on my sister's bed. Throughout the day I like to go there as a place of isolation and comfort. At times my room feels overwhelming, knowing that as soon as I step foot into my room, I have tasks to do; sometimes it feels like an office. So my parents' room is where I go.

Student- As all of us are students, I take my role as a student seriously; it's always such a big part of me. I like studying and going to school. Sometimes I go on days when I don't have class to work on my homework, as I get distracted. As a senior, I spent all 4 years at UTD so it shaped who I am.

Welcome in- Not only do I attend UTD, but I also work there. I've worked at the bookstore for about a year now, and it is a great place to network, and the staff there are all nice and friendly. In the mornings it is not that busy. It starts getting busy in the afternoons, especially as it is graduation season.

Familia es todo—"Family is everything" is what it means. At the end of the day, I am very close to my family, and I love them a lot. They have always supported what I do. I love my family and my culture. I am proud of my family and who I am.

Art Event
I went to the DMA to see the When You See Me: Visibility Contemporary Art History exhibition. I really liked the exhibition. It has been quite a while since I have gone to the DMA, and it was really nice to see all the exhibitions that are happening. I really did not know what to expect when attending the exhibition. But it was really beautiful. The theme was surrounded by identity, whether it be based on culture, race, or LGBTQ.

There were many surrounding identity; my favorite piece was this one above. How Mali Lost Her Accent, 1991, is made on a padded canvas, and it was really cool to see the details, and I immediately saw the picture of a woman of color who is deciding what school to go to. In the artist statement, they mentioned how they came to the United States for a better future and how they had to choose an American school while still trying to hold on to their heritage. At first glance, I thought it was about women of color not being able to or not having the same opportunities for education. It still hit me pretty hard because, as a Hispanic woman, there were already certain stigmas surrounding Hispanic girls, and I needed to work twice as hard to get to where I am now. Reading the artist statement is where I started to tear up, seeing how the uncertainty of the girl in the drawing struggling to choose what university to go to because of not fitting in, but also having spent much time in America, they lost their accent, or it could be that they had to lose their accent because she was not being given the same opportunities as the rest.
I went to the UT Dallas on-campus exhibition Family Photos: Queer Representation in the Comer Collection. I really liked this exhibition as well. I was the only one, so I got to really see each image in detail and really soak in what I was looking at. In contrast to the DMA exhibition, which had a variety of mediums. This exhibition is mostly photographs. That represent the lgbtq+ community.

This is the photo that stood out to me. Joey Lying on David's Bed, Brooklyn, 2001. It is a photograph of Joey Gabriel, who is a transgender queen. The photographer really loved them, and it is really important and significant because the photographer only takes pictures of people who are close to her. This really shows how the people that are close to us could be part of the queer community. The posture and the lighting in the photo are very gold; they enhance the dress, and because the background is very dark and saturated, they really put the focus on Joey Gabriel. I researched about this person and not much can be found online so I am very glad that I got to know a little about this person based on the photograph and the artist statement.

Blog Prompt- Passage pt. 2
⚠️ Warning loud beeping noise ⚠️
~all videos shot on iPhone 7 plus~
For this video, I used CapCut and combined previous video from last blog with a bunch of videos of my favorite hobbies. I wanted to incorporate passage as time, and wanting to do what I want but not having enough time because I’m either working or focusing on school. Things that I like to do is go to museums, coloring, decorating with stickers/ journaling/ decorating photo cards, and arts and crafts. I really have so many hobbies that I honestly consider them as quiet hobbies. Going to museums isn’t entirely a quiet hobby as you are surrounded by people and depending on the museum of might even have music/ sounds. But it is still something that I enjoy by myself hence the quiet hobbies. Sometimes at work I am constantly overstimulated from the customers and the background noise from events that might be happening or the tours that we get that it balances with my quiet or introverted hobbies. I really wanted to incorporate the meaning of passage by taking something loud and balancing it with silence.
I used the glitch effects that are in CapCut to add a transition to add what goes on in my mind and have that overwhelming feel to it. As well as I added a beeping noise when the videos are going quickly to show a more intense feel of times where I feel like I am suffocating and burnt out.
I’ve tried to used CapCut in the past before and I just never understood nor am I good at editing so I really did put in a lot of effort to make this as smooth as possible. But overall it was fun and interesting to use.

Blog Prompt – Passage
~Video was taken on iPhone 7 plus~
For this prompt, I wanted to incorporate the passing of time. I am passing time at work by adding coupons to the shopping bags, as it was not busy at work. You can hear the background noise as there are a lot of people due to the college fair that was happening. The rustling of the bag adding more noise, and as I move on to the next bag. Passage being a part of time and passage of the action of doing something to pass time.

Prompt- GIF
~All pictures shot on Iphone 7 plus~
I wanted to show the "energy" vibe of the celcius drink so I adjusted the exposure of each photo to create a chaotic gif.
The background was from www.PixaBay.com. When figuring out what other gif I should do I kept staring at the Kleenex box and it reminded me of the pandemic says and it was about 5 years ago when we went into lockdown and thought about creating a promotion to cover your nose when sneezing and this is what I came up with.

Surrealism Blog-
~I used my iPhone 7 plus camera and photos from https://pixabay.com/~

Artist Statement: I was inspired by the theories of government hidden spots or restricted areas such as Area 51 and apocalypse-type universes. The first image is a mystery cave with a manmade bridge that seems to lead somewhere. The second image shows the first thing they see after passing through the cave. The third and fourth images show other things they see as they keep exploring this other world that look similar to ours. I used a lot of the curve features and hue/saturation to create that "Alice in Wonderland" color scheme.

Blog Prompt- AI and Photography
According to the article How Will AI Transform Photography?, AI used in photography can be used to create and enhance creative images. Seeing that AI is really advances, you can now type exactly what you want and it will generate it for you. I think that it makes up for the special effects that you can't create in real life. I see it affecting photography in a way that as the article ‘AI isn’t a threat’ – Boris Eldagsen, whose fake photo duped the Sony judges, hits back describes, ai offers creative ways to allow them to dig deep in their imagination and don't feel contraints to explore different concepts. On the other hand, it would be really difficult to differentiate what is real and ai, allowing for misinformation to spread quickly, and the most common one it can potentially take over the photography field as well as other fields that work with ai. In the article The Great AI Debate: Will Artificial Intelligence Revolutionize or Ruin Photography? they talk about how it can impact they way editing and image generation can be much more efficient for photographers and allows for non professionals to create images in a simpler way. The most common concern from all three article is that ai could take away the photography career as well as others similar to it.
~copyright and images we can use~
Copyright according to What Visual and Graphic Artists Should Know about Copyright it is a legal protection about ownership and have rights to use, distribute, and have profit from your own creations. This automatically happens when you create a physical art, when creating digital art it's important to register your work in order to prevent any people from taking your work. We can use images that we created ourselves or ask for permission (most images have a copyright statement or says whether or not we can use it). Images that we can also use are ai as it's something that we can all use.

Blog Prompt 6- Joiners , Tryptic, and Grid
~ All photos were taken with an iPhone 7plus~
This is my joiner inspired by David Hockney. I used 8 images out of the 73 images that I took for this assignment. Most of them were repetition and others I realized that it was not needed. The more challenging thing would be trying to align the images. I had to erase some parts for one image. I duplicated the cup mess on the right side to emphasize it more. I added a blurry image that I took to add more life to the image. I wanted to incorporate my mess at the beginning and the after of cleaning my desk. It was really difficult to align the pictures but then I realized that the concept doesn't align with messy and clean. So some images do align and others don't.

Glitch in Photography
Rosa Menkman is one that caught my eye. Their website is very interesting and exploring the website. The interesting this is that the website doesn't only have a glitch effect, whenever you hover over a button it also glitches and it moves around. I really love how the website is interactive and how it the artist chose to approach the glitch effect.
Sabato Visconti has a unique style. They have vibrant glitches, they also do geometric glitches which is really fun to see. This is one of my inspirations for one of my pictures for the assignment. Some glitches are very hard to see what the original image looked like such as Things Left Unsaid and some are more easy to see such as your experiences aren't real.

Blog Prompt 5 - Glitch
~all photos were taken with an iPhone 7 Plus camera~
this image was used in a previous assignment (photomontage)

I used layers to do this glitch effect, desaturated the hues for one layer then I added another layer where I took out the red channel. I moved the layer without the red channel and moved it left. Then I grouped the layers together and duplicated all the group layers then I used the shape tool to cut out some rectangles and moved them around. I liked the desaturation of the image so I left it like that.
It changes the meaning to a previous one because it creates an alternative reality, like Spider-man into the Spider-verse, were all multiverses are colliding into one.

This image I took a while back were I created scrapbook cover for a CD case based on my favorite single (don't go insane by Dpr Ian). I wanted to keep the colors so I didn't desaturate the image. The process is still the same so I duplicated the image and removed the red chanel. I was going to add lines and I had created one with lines to add a more glitch effect but I chose to re-do it because I wanted to see if it would look different if I added a grainy texture like a tv static glitch. I loved how this one turned out! I used a rectangle and oval tool to cut out some parts of the image to add more glitch features
It creates a deeper meaning to "don't go insane" and adds to that insane/paranoia feel. And because it's a picture with me holding the CD case it adds a p.o.v.
i know i didn't have to add a third image but this is how the previous had turned out...

Blog Prompt 4- Photomontage

Similar to the DADA method, where she used each quadrant to showcase something. I divided the image in two, and in the top half, you can see how I cloned my doll keychain to stamp 3 of the same dolls, keeping the similar saturation and hue, which I adjusted to show similarity. In the center, I wrote "Die-versity" to showcase the removal of DEI in some stores, basically showing that diversity is dying or fading. I used the text option offered in Photoshop to create the word. For the background, I started with all black and then used the paintbrush as well as the Mandela symmetry to create my own Mandela effect. I then used a tool that selected different areas of the scenery, which is my apartment view, and cut out random spots to let the background show.
• What is your object’s or self’s cultural relevance or meaning?
As a Mexican woman, the DEI restrictions really affect me, as stores are saying that they are no longer promoting or showcasing any of the products that come from Mexico or Latino businesses. The clones of my keychain plush show how I feel as if I can't be myself and I have to act or hide who I am.
• How do you want to celebrate or change, or critique that meaning?
I want to change how, even though a lot of people aren't talking about it, DEI restrictions don't seem bad or that severe, but this could turn into something much worse, and slowly our beloved country that is known for its diversity will no longer exist.
• What do you reveal to others? What do you hide?
Though I am using my love for trinkets and cute stuff to represent me and revealing that it's me, the saturation and hue change are hiding my true colors and person; therefore, not knowing the true look of the keychain is showing that I am not showing my true identity. It is really hard to notice but at the edge of the feet of the doll you can see a blur in the buildings showing how we are slowly fading away
• How do you view identity? Your own? Others?
I view identity as who I am. What makes me... me? What hobbies and likes do I have that go with my identity? How I act and showcase myself also determines my identity and my background as well. How I view the identity of others the same way. What interests do they have, their background, the way they portray themselves is how they see their identity.

Blog Ex-Editing
I couldn't upload the images but here is my response to the assignment.
What is high resolution, and what is low resolution?
High resolution means a picture has more pixels, resulting in a clearer image. Low resolution means that an image has fewer pixels and creates a pixelated image.
2. How comfortable are you with Photoshop and Lightroom?
I consider myself a beginner, as I only had used it twice for an assignment for a previous class. I've never used Lightroom, so it's still something that I am excited to learn more about.

Blog 5: Identity
~All photos were taken on an iphone 7plus camera~

I took this while I was on the highway, I wanted to capture the speed because it really shows how fast time is going for me as I graduate this semester. I also like the blurriness that it took as for the uncertainty of what is to come.
This was taken around 11pm.

I took this because I am always at school, almost 24/7, and I always have an energy drink with me. I also use the computers at school, as they have apps that I can't really download on my laptop, such as PhotoShop. It shows that I am a hard worker and that I prioritize school
This was with the Founders Computer Lab Light.

At the end of the day, I really like collecting toys and figurines. I believe I had a good childhood, and it's something that I can't let go of, and I really love collecting toys and figurines as it adds joy to my life. You can even see a graduate school pamphlet behind it because, even though I like my child-free care personality, it is always at the back of my head. So I think these pictures really represent me.
I took this with the morning natural lighting.

Blog 4: lighting
~ All photos were taken on an iphone 7plus camera ~

The time was at 8:49 am, I used the bird's eye view to take a picture. I put in on my windo frame to get a good light and see the difference throughout time.

This was taken at 2:28 pm and the lighting was similar to the first one but the only difference is it looks tanner.

This was taken at 6:02 pm, the lighting is definitely different compared to the first two images. The doll looks tanner than the first two and the light is mostly on his top half of his face creating a shadow on his face. You can also tell were the sun was.

Reading 1 Response
The reading really shows how physical images create a sentimental value to what is happening in the image and also create a unique experience allowing to reminisce, something that can't be replaced and is something that can be framed and you can see in your own home. Contrary to digital images, it's easy to share an image, and you can easily lose the original image as it can be changed. If you want to print the image, it often loses its quality.
I believe that paying attention to my surroundings is very important, as it helps you frame and capture what you want. Creating an image that you want to capture/portray. It also shows how you want the image to be seen and what you want the viewer to see. It also allows you to set the mood and create a feeling that interprets what you want, almost as if composing a song.

Blog 3- Composition
~ all photos taken with an iPhone 7 plus camera ~
Four Corners: I wanted to make sure that eyes from each figure were in each corner. I used my desk lamp's all-white LED light setting.

Division: It was cloudy and sprinkly, therefore creating a mood in the image.

3 and 4 are 2 different photographs of the same subject matter: I used my desk lamp white and yellow LED lightning setting. I also adjusted the focus to be on the table that is in the last quadrant. creating the setting that it's tea time. This is a very zoomed-in image of my miniature house that I made. But instead of zooming in using my phone, I just moved close to the house, almost being inside the room, creating a human's point of view, almost as if marketing a house for sale.

The zoomed-out picture is with the same lighting and same angle to show the perspective of how small it actually is. I wanted to really incorporate the size, as you can see on the left side of my doll, creating a size comparison of how small it is.

Blog 2- Scavenger Hunt
~ all photos taken with an iPhone 7 plus camera ~
Texture: I applied a vivid filter that is provided by the camera app; it made the color of the vegetable pop, enhancing the texture. This was taken from a bird's eye using the lighting from Walmart (the lights are really good, haha)

Lines: I made sure that the sky window from Walmart aligned with the post, creating a line as well. This was taken at an angle and zoomed in.

Pattern: This was taken outside; it was cloudy, creating a cinematic mood in the picture. I did the rule of thirds and made sure that the logo was in the first corner quadrant.

Worm's eye: This was taken using a desk lamp with an all-white LED light setting. This created the visual of an insect's point of view, as these trinkets are actually miniature.

Geometric/Shapes: This was also taken using Walmart's lighting and taken from a bird's-eye view. I made sure that all the Starbucks logos were facing one direction.

Color: I used the vivid filter provided by the camera app to enhance the colors of the sugars. I also used the tag holders to add a division composition
