          sofia  hasn’t  stepped  foot  outside  of  her  apartment  in  the  last  twelve  hours .  it’s  mostly  due  to  her  failure  of  filming  an  intro  for  her  latest  makeup  tutorial ,  so  now  she’s  walking  around  in  a  FULL  face  (  while  sweating  under  the  barcelona  sun  )  and  praying  that  she  can  get  herself  together  before  it  gets  too  late .  headphones  in  and  eyes  glued  to  her  phone  screen ,  sofia  maneuvers  through  the  crowd  as  her  thumbs  move  quickly  over  the  device’s  screen .  her  lithe  frame  moves  through  SLIVERS  of  space  as  she  tries  to  distract  herself , up  until  her  frame  goes  crashing  into  another  and  she  rips  one  of  the  pods  out  of  her  ear .  ‘  i’m  so  sorry  !  ’  she  apologizes  profusely ,  the  three  words  leaving  her  mouth  four  times  more .  ‘  i  wasn’t  paying  attention  i’m  so  --  i’m  so  sorry  ...  again  !  ’

what was a cringey trend you were a part of?

         ‘  i’m  guilty  of  participating  in  that  terrible  DIY  phase  everyone  was  in  a  few  years  ago .  i’ve  never  been  good  at  crafts  so  what  made  me  think  anything  was  worth  posting  on  youtube  ?  not  to  mention ,  i  like ,  broke  my  bed  frame  …  so  my  dad  wasn’t  too  happy  with  me .  ’

         ✶ — › for  once  sangjun  ISN’T  dressed  in  a  huge  black  hoodie  that  hides  his  features  from  the  entire  world  —  he’d  had  to  face-time  with  his  parents  a  little  while  ago  &  to  make  SURE  they  didn’t  question  how  he  was  spending  his  time  in  barcelona,  he’d  opted  for  a  nice  button up  and  a  pair  of  skinny  jeans.  which  he  could  not  WAIT  to  rid  himself  of  as  soon  as  he  got  home.  but  he  also  didn’t  want  to  waste  his  time  tending  to  wounds  when  he  DID  get  home,  so  he  figured  right  now  was  the  perfect  time  to  do  so..  even  if  people  who  happened  to  be  passing by  kept  giving  him  STRANGE  looks.  it  wasn’t  as  if  he’d  see  them  on  a  day  to  day  basis,  so  what  did  it  really  matter?  he’d  much  rather  spend  his  time  at  home  simply  relaxing  on  the  couch,  watching  some  STUPID  television  show  with  his  dog  until  he  fell  asleep.  he’s  fine  with  people  giving  him  strange  looks,  but  feeling  someone  STARING  at  him  is  what  made  him  feel  slightly  uneasy.  "depends  on  the  ointment,  honestly.  tried  some  that  didn’t  work  for  shit  a  few  weeks  ago,  went  back  to  using  booze  because  i  know  it  ACTUALLY  works..“  sangjun  replies,  shrugging  his  shoulders  gently  before  glancing  up  at  her  with  an  almost  too  soft  smile  for  it  to  come  from  him  of  all  people.  "let  me  guess,  your  bag  is  like  one  of  those  mary  poppin’s  bags,  endless  supply  of  shit  you  never  in  a  MILLION  years  think  you’d  need  —  but  hey,  if  you  do,  you’ve  got  it?”  there’s  a  hint  of  playfulness  in  sam’s  tone  as  he  speaks,  reaching  over  to  grab  the ointment  from  her,  patting  the  seat  next  to  him  as  an  invitation  for  her  to  sit.  "with  as  often  as  this  happens,  you’d  think  i’d  get  SMART  enough  to  start  carrying  around  stuff  like  this  myself.“

            warm  summer  nights  had  always  been  sofia’s  favorite ,   whether  it  be  back  in  her  hometown  or  even  now  in  barcelona .  truth  be  told ,  sofia  wasn’t  much  of  a  night  life  kind  of  person  --  if  she  had  it  her  way ,  she’d  always  be  snuggled  up  in  her  cold  apartment ,  lounging  under  a  blanket  and  binge  watching  until  her  eyes  are  sore .  the  only  reason  she  came  out  was  to  get  her  ingredients  and  then  she’d  be  holed  up  in  her  room  for  the  next  twelve  hours .  going  to  the  little  twenty - four  hour  store  is  what  leads  her  to  this  encounter ,  and  while  some  would  consider  it  to  be  STRANGE ,  sofia  was  intrigued .  ‘  i’m  sorry  for  staring ,  ’  she  nearly  blurts ,  a  warm  sensation  building  in  the  apples  of  her  cheeks .  ‘  my  dad  always  told  me  i’d  get  myself  into  trouble  with  it .  ’  her  slim  fingers  push  her  hair  behind  her  left  ear ,  teeth  digging  into  her  lower  lip  for  a  moment .  a  soft  laugh  spills  from  her  brims .  ‘  well ,  it  does  depend  on  the  ointment ,  but  if  you’re  using  that  cheap  stuff  --  it’s  essentially  oil  and  water ,  ’  her  shoulders  rise  and  fall  a  bit  nonchalantly .  ‘  ointment  and  a  good  wrap  will  do  you  better ,  scout’s  honor .  the  alcohol  will  DRY  it  up ,  yeah  but  you’re  gonna  be  in  pain  every  time  you  flex  your  fingers .  ’  sofia  can’t  resist  the  playful  eye  roll  that  comes  following  his  words .  ‘  between  my  stubborn  clumsiness  and  my  love  for  tote  bags  with  pockets ,  mary  poppins’  got  nothing  on  me .  ’  sofia  takes  his  invitation  and  sits  on  the  bench ,  setting  her  grocery  bag  by  her  feet  and  her  purse  at  her  side .  ‘  i  have  a  nice  little  collection  of  first  aid  kits  --  comes  in  handy  with  my  ability  to  trip  over  THIN  air .  as  a  gift ,  i’ll  let  you  hold  on  to  that  one .  use  it  to  remember  me  in  the  future .  ’

           𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐂𝐄  𝐇𝐄  𝐂𝐀𝐌𝐄  𝐓𝐎  barcelona  he  hasn’t  gone  a  day  without  at  least  three  people  begging  for  him  to  stop  and  sign  something  or  take  a  picture  with  them.  he  appreciated  the  support  from  fans  but  it  made  it  extremely  hard  to  actually  enjoy  being  out  of  the  spotlight  when  he’s  constantly  reminded  of  who  he  was.  however,  lukas  is  relieved  when  she  asks  him  to  just  take  a  picture  of  just  her  and  it’s  so  ironic  that  it  almost  has  him  burst  out  laughing.  who  would  ask  an  award  winner  that  just  finished  a  world  tour  to  take  a  picture  ?  maybe  he  was  doing  a  better  job  at  blending  in  than  he  thought  —  he’d  definitely  have  to  text  his  friends  about  this  later.    ❛  sure,  ❜    he  shrugs  and  stands  up,    ❛  how  many  did  you  want  ?  ❜

            sofia  may  be  internet  famous  (  and  the  term  alone  makes  her  cringe  ) ,  but  she  never  understood  the  appeal  of  having  an  assistant .  in  most  instances ,  she  would  have  set  up  her  tripod  to  capture  her  pictures ,  but  it  wasn’t  working  and  sofia  was  nearly  at  her  whit’s  end .  coming  across  the  male  was  by  far  the  BEST  thing  to  happen  all  day ,  so  she  nearly  jumps  for  joy  when  he  agrees  to  it .  ‘  thank  you  so  much ,  ’  sofia  beams  while  setting  her  bag  down  in  one  of  the  chairs .  ‘  if  it  weren’t  for  you ,  i  would  have  gone  home  as  one  SAD  girl .  ’  a  chuckle  falls  from  her  lips  as  she  moves  a  couple  of  feet  away ,  making  sure  to  not  be  in  the  way  of  passing  tourists  and  citizens .  sofia  ponders  for  a  minute  before  answering  his  question  and  striking  her  first  pose .  ‘  hm ,  how  about  you  tell  me  when  we’ve  got  a  good  one ,  yeah  ?  ’

          𝐓𝐇𝐄  𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖  𝐈𝐒  𝐁𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓𝐇𝐓𝐀𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐆  —  it’s  one  of  the  little  things  jisung  has  grown  to  adore  about  barcelona  because  it  seems  like  wherever  he  goes,  the  scenery  follows.  at  this  right  moment,  he’s  drinking  in  the  view  that  he’s  able  to  witness  by  standing  on  top  of  a  mountain  (  the  climb  wasn’t  that  long,  thankfully  )  &  the  producer  is  already  taking  down  mental  notes  of  all  the  potential  places  that  could  make  it  into  his  current  project.  after  a  good  moment  of  appreciating  the  beauty  and  wandering  around  to  find  the  most  flattering  spot  for  taking  pictures,  jisung  finally  turns  around  to  face  a  strawberry  blonde  haired  girl, extending  his  hand  with  his  little  camera  in  it.  “  take  a  picture,  will  you?  ”  then,  he  fires  a  smile,  already  stuffing  his  hands  into  the  pockets  of  his  loose  pants  to  strike  a  nonchalant  pose  before  quickly  adding:  “  get  my  best  angle.  ”

            sofia  wasn’t  one  for  PHYSICAL  activity .  if  she  had  it  her  way ,  she’d  still  be  curled  up on  her  couch  binge  watching  whatever  was  next  in  her  netflix  list .  however ,  she  figures  that  she’ll  take  rockie  out  for  a  walk  (  and  then  said  walk  turns  into  a  hike  up  a  mountain  with  some  of  the  most  gorgeous  views  she’s  ever  seen  ) .  sofia  figures  that  taking  her  camera  along  would  be  her  best  bet ,  as  she  captures  herself ,  rockie ,  and  the  view  as  she  ascends  the  mountain .  once  she’s  at  the  top ,  sofia’s  sweating ,  but  she  feels  good  nonetheless .  she’s  in  the  middle  of  filling  up  a  bowl  of  water  for  rockie  when  she  hears  an  oh - so  FAMILIAR  voice  behind  her .  ‘  well ,  if  it  isn’t  mister  jisung  seo ,  ’  sofia  stands  to  her  full  height ,  and  sweeps  her  hair  off  of  her  shoulders .  ‘  a  picture  ?  are  we  cataloging  this  outfit  for  the  no  pile  or  is  this  simply  for  instagram  ?  ’  the  shutter  clicks  as  she  does  her  teasing ,  handing  the  camera  back  after  a  few  pictures .  ‘  speaking  of  clothes ,  are  you  coming  back  to  the  store  any  time  soon  ?  we’re  getting  the  next  summer  collection  soon .  ’

   · • ·   late nights are not theo’s thing. it’s something they’ve never really been able to shake, even after moving to barcelona ( where late nights are supposed to be everyone’s thing, because how else would you survive the height of summer? ). but they’ve decided to make an effort tonight, for their friends’ sake ( invitations are hard to turn down ), and so here they are. dressed in their typical attire, a simple concert t-shirt ( handed down from an older sibling, as much as theo wishes they’d gotten it themself ) and a pair of faded jeans ( no jacket tonight, the air still far too warm for that ), they stand with their back to a wall, watching the people around them, listening to the conversations — but never quite grasping the meaning. “ it’s times like these, ” they muse, “ that i really miss zurich. ”

(  it’s said in halting, uncertain spanish, as if theo isn’t entirely sure of their phrasing. they miss confusing tourists with their odd german and feeling confident about their words. the culture, they can deal with. the politics, they’re coping with. but language, they have found, is a barrier that often proves far more insurmountable than people like to believe.  )

          if  sofia  had  it  HER  way ,  she  would  have  spent  her  time  into  the  early  morning  with  her  eyes  glued  to  her  computer  screen .  it’s  definitely  not  one  of  her  healthiest  habits , but  she  doesn’t  like  to  sleep  until  she’s  got  at  least  half  of  her  footage  edited .  after  spending  nearly  three  hours  curled  up  in  front  of  her  computer  and  in  a  slightly  UNCOMFORTABLE  position ,  sofia  finally  decides  to  get  out  of  her  apartment  for  some  fresh  air .   she’s  dressed  casually  in  black  leggings  and  a  long  sleeved  over - sized  cowboy  bebop  tee  (  and  the  long  sleeves  makes  NO  sense  due  to  the  summer  heat ,  but  it  works  since  sofia  likes  her  apartment  to  be  ice  cold  ) ,  but  as  she  goes  for  a  walk  with  rockie  along  the  sidewalk ,  sofia  decides  to  take  a  break  to  give  the  pooch  a  treat .

          she’s  PARTIALLY  startled  when  she  hears  someone  speak ,  but  stands  to  her  full  height  as  she  responds .  ‘  sometimes  i  feel  the  same  way  about  brisbane ,  ’  she  counters  in  spanish  as  well ,  rubbing  a  hand  against  the  top  of  rockie’s  head .  ‘  barcelona’s  gorgeous ,  but  nothing  ever  beats  home ,  eh  ?  ’  one  of  her  brows  quips  as  the  friendly  pup  approaches  the  other .  ‘  hm ,  penny  for  your  thoughts  ?  ’

           he  sits  outside  a  small  café  with  a  latte  sat  in  front  of  him  while  absentmindedly  scrolling  through  his  various  social  media  accounts  and  blasting  some  music  through  his  headphones.  the  pitch  black  shades  sat  on  the  bridge  of  his  nose  being  the  only  thing  hiding  his  identity.  lukas  hadn’t  told  anyone  where  he  was  nor  his  manager,  the  only  ones  who  knew  he  was  in  spain  were  his  closest  friends  and  the  occasional  fan  that  he’d  bumped  into  on  the  street  ⁠—  everyone  else  was  being  left  in  the  dark.  he  can  feel  the  presence  of  someone  behind  him  and  glances  over  his  shoulder  for  only  a  second.    ❛  yes  ?  ❜    he  asks  aloud  even  before  taking  his  earbuds  out.

            sofia’s  in  the  middle  of  getting  some  pictures  for  her  instagram ,  and  despite  being  photogenic  from  ALL  angles  along  with  the  absolutely  perfect  lighting  that  she’s  getting ,  the  influencer  is  struggling  to  get  the  right  picture .  sofia  wants  to  stomp  her  foot ,  all  she  wants  to  do  is  get  a  picture  of  her  outfit ,  but  she  decides  that  she’ll  bite  the  bullet  and  ask  for  someone’s  help .  for  the  most  part ,  the  girl  struggles  with  finding  someone  who’s  willing  to  do  it  for  her ,  and  while  her  language  abilities  get  her  far ,  everyone’s  BUSTLING  and  has  no  time  for  something  as  superficial  as  a  photo .  when  she  spots  someone  sitting  outside  of  a  cafe ,  sofia  nearly  skips  over  to  the  point  where  she  almost  trips .  she  beams  when  he  acknowledges  her .  ‘  i’m  sorry  to  bother  you ,  ’  the  girl’s  australian  accent  drips  like  honey .  ‘  but  could  you  do  me  the  BIGGEST  favor  and  take  a  photograph  of  me  ?  i’ve  been  struggling  all  day  and  in  desperate  need .  ’

         ✶ — › his  head  is  POUNDING,  mind  trying  desperately  to  keep  him  awake  though  he  hasn't  slept  in  almost  forty  hours,  his  knuckles  carrying  the  familiar  STING  that  he  only  gets  after  a  fight.  this  is  what  he  gets  for  staying  out  so  late  —  drinking  after  THREE  back-to-back-to-back  fights  (  that  sangjun  won,  of  course  )  as  an  attempt  to  DULL  the  sting  of  his  freshly  bruised  knuckles  &  various  cuts  and  scrapes  he  might  have  gotten  during  each  match.  now,  though?  he’s HUNGOVER,  sitting  on  a  bench  outside  of  a  grocery  store  with  a  bottle  of  vodka,  gauze  &  a  bag  of  FROZEN  peas  in  hand.  his  go-to  ’healing‘  method.  clean  the  cuts  with  booze,  wrap  them  up,  numb  them  with  frozen  vegetables  &  then  call  it  a  DAY.  however,  right  as  he  goes  to  pour  some  of  the  alcohol  over  one  of  his  hands,  he  notices  someone  standing  next  to  the  bench  out  of  the  corner  of  his  eye.  “am  i  sitting  in  your  spot  or  some  shit?"  he  mumbles  gently,  placing  his  head  into  the  PALM  of  his  hand  for  a  moment.  "you're  more  than  welcome  to  sit,  just  don't  judge  me  for  my  lack  of  medical  skills…  please.”

            it’s  a  RARITY ,  to  see  sofia  without  her  camera  in  her  hands ,  but  she  has  enough  footage  for  this  week’s  upload .  instead ,  she  opts  for  a  trip  to  the  grocery  store ,  where  she  takes  her  time  finding  the  necessary  ingredients  for  shrimp  alfredo .  she’s  in  her  usual  attire :  an  over - sized  thrifted  tee  that  swallows  her  figure  while  falling  to  her  mid  thigh  and  a  pair  of  shorts  that  she’ll  immediately  rip  off  the  moment  she  crosses  the  threshold  of  her  apartment .  she  can’t  wait  for  the  hours  she’ll  spend  at  her  desk  eating  and  editing (  no  matter  how  nuts  she  may  sound  ) ,  almost  feeling  GIDDY  at  the  idea  (  and  she  also  can’t  wait  to  be  home  with  rockie  again  ) .  so ,  she  pays  for  her  products  and  makes  her  way  out  of  the  grocery  store  while  swinging  the  bags  in  her  hand ,  up  until  she’s  STARING  at  the  person  sitting  on  the  bench  outside .  her  dad  always  taught  her  that  it  was  IMPROPER  to  stare ,  but  the  strawberry  blonde  is  transfixed  until  his  gruff  voice  fills  the  air  between  them .  ‘  oh ,  ah  ha ,  ’  she  lets  out  a  nervous  chuckle ,  teeth  digging  into  her  lower  lip .  ‘  i  was  just  gonna  say  ...  uh ,  an  ointment  is  better  than  the  vodka .  ’   she  digs  into  her  purse  momentarily ,  and  finds  what  she’s  looking  for  before  holding  it  out .  ‘  don’t  ask  why  i  have  one  in  my  bag  like  some  mom  friend ,  but  save  the  vodka  for  drinking  instead  of  wound  dressing .  ’
