Tech Week - HAIR
After three weeks of rehearsals, it is finally time for us to move in to the theatre to begin tech. This is long process where we try to bring together all the elements from lights to sound to costume to make-up. Long hours and lots of adjustments. It can test one’s patience and will definitely test your stamina.

But this process also brings the cast and creative team even closer together. Through the suffering we mend and through the sweat & tears we bond - collectively we create the world that the audience deserve to see. We get to appreciate the minutest details in the text and try to apply the things we worked on during rehearsals. Every movement become second nature and slowly but surely we transform from actors to the characters itself.

The tech process seem long but every second spent working was worth it when we know that the finish product will deliver a show that can sincerely move its audiences. The show is all about heart and we surely gave our all and I hope that our audience can appreciate that.

Hair opens this Sat at the Victoria Theatre in San Francisco. For more info, visit www.bamsf.org/hair and use code EB for 25% off ticket.

Crossfit: 2 Years Later
2 years ago I signed up for Crossfit fundamentals class at Crossfit Burlingame after seeing a local Amazon deal. Little did I know then how much this community would change my life.
09-Dec-13: First crossfit class. Everyone who wants to join crossfit has to go through an on-ramp or fundamentals class - where the instructors will teach you the basic movements and terms used in crossfit. I googled crossfit before coming to class and found numerous articles from how hard the workouts are to how it can cause injuries. It was rather intimidating so I set my goals and expectations to low.
I felt so sore the first few sessions but I never thought of quitting. I knew I had the engine (I played tennis almost every weekend) but my strength was severely lacking that I could barely even lift a 20kg bar on its own.
After two weeks of learning, I was evaluated by the coaches on the last day of fundamentals and was deemed good to join the regular crossfit classes.
I attended the classes and trusted the process. Slowly but surely I was improving. Each day I discovered new things and next thing you know I was hooked. I drank the coolaid and would talk nonstop about how much I loved crosssfit.
In the past two years my goals went from "finishing the program" to running a Spartan Race to being more proficient in Oly lifting. I went from a coach potato to now having 2 spartan trifectas, a GoRuck Tough badge, two 10Ks, and a Rookie Rumble competition under my belt.
But I never would've accomplished all of this or stayed with this if it weren't for the community. I truly owe it to James, Patrick, Drew, Rebecca and the rest of the CFBG family for changing my life for the better. I feel the love and support every time I step into the box and I do feel their genuine friendship even outside the gym.
I don't know what the future brings but I do know that I am here for the long haul. I have so many more goals to attain and two years down the road I am still learning & improving.
Next blog I'll try to post a more detailed version of my 2015 fitness adventures. For now, I'm off to the box for some barbell class!
Peace out - Jepoy

Paris Day 1
I arrived in Paris today after almost not making it to my original flight in SFO (I was the last one in before they closed the gates).
After getting my checked in luggage, I took the RER B train to Paris and was able to navigate with ease to my AirBnB host's apartment.
Bon (my friend from ADMU) picked me up from apartment and from there we went on a non-stop tour of the city.

Making of the Cabaret
Wassup peeps?! Jepoy here, having an insomnia episode - so what better to do with my time than write a blog entry.
So what to write about. Oh okay. Let me tell you about the upcoming cabaret/concert that will feature the boys of Glory Days.
We thought of this idea a while back during one rehearsal. We were like what can we do to promote the show - and out of nowhere we had this idea of performing a concert version of Glory Days in a bar. From a concert version we figured that it'd be better of as a cabaret - a sneak peak to the show instead of a doing the whole musical.
So off I go searching for a place and a concept for the cabaret. About a week ago I finally was able to secure a venue - at Martuni's Piano Bar in San Francisco. It's a famous lounge that has a dedicated room with an accompanist where people can bring their music and sing their hearts out. It's a perfect venue for us because not only do the patrons there love live music - they also appreciate the arts and support musical theater.
Now that the venue has been settled, the hard part is coming up with a concept for the show. I have always been a fan of this new generation musicals penned by young & upcoming composers. Heck, our musical Glory Days were written by twenty-something buddies Nick Blaemire and James Gardiner. So I thought, as a homage to Nick & James, we would do a cabaret that will showcase their works by young & upcoming composers like them!
Last friday, I gave the boys sheet music and MP3s of songs by some hot young composers like Pasek & Paul, Scott Alan, Kerrigan & Lowdermilk, Adam Gwon, etc. I asked them to learn it and told them we'll be performing it at the cabaret. I tried to match their personality and their voices to the song - and everything seemed to have jived well.
We have a little over a week til the cabaret. Mind you, it's not easy to learn new songs specially ones coming from not-so-famous composers, but I believe in the boys and I know they'll do an awesome job with their new songs.
So yeah. That's how this Glory Boyz Cabaret materialized. Our enthusiasm toward Glory Days led us to create this concert that not only showcase our talents but also feature wonderful songs by composers from our generation!
The boys have put so much time and dedication towards this project, so I hope you peeps can drop by and come see this special performance. For more info check out the facebook invite page.
Looking forward to seeing y'all there!
Peace out!
