When I say Barry is DC's Spiderman I'm never joking about it I am very firm in my belief that he's the closest character they have to a Peter Parker equivalent. An otherwise regular easily looked over person who got his powers via an accident and became a beloved neighbourhood hero who regularly interacts with his locals; is a scientific wise cracking genius who is not above killing somebody to protect his loved ones; has an a famous M/F romance that is always on and off; DC hates his happiness as much as Marvel hates Peter's so they're always finding ways to strip it away from them and he even had his own "danger sense" in the older canons [first shown in The Flash 1959 #124]
