Impermanent Mark
"Someone's fingerprint that, a thousand years ago, Killed darkness and killed death. I am also that fingerprint, marked on a stone."
- Flower in a Classic Whisper, Chon Pong-Gon

Julius, he is an excellent painter. His recent artworks are of stacked rocks and butterflies. He makes his own ink, his brushes are found branches. Then he writes and writes until words fill the canvas.
I love that he's a maker. I love his mind and his hands together. He tells me the correct color and then he makes his mark - makes everything out of nothing. I love the tattoo on his back that says "you are as impermanent as this".
When we first started, I thought that we can only be a temporary kind of love. I was young and active at church. There I was taught I can't love this man or any man at all. When we started again, I now believe that we can be another kind of love - the kind that makes a mark, the kind that creates everything out of nothing.
He has an intimate understanding of impermanence. And I love that I learned to embrace it as much as he does. We learned to dance with the poetry and riddle it brings. The stones we stack by the river may not last forever, but the importance is in the tower we created together.
I wrote this poem for his 25th birthday:

Jeremiah Tries
Tumblr media
I am not new to starting blogs. I am also not new to failing to maintain them. This is my third blog, the first was the usual 2013-2014 Tumblr filled with Christian quotes and Owl City reblogs. In my second blog, I took a bolder approach. I wanted it to be my online journal during the quarantine lockdown. Yet amidst the infrequent oversharing, I forgot about it.
Now here, another attempt. If there is one thing I am good at, it is at trying. Maybe that is the best trait of a believer, a natural at nothing. So hello, I am Jeremiah! I am trying my best in film photography, art, and poetry. I love to share my works and writings. If you wanna see my every attempt feel free to stick around! (This last paragraph I wrote for an older me, feel free not to read.) Dear Jeremiah, how is it in the future? You read it all and reached the beginning of this online journal. How many photos have you taken and how many poems have you written? Are you still a believer? Are you still trying? I hope you are doing well. I know of your quest for peace and in the least I want you to know that I am proud of you no matter what. Keep on trying, believing for me.
