go to jjeremysstash for the continuation of my beautiful mess sharing, as I'm making it my main blog (previously the original hrshl-soong-laforge that I'm moving away to a secondary blog) (yes it's a mess)
This year's 7th of May 2023 we use our own language again!
A few basic rules (this is very much copied from the original UYLD creators):
If your language is something other than English, on May 7th you can speak that language all day!
Speak whatever language feels good for you! Any and all!!
You’ll blog in your language all day: text posts, replies, tags (except triggers and organizational tags), the whole nine yards. Regardless of what language people choose to speak to you, you answer in your own.
Midnight to midnight according to your own time zone
English native speakers, if you wanna participate you can practice a second language you’re learning
The tag is gonna be #Speak Your Language Day or #spyld
Non-verbal, non-written languages (like ASl, dialects, otherwise non-written languages) are more than welcome!
Tag me in any and all non english posts! Or submit to your liking!

I don't remember if I said it here but I have no pinned so let's have one
I am moving to jjeremysstash, which is the main blog for all my secondary ones. There's still star trek stuff that I'm moving away to hrshl-soong-laforge (which was the previous url for the main blog)
so nothing more will be posted from this blog, please move to @jjeremysstash
Making a new post because my old one lost traction, hi, I’m Avery, I’m disabled and unemployed. I have chronic pain and I have no income. Please help me afford medication to manage my pain.
I don't know; I kind of think that our culture is based around systematic denial of human limitations. I mean, there's the eight-hour work day (which is about 4 hours longer than most people are consistently able to remain productive); buffing your qualifications on job applications (which everyone needs to do to some extent, because everyone else is doing it); the expectation of multitasking, even though it's not really possible; academics are running around with impostor syndrome, ultimately because there's only so many books that an individual is capable of reading, while a bunch of liars and grifters pretend that they're experts at *everything* and are held up as thought leaders. Billionaires are held up as if they're just incredibly hard workers, photoshopped movie stars held up as if they're just incredibly beautiful. We feel guilty for not being something that never has and can never exist.
they are similar but not identical to crepes. (a crepe is also a pancake. btw. i've had americans get annoyed when you point this out but a crepe is a type of pancake.)
scotch pancakes are more similar to american pancakes but in my experience are generally a teatime food rather than a breakfast food
welsh pancakes are also the chunky variety but i've never actually eaten them so idk how they compare
reblog not for a “bigger sample size” but because polls like this are a fun way to help people reinforce their own self-concept and passing it along so that other people can also have the opportunity to strengthen their sense of self by pressing a button is a cool and nice thing to do
Does that applies to cultures? Like when they say that aliens came and were seen as gods and they were like "oh adorable humans, we'll teach you our culture" and that explains why now humans from that area have this culture.
Why're ancient aliens racist?
It fundamentally posits that structures and mythologies built by non-white people were not actually built by them, but by aliens. It treats some of the most ingenious accomplishments of human cultures as impossible, as if the people who accomplished them were just idiot monkeys rolling around in the mud until the aliens came along to help.
