Younger demographics, especially 18–34-year-olds, show the highest adoption rates. The most trusted AI applications include itinerary suggestions, hotel recommendations, and price comparisons. At least one ski company thinks AI is good news for wintersports. “AI is changing the way we choose and book our holidays and driving more demand for previously niche activities. For example, while only around 8% of adults in the UK have been on a snow sports holiday, with a whopping 90% of 25–34-year-olds reportedly now wanting to go skiing. AI will create greater awareness of holiday choices and will provide the information needed to help plan and book,” Laura Hazell, Managing Director of leading French chalet holiday company Ski Beat commented. The YouGov survey found concerns remain around data privacy and accuracy, particularly among older age groups. “The majority of our ski chalet holidays are booked online, and we are increasingly using AI to help users find our site and help to make the right ski holiday choices. A large percentage of our guests have skied with us for many years, but this season we are seeing an increase in bookings from younger, and first-time skiers, which can only be good for the ski industry, as well as for the nation’s health,” Laura concluded. Filming took place over four days in December 2023, exploring the best of Verbier’s alpine charm.  Since it’s release the show has proved highly popular and currently has a very high 9.2 rating on IMDB. “Verbier was cold but the welcome and the food were warming. Such a fantastic experience to be chilly outside and be able to eat melted cheese and drink hot chocolate. Everything was so fresh and nourishing even the air felt good for you. I’ll never forget making croissants in Cabane Mont Fort and drinking champagne and eating fondue on top of the mountain,” Dominic Monaghan, whose long list of credits also include Flashforward and Charlie in hit TV show Lost commented. Highlights for the pair included a visit to the snow-covered peaks of Mont Fort at 3,330m, where the pair indulged in champagne fondue at the Igloo, Europe’s highest fondue restaurant. They also rolled up their sleeves to bake bread by the traditional method at the Four Banal in Volleges whilst becoming part of the Brotherhood of Bread with a time-honoured flour ceremony. A well needed break was taken to taste locally brewed beer at the artisan brewery Amicale des Brasseurs de Vollèges after sensational crêpes were flipped at Verbier Milk Bar. No visit to the Val de Bagnes region would be complete without cheese. Raclette AOP du Valais is a tradition and almost a religion in the area. They spent time with Marc Dubosson, where they crafted Bagnes cheese at Laterie de Verbier and met Roboclette, the first machine in the world capable of scraping melted cheese, part robot part raclette maestro. “What an incredible time we had in Verbier. We wanted this show to be a way to get to see a country and its people through food. Switzerland did not disappoint, such a beautiful country, amazing food and wonderful people. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality,” Billy Boyd commented. The pair also stayed overnight at Cabane Mont Fort, perched high above Verbier at 2,457 metres, with views that stretch across glaciers and jagged peaks. Verbier 4 Valleys is the largest ski area in Switzerland and Cabane Mont Fort is more than just an overnight mountain refuge, it’s a piece of Swiss alpine heritage and is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. They tried their hand at cooking Swiss Rosti and preparing croissants at 04.00, for the hungry skiers that would be stopping throughout the day. In a departure from the food theme, the pair also cosied up to skiers in gondolas and cable cars to reach the top of the mountain, climaxing with a snowball contest. The 50-minute episode is one of an eight-part series featuring destinations such as Costa Rica, Japan, Manchester, California, and Texas. The show has already aired on platforms including Flavour Network Canada, Now TV Hong Kong, and SBS Australia, and has premiered in the UK on Virgin UHD TV and on Amazon Prime in the UK and USA. Sunglasses topped the list of most commonly lost holiday items with 26% of people saying it had happened to them followed by cap/hat (25%), clothing (23%), jewellery (16%), hotel room key (15%), charger (15%), wallet/purse/money, headphones, camera (9%) and phone (5%) in that order. “We were especially surprised to see winter sports holidays (along with spa holidays) saw the highest number of losses,” said Andy Sturt, MD for VIP SKI. “It might be the goggles abandoned at lunch or gloves left in a cable car, but it seems that the more gear you have, the more there is to lose. In the meantime, perhaps keep earrings out of the pool.” Interestingly, only 3% of respondents said they had ever lost ski equipment itself which is a reassuring stat for anyone nervous about bringing their own skis on holiday. Younger travellers were far more prone to losses. Nearly two-thirds (63%) of those aged 18 to 24 had misplaced something, compared to just 42% of those aged 55 and over. If you do lose something crucial, like a passport, the advice is not to panic. Contacting the embassy can start the process of obtaining emergency travel documents. The duo spent 45 days crossing four countries, walking more than 800 miles, battling heat, fatigue, sore feet and the inevitable blisters, with the final stretch of their journey taking them through the French Alps to reach the finish line in Val Thorens. Matt and Reuben’s extraordinary journey was not only a test of physical and mental endurance but also an important fundraising campaign for two charities: Macmillan Cancer Support and Snow Camp, a charity that uses snow sports to support young people facing adversity. Over £9,000 has been raised with the donation page still open. “This walk was a way for us to challenge ourselves whilst helping others less fortunate,” said Matt Brinkley. “It’s been tough but knowing that we were supporting Macmillan and Snow Camp made every painful step worth it.” Starting their journey in early June from London, their route took them through the UK, France, Luxembourg and Switzerland, with their progress tracked in real-time via social media. “We wanted to create a challenge that would connect people across borders, not just through the walk itself but also through the causes we are supporting,” said Reuben Gray. “The response has been incredible, and we’re so grateful for everyone who donated and followed along.” In addition to supporting Macmillan Cancer Support and Snow Camp, the pair’s journey has helped promote a community-driven outdoor adventure sports app Matt and Reuben have developed – called King of the Hill – a platform that blends adventure planning, community, gamification and commerce. “We’re set to disrupt the adventure sports app market, changing the way that people connect with group adventure sports,” explains Matt Brinkley. “Utilising AI-powered trip planning, gamified GPS challenges and data-driven brand partnerships, we personalise and gamify to elevate the user experience.” The arrival in Val Thorens marks the end of an unforgettable adventure. Starting 19 December 2025 through 20 March 2026, the Travelski Night Express will run 14 return trips between Paris and Bourg-Saint-Maurice, with stops including Moutiers and Aime. Departing Paris on Friday evenings and arriving Saturday morning, the service allows skiers to maximise their time on the slopes. Travelski packages include train travel, transfers, accommodation, ski passes, and optional equipment hire. The work was carried out using environmentally friendly construction techniques developed by HYT, including low carbon compressed earth blocks.   For the Batwa, who have spent generations on the margins, often without access to clean drinking water or sanitation, the impact is profound. “We wanted our holidays to do more than deliver magical ski weeks,” said Andy Sturt, founder of VIP SKI. “This project shows how something joyful, time in the mountains, can help transform lives elsewhere.”  The Batwa, once forest-dwelling hunter-gatherers, were evicted from their land in the 1990s to make way for national parks. Many now live in makeshift shelters, lacking basic services. HYT works to improve lives in these communities by combining sustainable building with skills training and community engagement. The FIS had decided that the World Cup Final of that season would be a parallel slalom race, with the obvious intention of making the finale even more exciting. At that point, no one knew what they were about to witness in this unforgettable ski season. Heading into the final race in Ortisei, which was set to crown an already iconic season, three athletes were tied at the top of the overall World Cup standings: Gustav Thöni, the South Tyrolean superstar and leading figure of the best Italian ski team of all time. The legendary Valanga Azzurra, was chasing his fourth Big Crystal Globe. Ingemar Stenmark, the Swedish sensation, coached by local hero Hermann Nogler, was on the brink of making history by winning the overall World Cup at the age of 19. He would later go on to take the most world cup wins in history and hold that title until Mikaela Shiffrin finally overtook his 92 wind four decades later. Franz Klammer, the Austrian powerhouse and the most successful downhill skier of all time, who was not expected to have much of a chance on the challenging slalom course of the Ronc slope. Everything was set for an epic battle, and the outcome came down to a last-minute showdown: The two rivals and favourites for the overall World Cup title, Thöni and Stenmark, faced off in a dramatic last race, that would decide who would take home the prestigious Crystal Globe. A showdown for the ages unfolded on the legendary Ronc slope, with 40,000 passionate fans in Val Gardena and millions more watching on television, witnessing sports history. In the end, it was Gustav Thöni who triumphed over the young Swedish sensation, securing his fourth Big Crystal Globe. Now, 50 years later, the story comes full circle. On August 28, 2025, at 5:30 PM, Gustav Thöni and Ingemar Stenmark will reunite on stage at the “Luis Trenker” Cultural Center in Ortisei, Val Gardena — side by side — to look back on that unforgettable race – sharing memories, emotions and rare insights into one of the most historic moments in alpine skiing. Operated by Eurostar, the Inghams Ski packages, which sold out last year, will again serve the Val d’Isère, Tignes and Les Arcs ski areas, as well as six additional resorts for 2025/26: Courchevel, Méribel, Les Menuires, Val Thorens, La Plagne and La Rosière. The new options are part of a wider extension of all Inghams’ train routes to 25 resorts across four countries, making a total of 30% of Inghams’ global ski resorts reachable by train from the UK, an increase of 5% from last year.’ Open for bookings from today, 10th July 2025, the Eurostar Snow train will run for a month longer this coming season, from 20th December 2025 to 28th March 2026. Departing from London St. Pancras to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, with a train change at Lille, the train will stop at Chambery, Albertville, Moûtiers, Aime-La Plagne, and Landry enroute. Inghams Ski guests will then be transferred to their chosen resort. This year, the Eurostar Snow train will also return to its pre-Covid schedule, additionally operating from Saturday to Saturday, instead of just Saturday to Sunday. This change removes the need for Inghams Ski guests to overnight in Bourg-Saint-Maurice before their return journey.
