Work in progress continued.
Slide projector becomes an almost beautiful object... something to be looked at/seen.

Work in progress. Unresolved...
Slide projector, box, leads, torch, motor.
A slide projector illuminates its own remote control. A torch slowly circles a black box. Cords and leads enter and exit the box. Ominous. Heavy black box. Illuminated wall...
The machine is being revealed. You can see into it’s belly.
Is there sound?

Iteration 4: Processed.
Separating the spaces as a test for First Site Gallery proposal. Increase the exaggerated pile of chords. They will run from the box and into a wall. As opposed to connecting the video cameras to the box.
A dead end. Or seamlessly enter the wall through drilled holes. On to another space perhaps. Exaggerated obsloleteness. These leads are mainly from land line telephones and computers.

I’m beginning to explore/understand the idea of the uncanny gap. A space between things or spaces or objects that is left for the viewer to consider.
Tute with Katie. Talking about pushing the idea of an exaggerated obsoleteness with and iteration 4 of Processed. In reference to separating the two systems we talked about separating them but still being connected in some way. Not having the leads connecting them.

Daniel Von Sturmer...
An active landscape of visual events and experiments...
I like the way he plays with real space and recorded space and pictorial space.

Looking at Daniel Von Sturmer.
“Electric light (facts and figure)”
Lines of light, bodies of light in a space. Light as content. I like the simplicity and its stillness. Responding to space with light.

Taree McKenzie: “Live feed, George Paton Gallery” 2008
Mechanised props create an abstract video. A contrast exists with the complex system creating the minimal aesthetic on the video.
Machines, complexity, simplicity, movement, curiosity, wonderment.

“Black line formation”
Looking at Taree McKenzie. She uses low fi mechanised props. And uses objects and machines in unexpected ways. She reveals the process of the image making. It is playful and curious.

Mainly looking at the feedback from group tute about the two different languages in the work... video and light loop / cardboard box and leads loop
Structualist and symbolic. Machines versus everyday materials. Stability versus instibility.
Can they exist together? Do the two different systems have a relationship? Do I have to choose one?!!

Audio
Sound for iteration 3. Agitated, interupted, protruding, machine.
Sound is coming out of cardboard box. It’s source is hidden.
