One of Petra's most famous character traits is, ironically, one point of her character development that I feel is super under-appreciated: her hot-headedness.

In Episode 1, Petra showed little emotion - she got angry once or twice, but stayed pretty chill and level-headed. But at the start of Episode 7, she's lashing out at Jesse for his (I use red suspenders Jesse) leadership style. It's clear that she's progressively gotten more hot-headed over the course of Season 1 - which actually perfectly lines up with her character arc.

In S1, she started as a lone wolf, but progressively warmed up to the rest of the team, eventually becoming Jesse's closest friend. The more she opened up to her friends, the more she felt comfortable speaking her mind and showing her flaws.

I can't speak for everyone, but with my experience, this is a very accurate depiction of friendship. When I'm around someone I'm not very close to, I'm extremely reluctant to let loose or show too much emotion around them. But when I'm around my closest friends, that's when I feel comfortable showing my messy, unfiltered, REAL side.

That's good character writing right there.
