Rescued a young hedgehog yesterday,

Keep an eye out for youngsters as it’s the time or year where they’re left to fend for themselves and may struggle to find water and food - especially during hot weather (they can get extremely dehydrated) and die from it. You can search online to see if there’s a hedgehog hospital locally who will take them in!

Also a red flag if one is out in daylight as they’re nocturnal. This little guy was curled up on his side just by a busy pathway, and eventually managed to stand up clumsily- kept walking in little circles and not moving into a sheltered place and was sort of coughing?

You can pick them up carefully with gloves and a blanket or tea towel and place them in a cardboard box (with holes) or a pet carrier to transport safely…
