THE PEACE WITHIN

Have you ever experienced a time in your life wherein you are at the seaside on you just want to go with the flow of the water waves? You just accept and enjoy the reality that life has brought you.

I AM NOT EXCUSED.

For the past few months, I've been really struggling. And when I say I am struggling, it means I dealt with a certain pain, I also hated myself and doubt if I can do anything properly, I resented other people and blame them for this suffering that I am going through, I always ask God "why do I have to experience these things?". I know this is not a unique situation, since most of us experience the same thing but having the strength and the courage to overcome all of these has not been a very easy thing to do for me. There are times that I just tend to isolate myself and be away from anything that triggers my emotions. I also thought of going back to my old self. If you do not know me before, I am the type of person that is not open with other people. It's either you'll talk to me first or I won't talk to you. (Praise God because as I spend my life in serving Him, I know I have been transformed from glory to glory.) Now going back to what I am talking about, I thought of returning to my old self and not interact with other people. One night, while I was scrolling in my threads feed, I have read a certain passage in which it says that "why should you go back to what God has transformed you from in order to just soothe yourself? Don't you trust Him, that He transformed you so that He may use you mightily and effectively?" It was a shot right through my heart. It really makes sense! God transformed me into a better and brighter person, so why would I bother going back to my old, dark and gloomy self?

IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL

While I was having my devotion, a lyrics from a certain song came up in my mind and it says "It is well within my soul". So I immediately searched for it and its lyrics, what strike me the most is that when the singer said "Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come Let this blast assurance control That Christ has regarded my helpless estate". I've been reminded that yes, even though I am in this state, I know God is still with me and stays with me. For a couple of weeks, that song stayed in my mind, and I always say "everything is well within my soul" and I just found myself being happy and confident in myself.

THE PEACE WITHIN

One time, when I was talking to my co-sister in Christ, in which she has been my human diary recently. I just suddenly felt the peace in my heart. How do I know that it is peace? At this point in my life, I am not expecting anything anymore. I'll just accept what God has brought me in. If He chose to bring me again in that place, well I guess it Has been always His will. And I know that whatever I surrendered to God will be back to me if it is aligned within His will and if not I know God has prepared something better for me. With that in mind, I chose to think the happy side of life. I try to reach out to others and enjoy their company. I also become more confident of myself. In the past, I am not really pleased in myself whenever I try to look in the mirror, but now, I can smile and feel good about myself! I am now able to say to myself "You're so pretty today!" while looking at the mirror. I've been also giving my best shot to serve God in the ministry that He has entrusted to me.

Though I know there'll still be times when I will feel discouraged and down, as long as I know that God is there and is with me in every season of my life I'll still have THE PEACE WITHIN ME.

I just can’t contain the words in my mind so i decided to put it in actual words. These are some of my realizations during my quiet times with the Lord.

First of all, to God be the glory for all the things that he has done and what he is about to do. In all of the seasons of our life, God is there, guiding us in every way.

When God wants you to do something but you are so uncertain about it, what will you do? Will you obey God?

I myself experienced this situation, this past few days, God wants me to do something that I can’t even understand why He wants me to do it. It’s hard to obey not knowing what will be the outcome in the end. I’ve been crying and asking Him “Why is this happening to me?”, “Why do I have to be in this situation?” and then suddenly God reminded me of Proverbs 3:5-6. As a person who grew up in church, I already knew Proverbs 3:5-6, however, I just realized recently that it’s very hard to do this especially if you are facing the unknown or the uncertainty of the future.

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:5‭-‬6‬ ‭AMP‬‬ [5] Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart And do not rely on your own insight or understanding. [6] In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way].

It says here in Proverbs 3:5 we need to “Trust and rely confidently on the Lord” even in the midst of the situations that we can’t control. I’ve been commanded by God to let go of certain things which is very hard for me to do. This is where proverbs 3:5a will be applied. Amidst of this situation in which we actually don’t know, if God told us to let go of something and just put our complete trust in Him while obeying His commands, we should bravely and confidently do it. And surely, if we do so, even if it means to sacrifice or surrender something, He will surely bless our hearts. (Deutoronomy 28: 1-2).

Now why is this happening? Why do we need to obey with sacrifice? Why do we need to suffer? In the recent happenings in my life, I realized that sufferings are one of the great ways in order for God to teach us something. This molds us to be a better version of ourselves and eventually be used for God’s greater glory.

‭‭James‬ ‭1:2‭-‬4‬ ‭AMP‬‬ [2] Consider it nothing but joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you fall into various trials. [3] Be assured that the testing of your faith [through experience] produces endurance [leading to spiritual maturity, and inner peace]. [4] And let endurance have its perfect result and do a thorough work, so that you may be perfect and completely developed [in your faith], lacking in nothing.

We suffer because it does a thorough work in molding us for us to be what God wants us to be. Kaya okay lang na umiyak, okay lang ma-down at madiscourage. In those times, that we experience pain or suffering, the presence of God is also there emphatizing with us and teaching us what we need to learn, sometimes the presence of the Lord is more than enough. Mare-realize at mare-realize mo yun along the way, and truly ma-aamaze ka na lang kasi bigla bigla na lang na nangungusap sa’yo si Lord.

Yes, we experience pain and sufferings but the important thing is that we don’t dwell on it forever. Because of what God asked me to do, I was really anxious and discouraged. I was not able to do my daily routines and work, I cannot sleep, I cannot eat properly, and sometimes I question God why is this happening to me and why do I have to obey it. I asked my friends and leaders about my situation, and one thing I got from all of their advices is that I NEED TO OBEY GOD and SURRENDER everything to Him.

The beauty of surrendering to God Have you experienced those times, wherein you don’t have anything and you do not know what to do anymore, except to cling onto Him and trust His plans? In those moments, you feel so lost and not confident of the future, you just cry out to God about your situation. But, even though we experience such situations, we are very fortunate that we encounter those, because of it, we learned how to fully come onto Him, with nothing left on us, we learned how to fully depend on Him when you don’t have anything to hold on to and surely, God is faithful, He will let you experience that even though you don’t have anything, as long as you have His presence, everything will be alright. visit my wordpress acount: https://jenricohermoso.wordpress.com/2023/11/15/the-beauty-of-surrendering/

Review on BTOB’s Special Album: Outsider

Hey everyone! It’s the 30th of August and you know what? Vocal Kings, BTOB dropped another set of masterpiece entitled “4U : Outside”! Have you listened to the full album already? Me? Yeah of course, this is one of my most awaited comeback after Kingdom. Let’s have some few commentaries and review in each song in the album!

1. Dreamer –

Howkayy, so BTOB started the album with Dreamer and yeah, this song is such a bop! It’s a perfect song to listen whenever you are losing your hope or confidence or if you are asking yourself if you should continue pursuing your dream amidst the situations going around you. A line in the song says that “Even when you can’t see (what’s in front of you) and the world is staggering…. even if it doesn’t go the way you want to, even if it keeps going wrong… Do what you wanna do, It’s all up to you.” I love these lines in the song, because it makes me feel so motivated, that I should continue whatever I enjoy doing because after all this is my life and no one should control it aside from me.

2. OUTSIDER [Title Track]

If you are a melody for a long time already, I bet this kind of song is new to you. Coz that’s what I am feeling! I’ve been a BTOB fan for almost 5 years and I’ve seen the dance, ballad, jazz, pop tracks of btob but this is my first time listening to a jazzy-rock-pop track with some touch of saxophone sound. It is so refreshing to hear! The message of the song was good to, it seems like the main character in the song was feeling so tired of his daily routine which made him think that he’s not a human anymore rather a robot. The character here want’s to be an outsider and he doesn’t want to be like anyone else, he wanted to be free and basically just like what’s the message of the first song to do what he wants to do.

3. Can’t Breathe

Basically this song is an after break up song, where the other party is missing his/her former partner. Unlike the first two songs, if you will search for the lyrics of this, it might be sad of course but if you will listen to it, it still feels refreshing, and that’s one of the things I like in BTOB the most, the way they create songs in which you will truly enjoy but you’ll be surprised if you try to search for the lyrics because the message is kinda saddening. But nevertheless, this is also a masterpiece!

4. Traveler

Yes! Its another motivational song from our boys! Traveler is really good to listen whenever you feel lost or you feel so exhausted in life, (for me) One of the lines in the song that I really liked is “Throw away all the negative thoughts (go away) have a positive mindset (make it a habit) one step at a time” and this one also “This is not the end of the dream, Yes we are travelers, anywhere, anytime, go until the end, keep only good memories” Its these lines that makes me feel motivated to continue my dream or my goal, and it is okay if I failed because I can go one step at a time.. slowly but surely. Our life was being compared to a traveler, we may go anywhere, anytime, we might get lost but remember its not the end of the trip!

5. Waiting 4U

Another sad and a song about waiting coming from our vocal kings. Yes Waiting 4U is all about waiting for that ex-lover to come back again. I specially love this song because Hyunsik wrote this before enlisting in the military, so it can be a song for melodies that are waiting for BTOB to comeback completely. It also has a catchy melody that after your first listen you’ll be singing it for the rest of your life (LOL) vocals of the members where pretty much highlighted in this song too!

6. Finale: Show and Prove

If you watched Kingdom probably your heard this song already, because its Btob’s final song in the final round of the said competition. Basically, it is rock-ballad genre which really suits Chang sub’s voice. The song is all about BTOB’s journey from the start up to the present, not just their journey in Kingdom but their journey as a group. A line in the song says that “10 years and still going strong… if you miss out you’ll regret it… This is for the haters, get lost I’ll see you later” It says that they’ve been through a lot and you should pay attention to it, because they will continue to show and prove it to all even to all the haters. I love this song so much especially when I first listened to it because it gives me “the greatest showman” vibes and I like that show so much!

I don’t know but one thing for sure, why I like BTOB so much, it is not because of their looks, if its for the looks there are many boy groups out there that has so much visuals compared to this group, it is not also because of their performance or dance because yeah, they debuted as a dance group but didn’t continue it actually, I really love them because of the songs they are creating and its message too. I feel like most of their songs are talking to me and saying that “hey everything’s gonna be okay!” One proof of that is this album, because most of the songs in this album motivates me to go forward and chase my dreams. If you are new to this group, try to listen to this new album and I’m sure you will not regret it. STAN TALENT. STAN HEALING-DOLS. STAN BTOB

Dealing with an office crush

Do you ever had an admiration or crush with your co-worker? Do you have this feeling that you feel so excited whenever you go to work because you know you'll be able to interact with him/her? Of course we miss this things, especially today that most of us works from home. I've got this feeling too, when me and the person i admire got to work together for a program. At first, I don't know if I'll be able to work well and efficiently because office crushes can negatively influence the quality of your work as well as your reputation, if you don’t cope with it in the right way. But here are some tips that I realize i need to have to still work professionally and efficiently. But before we go through it, i just want to let you know that having a crush on someone is never wrong and you just need to enjoy the fun you'll get in that phase. 1. Stay Professional.

Remember you're still in your workplace and it may affect your reputation in the office if you act in an unprofessional way. Behave properly and focus on your tasks first.

2. Do not be obvious.

Be cautious of your actions. Your actions can convey your feelings and can be noticed by the guy/girl or others at work.

3. Stay Calm.

Again just like in #1 you're still in the workplace. So stay calm, cool and professional. If you cant do it at all, try to imagine your crush is not there so that you can still work efficiently. 4. Obey your company policy.

Review the rules being implemented on your workplace specifically office romance, if it prohibits this kind of setting just obey so that you can still have your work, if it does not prohibit then it doesn't mean that you can act lovey-dovey to your crush, remember to be professional as always. 5. Respect him/her as your colleague.

You are working in the same place so mind your respect to whoever it is. As much as possible, try to establish boundaries at work to avoid unnecessary gossips and you can still work professionally.

6. Increase your non-work friends interaction.

When not working, try to be with your other friends aside your friends from work so that you may set aside the thinking about your office crush. Hang out with your other friends and do activities that you enjoy together, its a free country after all.

7. Enjoy that phase.

While it may affect negatively on others, but somehow it can affect positively on other people as well. Having a crush on work may increase their productivity and be more responsible in your tasks. But again it depends on the person who experiences this. We all know, that it might not be easy and again having crush to someone at your work isn't wrong you just have to act professionally and responsibly.

How was the Korean World introduced to you?

Is it through KPOP and then you entered the KDRAMA world or the other way around? You got into KDRAMA and then KPOP after? For me it was the latter. I watch KDRAMAS since i was a kid i guess? and many years have passed before i got interested in KPOP. And yeah for this blog, i entitled this as my BTOB journey. Not that they are the first KPOP group that i became interested to. Because the first KPOP group that i love is INFINITE! Yes! I am an INSPIRIT!! But because of School 2015: Who are you, a highschool themed kdrama which was released in 2015, i was able to know BTOB's Yook Sungjae, and this adorable guy introduced me to BTOB which is now my main group!

It was in the year 2017, that i officially became a melody (BTOB's fandom name) at that time i was given an opportunity to attend to this concert in which BTOB will be performing, btw, my admission to this concert was free! Thanks to my college classmates! So as a baby melody i am so happy that time because i will be able to witness them live and for free!! After that i became so curious about them, you know the typical how-did-you-become-a-kpop-fan routine? Watching their MV's, variety shows and other stuffs. So yeah, my main bias is of course Yook Sungjae and my bias wrecker is Lee Changsub! Afterwards i was able to attend Yook Sungjae's fanmeeting in Manila (#ParadiseManilewithYookSungJae) and i guess this was memorable also to me because, just imagine you are meeting your bias face-to-face and high five with him? What will you feel? Excitement? Nervousness? That time i didn't wash my right hand for three days? I think. LOL. Afterwards, in 2019, i was able to attend Im Hyunsik's fanmeeting (#DearLoveinManila) which is also memorable, although i was not able to greet him face-to-face and high-fived with him but during the fanmeeting, he roamed around the studio audience, and i was able to see him closely!!! Which is until now, i'm still mesmerized. One thing that i cant forget in this fanmeeting was that i was able to join the fanchant of Missing You along with other melodies which is very amazing and heart-warming..

After that 2020-2021, i am still a melody supporting their units and also supporting them in a competition called KINGDOM and also watching their virtual concerts. Here i am looking forward to the day that i'll be able to attend their ot7 concert in the near future. I loved them not just because of who they are but because of the songs they have that served as a healing song for me. Their songs such as "Its Okay" "Way back home" were some of the songs that comforted me when i was discouraged and sad.

So all i can say is their songs are precious, the boys are precious and BTOB is precious to me.

I AM NOT ENOUGH

I am not enough.

I should have a fairer skin.

I should be famous like him/her.

I am just a substitute.

I am not a priority.

These are some of the thoughts that we usually have about ourselves, we always tell ourselves that we are not enough or we are not important. We feel like that in our studies, we feel like we are never good enough, we can never be an achiever in the class or get high scores in the exams. In work, we feel the same, we feel like we are just a substitute, if the main person is not available to perform his/her task, they pass it onto you, you're always a second-choice. But you know what sucks? In the end, after we do the things they asked us to do, we feel like we did not do well.

What do God says about this things?

Isaiah 43: 4 says "Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give people in exchange for you, nations in exchange for your life." You are precious in God's sight, you are valuable! And he is ready to sacrifice what He has in order to save you. He appreciates all of your efforts, even if men doesn't see it or appreciate it. Always remember that God is always watching you, he's happy whenever we do our best even in the simplest task that we have.

Zephaniah 3:17 "The LORD your God wins victory after victory and is always with you. He celebrates and sings because of you, and he will refresh your life with his love.". No matter how others treat us and making us feel, like we are not enough, always remember that we are valuable in God and he appreciates all of your efforts in order to glorify Him.

Yes you are not enough, but because of God you became more than enough. You are precious. You are appreciated. You are loved.

The events that unfolded over the past 24 hours in Atlanta were not isolated incidents. Hate crimes against Asian Americans have increased nearly 150% in the US in the last year. 

Last June, in the wake up of yet another uprising in hate crimes committed by white supremacists, we released the following statement:

White supremacists, Nazis, and other purveyors of hate can fully fuck off. They are not welcome here.

These words are as true today as they were then. We stand with the Asian American community. If you see hate speech on Tumblr, please report it. That shit is not tolerated here.

Responding positively in the midst of Crisis

Responding positively in the times of crisis

We can notice as we run through the book of Psalms it is full of crying out to the Lord for saving someone's life or thanking God for sparing his/her life in the hands of the enemy. The book of psalms technically teaches us to turn to God in the times of troubles. Here are some things that this book suggests to do in the midst of crisis.

1. Call out to God "Hear my cry, O God; listen to my prayer" (Psalm 61:1) Make sure that if we are facing trials we'll first call upon the name of the Lord. Ask for God's help first before calling out to others. Sometimes we continue to dwell with the suffering because we forgot to ask for God's help

2. Tell God about your troubles, and admit that you feel abandoned or forsaken. "How long, O LORD? Will you hide yourself forever? How long will your wrath burn like fire? Remember how fleeting is my life. For what futility you have created all men!" (Psalm 89:46-47) Doctors and nurses always tell their suspected COVID-19 patients to be honest with their condition so they can be able to treat them easily. Same with us and God, we need to be honest with God about how we feel, that we are having a hard time. Honesty to God means that we are surrendering our lives fully to Him.

3. Ask God to put the enemy in his place "Appoint an evil man to oppose him; let an accuser stand at his right hand. When he is tried, let him be found guilty, and may his prayers condemn him" (Psalm 109:6-7) Let God do his part. Most of us, when in the midst of trying situations relies on our own strength and ability, forgetting that we should rely on God.

4. Praise God for his deliverance! "Praise be to the LORD, who has not let us be torn by their teeth. We have escaped like a bird out of the fowler's snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped. Our help is in the name of the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth" (Psalm 124:6-8) At the end, claim for God's victory! thank him for working and making a way out of the crisis that you are in...
