I have quite quiet about this and slowly following the news since last week but it has reach a tipping point for me personally so here I go…. @djokernole is just showing what a role model shouldn’t be showing. He is no different from the other “entitled” youth of the athletic world with 1 major difference, he isn’t a youth anymore but simply a spoilt brat! So the deterrence isn’t working so up the penalty? If you are caught drinking and driving, your car will be confiscated and auction off. The money from the auction is your fine. Just like handphone usage when driving, the handphone is confiscated (returned later) so this will scare the owner of the car, the family of the irresponsible asshole and any friends lending the car to that irresponsible asshole. Even if the family has another driver that can continue the use of the car, take away the “weapon” that that drunk driver chose to use for the “possible assault”. For my foreign friends or any foreigners who think that Singapore have no freedom of speech, let me once again define the perimeter of “Freedom of Speech”. Freedom of speech isn’t the license to be stupid, spread lies and/or instigate violence with no repercussion. Freedom of Speech means you can criticise your member of parliament or government officials and even the country as long as they are no lies. You can’t go around calling someone a thief, you can’t go around saying a certain religion is all about mass killing cause those just aren’t the truth. You can openly call out government official for the nonsense that they do and the unwillingness to admit it if it’s true cause I have done it before and I have yet to receive a legal letter for an apology. Freedom of speech is Alive and well in Singapore but do not make take Freedom of speech for granted and sprout lies and untrue or/and incite violence and/or break the law. Call your MP out on their bullshit, point out the stupid and negative things they implement in your estate, criticise them for their behaviour and action.
