recontextualization proposal
i would like to dissect actual fast food and create abstract sculptures out of it. the art is not the food or even the sculpture itself but instead the form and the shadows of the objects captured by photograph. the food in advertising is made to be idealized to the point they often dont even use real ingredients but rather prop ingredients that will better hold their shape and wont spoil. i want to instead capture the whole, edible, and possibly ugly truth that in my opinion is just as absurd as the advertisements but in the opposite end of the spectrum. this comes with inspiration from the double mona lisa by vik muniz, the sculptures of claes oldenburg, and the light art created by lászló moholy-nagy,

art today
Art today is nothing and everything. Everyone is an artist because art is just a means through which to express oneself which is a desire we all have. It ranges from anything whether its cooking, singing or drawing etc. If someone is expressing themselves and considers it art, then it is art. Yet art is also a pretentious world through which the elite can launder money in plain sight. Throughout history those with art were those with wealth and power and although it is more accessible today, in the eyes of history nothing much has changed. Being an artist and calling your expressions art is not enough to secure a place in history. You need the approval of the elite. That approval doesn't mean you're the best of the best or that they appreciate it or that they understand it. Their stamp of approval is meaningless. the only reason to make art is for yourself and its only value is that which is has to you. Money and financial value are just constructs of greed. The truth is that if a print being sold on the side of the street resonates with you, it is worth more than any painting or sculpture in a museum or gallery that does not resonate. Yet history will never know. The only one who knows is you. That’s fine though. We are all just specks in time and space either way so what’s even the difference?
