Bittersweet Goodbye

Hi, friends! It’s me again Jen and welcome to my new blog!

Airport was so busy these last two shifts!!! But don’t get me wrong…. I am happy! I like it!!! Oh no!! I love it!!!! 🥰🥰🥰

I met a new staff of WestJet and you know what?! They’re from Seneca too! Wow! And also, found out that the Managers were graduates from Seneca! Well, WestJet is an extension of Seneca College! 🤪🤪🤪 cool! 😎😎😎

Oh, look! My cute WestJetter! 😎 he was so behaved waiting for the owner to finish all the papers for him. Good boy!

It has been more than 2 months since I started as a WestJet Customer Service Ambassador, how time flies…. And now I’m done with my coop…. Thank you, WestJet for all the wonderful fun learning experiences. Hopefully to be part of your growing family someday.

Hmmm… what should I say??? Met a new friend today. Had time to chitchat with him because it wasn’t that busy.

yFor this week I had Friday and Saturday 2 more shifts and I’m done… having mixed emotions tho…. Gonna miss the airport but looking forward to finish my shift to be more focused on my due dates. It’s a lllloooottt!!!!! 🤣🤣🤣

Nothing much happened this week…. The airport was pretty quiet… just staring at Wendy's and makes me sooooo hungry!!! 😢🤪

Oh by the way… make sure to have your proof of vaccine when traveling… if you don’t have it yet try scanning this barcode! 🥰😉

It will be my last 2 days at WestJet… 😭😭😭

Hi, friends! It’s me again Jen and welcome to my new blog!

For this week I only had Friday and it was a short shift. It was just a 6 hours shift. A few more hours to complete and I’m done… 😭😭😭 Gonna miss the airport… the guests and their stories…

Oh, look what I see on my way to the arrival area!!! WestJet Disney World Aircraft! Cool! 😎 my daughter got excited when I showed her the picture. Soon baby! Soon! 🥰

I went for my shift earlier than scheduled to experience the businesses at the airport and I loved it! You won't notice that it’s almost time!

Anyways, I have this passenger that has a tracheostomy and I felt bad because I got scared, I am so sorry… I wasn't expecting that…. I felt bad…. But I assist him throughout… and he was thankful. ☺️☺️☺️

Remember when I said I wanna try the T-Link from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3? Well…. I dis tried it! Got nervous ‘coz I thought I'm not gonna make it on time but yey!! Did it! 😎😉

So, this week we had our progress report… nervous 😬 but hey! It turned out well! 🥰 met Professor Grace and Professor Jennifer with Ms. Donna. 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

I am happy to see that everything is gradually returning to normal airport is getting busier . They also put up a poster for passengers regarding the allowed containers for carry-on. Passengers are often confused. 😬🤪

So how’s your week??? Mine was a busy one! 😒 but that's okay… I feel like I was so productive! 😎😉

Another weekend at the airport! Yay! Hmmm… learned a lot today…. Thank you Ms. Angela for the time to teach us during our downtime. 🥰 Had a very interesting lesson about the system…the WIN… the benefits… and a lot more!!! 😉😉😉

Also, came across a man who is letting out his opinion and wanting to be heard about the flag of LGBTQ painted on the wall in the airport. Well, that was his opinion I have nothing against it… I completely respect that. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎

Oh hey! They put up the Christmas Tree 🎄 today! Yay! The holiday is fast approaching!

Hi, there friends! It’s me again Jen and welcome to my new blog!

Came in very early today. Well here goes the saying “Early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable” had time to roam around the airport! 🥰😜 wondering when will I fly again? 🙁 hmmm…. 🤔🤔🤔

Okay…. Enough for wondering!!! 😜 I met someone today, alumni from Seneca and now a westjetter. 🥰

That's Romisco he has a lot of inspiring stories for us. He was also an international student like me and he made it this far! I am inspired by his stories. Hope I could share the same stories someday… 🙏🙏🙏

This is a turn schedule report… every duty after logging in I always take a copy of this schedule to guide me in locating our guests' flight numbers, and the cut-off time and whether it’s a domestic or international flight.

I only have 1-day duty for this week so nothing much happened. This is what I do when it's not busy…. organizing the drawers! 🤪 looking forward to next week!

Hi, friends! It’s me again Jen and welcome to my new blog!

To the airport! 🤪 ✈️The most awaited day of the week! 🥰 I get to see new people, talk, assist and see different personalities.

So! How was your Halloweens? WestJet Staff Lounge has Halloween decorations too! Cool right?! Too bad it’s not allowed to have costumes but that’s okay. 🥰

Anyway, I met a friend today. ☺️ Her name is Roxy (if I could remember that right 🤪) She’s a service dog from one of our passengers. Cute right?! She behaved so well! I feel amazed whenever I see dog’s understands instructions from their owner. Well I know they were trained but still amazing right?! 🥰

Oh wow! A couple passenger gave me a bottle of wine! ☺️ (I’m not aure are we allowed to accept something from a passenger?) oh well, thank you to the couple! ☺️ I have something to drink on my birthday! 🤪😜

So! Moving on… I’ve learned something today, I have been noticing that we have a lot of passengers having fire arms with them and it’s hunting season! Sorry, but everything was new to me. 🥰 I was from Riyadh and was never exposed to this things. (Innocent 🤪🤦‍♀️I know! 😜) Anyway, if a passenger is carrying firearms with them it will be on the oversized baggage and they have to fill out a declaration form even if they had done it in their first flight. The Captain should know that there’s a firearms being carried in his aircraft. Then the below tags should be attached to the firearms.

And lastly for my blog today…. I got my ID! Yay! Waiting for the scarf but thank you to our Manager for providing. 😍

Oh, how time flies, it’s been a month already since I started and I’m sure gonna miss this place soon. Staffs are so accommodating, their family!

Alrighty! Time to go! Another week have passed, another experience was gained. ☺️

Aviation Back in Business

Hi, there friends! It’s me again Jen and welcome to my new blog! Another week have passed, another experience was gained. ☺️

I am having anxiety every time I see this sign before my duty. It’s been a while since I last travelled. This pandemic has caused a lot of ups and downs but hey! the airline industry is slowly going back into business!!!

Alrighty! I was walking around the airport and saw this purple sign. I always encounter passengers asking me the way to terminal 1 and I would always direct them to the purple sign. Well, this purple sign is the way to Terminal 1 where Air Canada is. Hmmm… I would like to try the t-link someday for an experience. ☺️

Moving on, I was always curious why there were not many passengers going to the US. Oh well, everything was clear now. US travels are only in the morning till afternoon. Well, that makes sense why I don’t see many passengers because my shift starts at 1500H. 🤣

Meet my satisfied passenger! It was her first time to travel going to Vancouver (if I could remember her flight right 🤪) I assisted her by printing her boarding pass, paying for her luggage, printing her tags and dropping it off. One happy grandma here excited to see her grandchildren! 😉 Enjoy your trip, Grandma! Thank you for flying with WestJet! (Oh, by the way, I asked her permission for the photo 😉)

There are times that we are not that busy especially when it’s almost the end of our shift. So what I do is to organize the drawer at the counter and to review and let myself be familiar with the different label tags. That door delivery tag there is being used for strollers, car seats and many more… that heavy tag is for the luggage that had exceeded their limits and paid for their excess kilo and to let the people at the cargo (the person going to load the luggage to the aircraft) how heavy it was. WestJet standby is for the WestJettter’s family or friend that will be flying in a standby flight and the other two are for priority passengers and fragile items. Fragile items should be dropped off at the oversized luggage drop-off area. 😉

Hi there! It’s me again Jen and welcome to my new blog! This is my 2nd week of training! Yay! I managed! 🤣 

This is me waiting for my passengers. 😉 Got a compliment that day, a passenger told me “I can see your warm smile thru your eyes”. Too bad mask on 😷 but hey don’t get me wrong! I’m okay with that, just too bad passengers don’t see my welcoming smile. ☺️

So these are the drop-off baggage counter. I do help passengers to put their check-in luggage in the drop-off especially the señors. I feel sorry for them and I can't help myself not to help them with their luggage. 

People tend to be confused when they don’t see any gates in their boarding passes. So, what I do is point out the big screen and tell them to always check the big screen for updates. Tip: if you don’t see your gate number in your boarding pass always check the big screen 😉 You might have checked in early that’s why it was not in your boarding pass or sometimes it changes so always check the big screen for you not to miss your flight! ☺️😉

These are kiosks, this is where all the action begins! 🤪🤪🤪 some passengers are techy but most still doesn’t know how to use this especially our señors. 😉 They need some extra hand in printing their boarding pass and luggage tags.

Oh, another thing! Passengers travelling internationally should go to the check-in assistance because they will need to provide their travel documents. 😉

Day 1 : The Training

Hi There! It’s me Jen and welcome to my 1st blog!

Ok, how do we start this? When I first enrolled at Flight Services I have dreamed of doing my Career Placement at Pearson International Airport. Why? First of all, I live 9 minutes away from Pearson Airport! 😜 but seriously it’s because I wanted to experience customer service, but because of the pandemic, I thought that dream won't happen.

Last September 21, 2021, I received an email from my Program Coordinator announcing that WestJet is open for a coop Guest Service Ambassador!! Yay! 🙀

I submitted my resume got interviewed and yay! 

Thank you, Lord! 🙏

I got accepted! 👏

October 7, 2021 (Thursday) is my first day!!! 🙌🙌🙌

Training! 

This is it!!! 💪

Excited + Nervous = Anxiety 🤣🤣🤣 

I along with other intern students met the WestJet Coordinator- Airport Learning at Starbucks Terminal 3 at 1300H. We first went to the staff lounge introduced us to some of the westjetters (that's what they call their staff 😉) Had a meeting at her office. Explained to us what to expect. Then she toured us at the airport.

 Meet my co-interns! 😉 😉 😉

This area is at the arrival of Terminal 3, it has a Pet Relief area for passengers bringing their pets with them. Cool! 😎 

Then she showed us the quiet zone. It is where people can pray 🙏 it is located at the arrival area near the exit. 

Then off to the luggage claim… it looks empty but there are passengers 😜 (didn’t take a picture with the busy conveyor) 

Lastly before going back…

We passed by to this station located also at the arrivals area where you can buy your presto cards! Or rent some taxis (just in case no one picks you up) 😜

The airport seems empty right? But hey, I spoke too soon! 🤣 we got busy before our shift ends. 

Alrighty! That’s it for my 1st day! I only had 4 hours today. 🥰
