If a babyās born at 1:59 a.m. and then itās twin is born two minutes later but the clocks went back to 1:01 a.m. the birth certificate will show the second twin as older.
*sticks leg up in air* the rise in popularity of podcasts and vines and other such forms of audio storytelling is a cool art form
*backflips* but every new art form leaves disabled people scrambling for ways to access the stories because abled folks forget that not everyone can hear and not everyone can understand audio-based arts
*does the splits* so please fuckign caption your vines and subtitle your videos and provide transcripts of your podcasts
Well, weāve done it. Weāve recorded the series finale of the The Bright Sessions, which will be released on June 13th.Ā
I canāt express how much gratitude I have for @laurenshippen and this crazy little journey she brought me on. I can still remember the first time she reached out to me - on Facebook, none the less - asking me if I might be willing to be involved in this tiny little idea she had and in that same message, saying something along the lines ofĀ āI totally understand if you donāt want to.ā And she told me it was a podcast or an audio drama, and I had no idea what that meant, but I knew that I liked Lauren and I liked being asked to do things and yes, of course, Iām always happy to collaborate with my friends.
And here we are, three years later, and The Bright Sessions has become a phenomenon I never could have imagined.Ā
I have never in my life had the opportunity to be a part of a world so meaningful and impacting. Iāve never had the opportunity to play a role so complex and multi-dimensional and heavy and challenging and fulfilling as Dr. Joan Bright. I have never been blessed to get to perform such solid, beautiful writing with such a talented and loving cast. And I have never been so lucky to be involved in a project that has received this amount of support and love from such a unique and amazing group of fans.Ā
But, alas, all good things must come to an endā¦ eventually.Ā
I did cry a bit when we recorded the series finale on Wednesday. But Iām not that much of a wreck yet. Why? Because the series finale is truly just the ending of one chapter and the beginning of the next. I am so lucky that I get to be involved in 9 bonus episodes to be released once-a-month starting in July. And, at least one of the spin-offs to be released over the next couple of years. Also, when the TV show gets into pre-production, you better believe Iāll be demanding an audition.Ā
And there are other projects to keep me distracted - I mean, busy. (I donāt escape feelings of sadness and inadequacy by hiding in work and projects like Joan does, no, I definitely donāt relate to her on that level at all, and thatās sarcasm, yāall). As some of you already know, Iām collaborating with my Caleb, @briggonsnow on a digital seriesĀ @pure-theseries and my best friend Shaina (who does not exist on social media at all) on a comedy-horror podcast titled American Comedy Horror Story: Orphanage currently in post). Soā¦ there will be things. Until then, thank you to Lauren Shippen, the amazing cast and crew, and all the listeners who have given us so much love these past few years. Thank you, and I love you all!
Hey guys I just want to give a heads up. The book Adam by Ariel Schrag has been turned into a movie which has been named as one of the most exciting LGBTQ films of this year. I donāt want to spoil anybodyās fun but you should know before watching that the book is about a cis boy who pretends to be a trans man in order to persuade lesbians to sleep with him.Ā
This post has a plot summary that explains more about this concept and why itās so harmful.
It is deeply deeply transphobic. It is lesbophobic as it features a corrective rape narrative (a lesbian does have sex with him and then decides she does love men after all).Ā
Here is a review of the book by a trans man.Ā I have yet to find one by a lesbian but will edit this if I do.Ā
This book gives out incredibly harmful notions about trans men and lesbians that are used to hurt them in real life. Itās so entrenched in the narrative that I donāt see how the film can be any better. You can find more info in this twitter thread
Iād like to tell people to boycott it but I canāt tell you what to do. So instead Iām going to ask that you share this because it being named as an exciting new LGBTQ film is going to make LGBTQ teens want to see it. And they should knowĀ before hand how hurtful it could be. They should be able to arm themselves with that knowledge.Ā
I finished listening to The Bright Sessions ep 53 30 minutes ago. Im still processing it and my emotional energy is drained. Why do you do this to me Lauren?! š
This is a survey we put together to get a better idea of what the ace community thinks and how we feel. We put in some questions that we think are relevant to the ace community and will help us to put more relatable and helpful content on this blog.Ā
Whenever i see media or ads with poc in them i get this weird feeling like something isnāt right. But itās not negative. I feel happy. Itās like a proud parent seeing their child succeed and youāre like āYES!ā
