You can always find amazing deals online. Here are a few tips to be able to find these deals on your own and save a few bucks.

Coupon Codes

Most online vendors offer coupon promotions. Usually it is a coupon code that you enter in during the check out process. The important thing to remember is always check to see if there is a coupon code available at a store your shopping at. If your total is close to a higher coupon amount, add an inexpensive item to your order to bring you to a higher amount coupon. For example, if your total is $49.95 and you find a $15 off $50 coupon, add the cheapest thing you can find to push you over $50. Look for paper clips, rubber bands, and things like that. Adding these to your order will save you more money by using a bigger coupon.

Online coupons have expiration dates just like real coupons. In fact, the biggest coupons where you can get the best deals are often only valid for a few days or even a few hours. In order to get in on these kind of deals you need to move quickly.

Rebates

Rebate promotions will usually come from the manufacturer of a product, but will sometimes be from a specific store. Rebates are great because they can be combined with other offers, such as coupon codes. This can create a fantastic bargain. I've been able to use a combination of coupon codes and rebates to actually get paid money to buy a product. For example, I bought a printer/scanner combination on a $100 promotion, used a $25 off $100 purchase, and sent in for a total of $90 of rebates, for a final price of -$15.

Rebates require careful attention. Document and photocopy everything you send in for a rebate. Be sure to follow every detail in the instructions. Also note that some rebates are only valid if you buy the item at a specific store. A quick phone call or email to verify the store you are buying from could save you money down the road. If your not careful you will likely not get your rebate. They don't want to give out more money that they have to! Rebates usually will take between 6-12 weeks before you get your money.

Search for rebates on manufacturers web sites. Some stores also have a rebate center to notify you of rebate promotions.

Auctions

Online auctions are another opportunity to save money, and even make money. I do not recommend buying things from Ebay. Ebay is definately a sellers market, and there are way to many people out there that don't realize this. More often than not, you'll end up paying more for something off Ebay than if you did some careful research to find the bargains. You can find some deals, but you have to sift through a bunch of crud to find anything worthwile. Most of the time it's not worth it, unless your looking for a hard-to-find item.

A good rule of thumb is if you see a lot of people selling a particular item on Ebay, you can usually find the same item being sold for less money from somebody else. This is how Ebay sellers make money. This also means that you can make a little money by selling things on Ebay. For the small hassle of putting up an auction, collecting payment, and running to the post office, its pretty easy to make $50 or more. Do a little research before you buy something to resell on Ebay. You can search through completed auctions to get a general idea of selling prices for your auction. I usually won't bother with it unless the selling price is at least $50 or $60 more than my final price. That way, after all of the auction fees you still make a nice profit. People will still bid if you remove the UPC code to send in for a rebate. Just be sure to mention it in your auction listing. I will still advertise the item as new but will make a note that the UPC symbol has carefully been removed.

Ubid is a preferred auctiom site to buy from. Browse through the auctions to find what you want. If you find an auction your interested in, be sure to get a bid in early. If you bid at the minimum price early in the auction, you can adjust your bid to the price needed to win at the end. Your bid will be given priority because you bid earlier. I've known people to save over $100 off electronics bought from ubid.

Price Search Engines

Before you buy anything, it is always a good idea to do a quick search on a price search engine to see if you can get things as cheap, but from a better source. There are several sites out there that will list the price of a product at several different stores for comparison shopping.
