Okay so I’m going to run off with the Merlin taking baby street orphan Douxie and Archie under his wing concept (illustrated beautifully by @tenyai) and none of you guys are going to stop me.

So, here’s what I got:

Merlin was gentle, sensitive, and loving towards Douxie; whenever the kid messed up he didn’t yell or shout or get irritated – he simply took care of the mess, assuring the little one that all is well and advising him to be careful next time. Douxie absolutely adored him, and did his best to be someone Merlin could be proud of. Sure he made mistakes here and there, but they weren’t something to fear, but rather learn from. And that seemed to be good enough for the both of them.

Until Guinevere’s death. 

With her passing, a flip switches in King Arthur and he becomes harsher and crueler towards magical creatures. Magic in itself is virtually banned in Camelot. This in turn causes a chain reaction, one that affects both Merlin and Hisirdoux.

Knowing how King Arthur is now, Merlin is more critical and strict with his apprentice. The lectures begin to grow in size, as do the menial, time consuming chores. And in that time, the praise and magic lessons become scarce. Merlin pays no mind to what Douxie has to say regarding the new changes.

“Staffs are for those with mastery over magic, and magic is mastery over life.”

It breaks Douxie’s heart. He’s trying his best, really! He didn’t mean to be so slow and disorganized and clumsy. Just please, give him another chance. Give him time. He can prove himself! He’ll do better. But as the weeks go by and Merlin doesn’t change, it seems that even his better is not enough.

What he fails to realize however, is that there’s nothing wrong with him. In reality, Merlin has been trying his utmost hardest to protect the beloved apprentice this whole time… from King Arthur’s wrath.

one of my favorite moments of Trollhunters is the FIGHTING SCENES I have no idea how to explain, but it’s the small things that made me lose my shit in excitement. In example:

1x06 When Jim fights Nomura in his house, AFTER his fight with Draal. I mean Draal might have taken some of his energy and he did not even prepared for Nomura to appear but she did and he fights her anyway and deliver this SCENE:

DID YOU CATCH THAT? DID YOU CATCH HOW HE TOOK THE PAN??? Okay I’ll slow it down for you

THAT IS–SO SATISFYING. And the rest of the fight is also god damn. But this particular scene, when Jim was still new to Trollhunting, he fights with his instinct and all the knowledge he has of the current battle ground. He fights like a warrior already.

Man I’m easily satisfied but I’m not complaining. I’m so entertained by details like that lmaoooooo

Person who doesn't watch Tales of Arcadia: Why do you love this Douxie so much?

What can I say about this scene? How computer-generated pixels showed and portrayed so much emotion, for Merlin, to finally recognize his mistake in not acknowledging Douxie’s potential all along, and for Douxie to unexpectedly get the validation he’d been craving, the lack of which hurt him so much. Because he sacrificed himself to protect his friends and the world, not expecting anything from his master in the afterlife. Yet he gets it, he realizes Merlin sees the real him and recognizes his growth and greatness, and not by any attempt to impress him. It’s real and after Douxie’s adventure, losing his master, sacrificing what was left of him, then sacrificing himself, it’s so fulfilling even though he’s not fully ready to move on. Because despite his bravery, there was still a part of him that was scared. And then he could finally let go of that. And all that is just so wonderfully expressed through the animation, the lighting and soft colouring, which are so amazing and so on point for the context that I didn’t even want to change anything while making those gifs. It’s a moment of redemption, of closure, and it deserved the excellent work done by the creators.

This is just one of the moments in Wizards that will stay with me no matter how much time will pass. And I’m so grateful it exists.
