As much as pjms talk so much shit about seven not being a good song, and not deserving of it's "success" , Why does it feel like some of y'all would sacrifice good music and art in exchange for records to brag with on Twitter. Like after saying all this shit the past few weeks and calling jk a puppet, some of y'all will probably jump for joy if scooter announces that he's going to promote Jimin...

Jimin will continue to create unique album concepts, and good music that he's happy with, while also achieving great success. Lots of artists have done it, jimin did it with face and he will continue to do it.

Jimin doesn't need min heejin or scooter for promo, he achieved what those people seem to be running after without pandering to them. All that was needed was for bighit and hybe to do their fucking job.

We were not asking for "payola" all we wanted was the bare minimum...all like crazy needed was playlisting, radioplay, and for the CDs to be restocked.

I totally agree with you about the limits of comparing JK to other break out soloists. They are trying to take short cuts and forcing it. But I also think there are limits in other ways that anons have alluded to. He’s clearly talented enough. But - no shade at all - I’m not sure he has the charm/personality factor that other break outs have. I don’t really follow Harry Styles but his personality has always been just as big of a factor as his music.

JK can clearly be funny and endearing. But, as we’ve also seen in this era, he can slip into arrogance. This is in part because of these short cuts, he’s limited in what and how he talks about his music and goals. But it’s also where he’s at in his life. He talks a lot about wanting to be cool. And talking about being cool is like explaining a joke, it really weakens the desired effect. There is a lack of maturity on an individual and artistic level that contributes to these ebbs and flows. On suchwita he spoke about being a “quick learner” but by his own definition, it was more akin to being easily influenced of those around him. The members have had a positive influence on him without a doubt. But at the same time, he’s been praised as the “golden maknae” for a decade and now being told by everyone around that he is the next Michael Jackson…

Ironically, the ways in which Jimin hasn’t had these factors make him a better breakout. He’s genuine - his ambition (which we hope grows) doesn’t replace his art. His carries himself with a maturity that comes from wanting/needing to prove himself; not from thinking (or being told) he deserves something. Also he’s witty and charming. Look at the way he interacts with fans - he can be warm, sweet, flirty, sincere without going too far. Not only is this healthier - it’s more sustainable and less risky for all.

This current fast track to super stardom is short sighted, IMO. There are limits to evaluating star power only through gimmicks and payola. Plenty of artists have viral summer songs. The breakout stars people are citing put in the time and that’s why they hit not only a level of prominence but a lasting presence.
