I'm on blood thinners & have fragile skin. When I smacked my hand against the stove tonight I laid open a nasty inch-square cut on the back of my hand. Normal people have gauze pads & tape to use in such a situation. I'm stuck with a piece of a panty liner held in place with a latex glove. Times like this I wish I could still drive so I could take myself to the fucking drugstore & not need to wait for an Amazon delivery. 🙄

Artemis hit over the head and Jim being very concerned. I really love ‘Night of the Simian Terror’. The villain isn’t really a villain. Jim and Artie never really get separated. Artie wears his fringe jacket the whole time and Jim his blue suit.

Upon listening to childhood pop faves
When I was a kid I lurvved The Monkees. Watched their show religiously. Even got my parents to buy me a few of their 45s (Google it). Sang along with all of their songs, even "Auntie Grizelda." Well as best as a 7 year old could figure out the words - and without necessarily understanding their meanings.
Flash forward an awful lot of years. I'm playing Amazon's playlist of The Best of The Monkees.
Holy crap.
I finally got why Mike didn't know if he was ever coming home in "Last Train to Clarksville": he's shipping out to Vietnam.
"Pleasant Valley Sunday" described my childhood neighborhood all right (the local rock band was called "The Ivies - the sound that climbs!") but now I hear the younger generation's disgust with the older.
Several of the songs just make me cringe. Back then I thought "Look Out, Here Comes Tomorrow" was just nerves about the uncertainty of the future. Nope, it's about a two-timing SOB who doesn't want to make a choice. Whispered sexily over the break: "Mary, I love you! Sondra, I love you!" Well, "Davy, you're a prick!" In "Mary, Mary" we've got "Where you goin' to? Can I come too?" And "Where you go I will follow," and "It's not over." Mary girl, you better be goin' to court for a restraining order! And "I Wanna Be Free" is a sweet, cotton-candy ... horndog national anthem.
But then "I'm a Believer" and "Daydream Believer" come on, and it's back to the psychedelic tie-dye 60's of my childhood. And the hope that The Monkees /would\ be comin' to my town. [sigh]

Just did my 5 minutes on the treadmill. (Yeah, go ahead & laugh.) I listen to Sousa marches. SOBs who recorded "The Diplomat" damn near killed me: they took all the repeats in the trio and I had to stay on an extra minute. Bastards.
