Also why did it only come up in earnest in series three?

My guess is that while he says “everyone has something that gets them” and there were likely bugs that he had phobias about before (lice and feather mites, mostly), he wasn’t actually afraid of bugs in general until after the Iron Kingdom became a thing. A lot of insect motifs. A lot of bugs that could take over people’s minds. After peace treaties with the iron kingdom were signed but before they got amulet technology, he also started associated that motif with the burning feeling of travelling in the iron kingdom, because his two best friends were too busy to come out and also Oberon needed someone to ferry messages back and forth. And those two concepts are now linked in his brain and resulted in a phobia that he KNOWS is irrational but can hardly stop from happening.

Puck being afraid of spiders is a fun characteristic. But at the same time

This man lives in the woods. Grew up in the woods. You become one with the bugs, you know which ones are bad and which aren't. Okay and maybe he still finds them freaky, but how did it get this bad?

I know the text supports Raven-Puck as a technique he learned, but sometimes I like to think that he’s always been able to do this, since when he started having memories. And he genuinely doesn’t know if he’s a sidhe who learned how to turn into a bird or a bird who learned how to turn into a sidhe. He’s put a pin in that question for centuries and has no intention to unpack it.

Here's the thing with Ruth and Zeke. I think that Ruth is genuinely in love with Zeke, but I also think that love is inseparable from growing up in a fundie Christian holler that always assumed she'd grow up into a nice young girl and marry and have kids, because "That's What Women Do", and then she went from an isolated holler town to a nomadic fundie cult, and learned very quickly that a lot of men in the world she lives in are incredibly violent. So this teenage girl who wants to be a good woman and a good christian and is already responsible for looking after the kids in their group hones in on the one boy her age that she knows and trusts, and goes:

"That one. I'm going to marry that one."

And if Allie hadn't come along I 100% think that she and Zeke would have gotten married because it was what they were supposed to do.

So when Kanin and Jackal were estranged do y'all think Kanin tried to block their blood tie from his mind and ignore anything that reminded him that Jackal existed, or do you think he was constantly tuning into it to try to make sure his youngest was still alive.

Okay I know Jackal's line outside New Covington about "something stole my fuzzy dice" is a one-off comedic line, but also this implies that either, A) rabids have enough sentience/awareness to desire things other than food, enough to open a car door and take a soft trinket from the rearview mirror, which is both horrifying and heartbreaking, or B) people were venturing beyond the wall during a lockdown, and they saw some car show up one day, and rather than stripping the car for parts or using it to leave, they stole the fuzzy dice and nothing else.

Both of these options leave me with so many questions.

Glitch and Virus both hung out around Tertius enough to give him a nickname. Virus was the leader of unethical science, Glitch hung out in her labs, and Tertius was an unethical experiment from when Ferrum was still in charge, so she did a lot of work to keep him alive instead of a pile of goop.

Both of them take one look at Ash and decide, independently, to keep using that nickname.

For Ash, this sounds like a nightmare woman who has complete control over his body casually calling him something, finally getting to kill her, and then meeting someone with the same stature and same vocal patterns and same unsettling smile IMMEDIATELY honing in on the same nickname.

It took a while before he started liking Glitch.

I know I’ve been having Iron Fey rewrite on the mind (AFTER I finish my current multichap BoE fic) but here me out. Hear me out. Instead of doing that, I write a whole Virus-Glitch sibling prequel about the coup with Machina, with all of my headcanons about the Iron Caste System, which would be incomprehensible without a whole other document about the worldbuilding i came up with.

Society if Ash actually cut Puck’s throat open/stabbed him in the chest in iron knight and Ariella came to what she thought would be a bittersweet but closure-bringing reunion, only to see Puck bleeding out and Ash crying and apologizing over his body.

I do genuinely love how the Blood of Eden coven shows such varied opinions on their blood tie. Yes vampires commonly call each other blood family and people turned from the same sire are blood siblings, so you can imagine that there are some romantic taboos that don't come up in other vampire, fiction, but at the same time Kanin, Allie, and Jackal all have completely different takes on what that means. And it's messy. And I love it.

Robbie learning there’s a word for it would mean a lot to them. Because for most of human history and all of fae history they’ve just assumed something was wrong with them. And I feel like it wouldn’t be until post-series that they really allowed themself to accept that label, and tell Meghan “hey so you know how I feel the same way about men and women? That feeling is sexual repulsion. Which I assume is different than what you feel.”

This explains a lot about their sleepovers, in hindsight.

Meghan and Robbie’s High School relationship to me is defined by being the only queer people the other person knows, Robbie being outwardly queer to take any negative attention off of Meghan, and also the intersection of Meghan’s blooming bisexuality and Robbie’s terminal asexuality making them absolutely baffling to each other.

Meghan: girls are hot. Guys are hot. Why is everyone so hot???

Robbie: Global Warming, probably.

Virus Puck Rowan parallels as high-level officials who are willing to go “fuck divine right to rule” once it puts people they care about in danger (Separated not by their ideals but how many people they care about), and as people whose worst selves are brought out by fascination/amusement rather than anger or apathy, does so many good things in my head. Especially because Virus called out Puck specifically. She knows exactly the type of person she’s talking to and has no issues saying it.

I like to think this conversation haunts Puck long after Virus and Rowan are dealt with.

“How often have you disobeyed your king because his commands were rubbish? Goodfellow—” she pointed the scepter at Puck “—how often has the thought of rebelling crossed your mind? Don’t tell me you’ve been a faithful little monkey, catering to Oberon’s every desire, in all the years you’ve known him.” “That’s different,” I said. “Really?” Virus sneered at me. “I can tell you, it wasn’t difficult to convince Rowan. That boy’s hatred and jealousy are inspiring. All he needed was a little push, a tiny promise of power, and he betrayed everything he knew. He was the one who told me you were coming for the scepter, you know.”

Virus drawing a comparison between Rowan and Puck wasn't something I remembered but-

I do love that Virus is getting some attention. My favorite mad scientist in the whole wide world <3
