Part of the drawings me and @chechula did for our village's 2025 calendar, haha. Although my part was only to ride a bike around the village and make sketches. Trees, hills, and fields are pretty much the only interesting thing we have here :'^D

Not sure anyone on here cares but we have power at my house!!!!

No internet yet but the road crews are fixing that today so maby when I get back from work we'll be up online.

My inlaws in SC are on the local hospital power grid and only lost power for 2h Thursday.

We're in south central NC and unlike our friends in the west at Chimney Rock and Asheville we just had wind damage and minor flooding. My dad's houes, where we live, has woods with a creek running through it on both sides and that flooded the 4 acres we're on. The sump pump in the basement did good until we lost power b/c of trees but we have a 2nd drain system down there so we only had a couple cm in one area on the floor. The farmer whose property surrounds our house is going to lose half his last rotation of sweet potatoes though, he was able to harvest 1/2 early but the rest are done.

Our good friend, Bob, in Chimney Rock lost his entire art studio/ gallery in the mt. artist enclave he was living at. He's a watercolor artist and some of his paintings have been completely destroyed but hes finding stuff that survived and is very hopeful. He's in a better head space than alot of folks, growing up and living by the coast in SC you get good at rolling with what the wether throws at you. He's lucky b/c several home around him where knocked off their foundation and are sitting splintered in the river. But every one we know is ok physically. This pictures are Bob's from Chimney Rock NC, he was on the top floor of his house, the last pic is from 3 days after the water receded.

I took a creative writing course in grad school b/c I still had to have 1 language art's class a semester and was done with class like "Political Violence and Modernity".

The professor was like brake your paragraph when it feels right, your editor will bitch at you but the best works tend to be loos with conventional grammatical "rules". (He did actual air qouts fam.)

i think people who complain about paragraphs being too long should just read/write screenplays instead. some of us actually enjoy reading

Can you please elaborate on the Stephen Colbert RPF thing. This is a judgment free zone I’m just deathly curious

Ah yes well you see Stephen Colbert used to play a parody of a Fox News pundit on a show called The Colbert Report (American news satire program popular in the late 00s/early 10s). The character was explicitly a closeted gay man who was driven to conservatism due to his own insecurity/internalized homophobia. He had a homoerotic relationship with Jon Stewart whom he pretended to hate but had several romantic moments with.

When their shows ended they wrote a soft epilogue for their fictionalized selves where they retire to a cabin in the woods together and it’s implied they’re married now. The most beautiful self-written rpf of all time.

It was a beautiful slow burn self-written rpf that unfolded over, like, 10 years they worked together? It started as a joke but ended up being a genuine canon part of the fictionalized Stephen Colbert? I’m not joking.
