After having lived in proximity to or inside of cities with progressive mayors who eventually got sucked into being another do-nothing, bootlicking, cop loving neolib for the democrats, I have some very serious skepticism around electoral politics, even at the mayoral level.

The amount of Islamophobia Mamdani experienced is incredible though. The portrayals of him in darker skin with a longer beard is racist as fuck. I'm not a celebrity worship type of person but what Stephen Colbert did during his interview with Mamdani was shocking. Asking an AMERICAN about Israel's right to exist when running for mayor in an AMERICAN city is foreign agent shit. No other country gets talked about this way. Why the ever loving fuck should anyone ever have to run cover for a genocidal apartheid regime?? If history is going to be portrayed accurately, that interview should be played in classrooms as a demonstration of how backward we are at this moment.
