Fred Hoyle rejected the big bang theory, but ironically coined the term. This is a copy of what he said on BBC Radio on March 29th 1949 when he was the first to call it a ‘big bang’. [Printed in early April ‘49 in The Listener] [more].

His soul swooned slowly as he heard the snow falling faintly through the uni­verse and faintly falling, like the descent of their last end, upon all the liv­ing and the dead.
