Grabbing a drink before seeing @dearevanhansen at the Orpheum. Came in on the day @belle_tavern received their bottles of Roaming Man Tennessee Straight Rye Whiskey. 2 years old and 123 proof it’s got a nice taste. On the nose I picked up an almost creamy peanut butter aroma. There is a nice sweet, creamy spice on the tongue. It doesn’t have a strong burn or spicy finish that lingers. When you ask what to try and you are given this, you say thank you! @saintcloudbourbon batch one is incredible for a younger new bourbon. Sweet caramel and fruit hints on the nose. The palate is it peppery but finishes sweet. Some drink shots I don’t think that were shared that are worthy of such. We tried so many good cocktails made with great bourbons and whiskies. I didn’t try to the @knobcreek smoked old fashioned but was cool to watch. @blackenedamericanwhiskey Mama Said Lemonade was really good. However my favorites, not pictured sadly, was @kentuckypeerless peach tea! The @makersmark slushee one a lifesaver with the heat and enjoyed a Jack and Coke icee as well, also not pictured. Yes another distillery trip post but my last tour to share. We did one a day, visited a few just for drinks a few times. So much to do and see, I can’t wait to get back to explore more! @evanwilliamsbourbon Experience Tour was very cool. It was a walk through the decades with the story of Evan Williams bourbon. @jimbeamdistillery part 2 We had the opportunity to bottle our own @knobcreek single barrel bourbon, which of course I did! Sped up the video to posts and ended with stamping the wax with my own thumb print. Pretty cool experience! The tasting was great as we tried 2 and then had the chance to pick our own third. April and I chose Booker’s (126.7 proof) and Baker’s 7 Year (107 proof). @oldforester was an amazing facility and very cool tour. Was able to see first hand some of the steps the oak barrels go through before they get to hold the bourbon to age it. Watching the barrel get charred very cool and testing for any possible leaks. Very nice tasting at the end! Our guide shared some cool tips I hadn’t heard before when tasting so picked up something new. . Other than the basics for what makes a bourbon a bourbon, each tour is very different and makes their own special in their own way. I have so much to share but highlights today waiting in the hot ass sun for tasting spots in two different bourbon panels today but totally worth it! Pappy 15 and hearing the backstory on the brand from the family was awesome! Another tasting panel included masters of maturation from @michterswhiskey and @makersmark as well as director over the wood for Brown-Foreman. We had the pleasure of sampling a new Maker’s that has only been tried by the production crews. It doesn’t even have a label yet part of their oaks series that is 108.2 proof. Was actually very nice! I really enjoyed the Michter’s Toasted Barrell sour mash which is 86 proof. Also walked away with some extra goodies they handed out at the end.
