Steady my heart by Kari Jobe
Wish it could be easy Why is life so messy Why is pain a part of us There are days I feel like Nothing ever goes right Sometimes it just hurts so much But You're here You're real I know, I can trust You Even when it hurts Even when it's hard Even when it all just falls apart I will run to You Cause I know that You are Lover of my soul Healer of my scars You steady my heart (x2) I'm not gonna worry I know that You got me Right inside the palm of your hand Each and every moment What's good and what gets broken Happens just the way that You plan And I will run to You And find refuge in Your arms And I will sing to You Cause of everything You are You steady my heart (x2)

Let your Christianity be so unmistakable, your eye so single, your heart so whole, your walk so straightforward, that all who see you may have no doubt whose you are, and whom you serve.

Hair spa experience.
Here it is. We arrived at Phyto Hair Science@Wheelock. Before starting, they brought us into a room for consultation. The consultant, Lynda was a pleasant lady. However, she really did amuse us with her history-taking. She asked me what I was allergic to - figuring that not everyone knows about drug names, I told her certain drugs, and guess what? She wrote down allergic to drugs(medications)! I caught Su trying to hold back her eyeball from rolling and I was trying to keep the laughter in. However, she did have quite gd knowledge about hair, so we need to give that to her. She told us that we needed more sleep, protein, vit B complex and lots of water (oops!). Each hair follicle has approx 20-25 life cycles and each lifespan is about 3-4 yrs (can be shorter or longer depending on how healthy the follicle is). The consult was pretty long, close to an hr (but much of it was Lynda "wowing" at our hair and asking her colleagues to come in to see the "specimens") It felt gross looking at our magnified scalp but it was interesting to see how oily and clogged the hair follicles were. I was really glad to have Su with me as we made it funny - we told them we are long-hair friends and how doing this long-hair journey together really helps. What I was rather surprised at was how amazed people are at our hair, and not in a bad way! The lady doing the treatment for me (Cindy, from Shenyang) was so jealous at how our hair can grow so long. She has been wanting long hair but she told me that her hair cannot grow so long without getting really dry. Su chatted with her therapist as well (Gladys from Malaysia). Knowing that Su works in the church, she told her that she attended church when she was young and she can still remember some of the songs as they left a deep impression. The 1.5 hr long treatment was simply shiok - massage from the head to the neck all the way to the waist with essential oils (I could get used to this..haha..if not for the cost). Overall, we had so much fun, laughing and chatting with the therapists and it was a very pleasant experience. We were constantly trying to help them carry our hair around and to our surprise, they gave our long hair a full wash and conditioning in a very professional manner. My take from this experience is that if we are comfortable with what we have, people will feel comfortable as well:) Just makes me want to upkeep my hair and make it beautiful to reflect God's glory:)

Thank you for tribulations
Romans 5:3-4 (KJV) 3And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; 4And patience, experience; and experience, hope:

Reflections: Shepherding
Watched "Shepherds of Paradise" on a flight home. It's a film about a 75 yo shepherd who brings his family from Jammu to the valley of Kashmir every year in a 300km journey that spans approx 30 days. It makes me cry when I see the great lengths that the shepherd goes through just to lead his flock to green pastures. The shepherd speaks of how he was once young, but is now old. But the young ones today are born with "old souls" who are not willing to make the journey. It makes me think about how we can be a selfish generation today, who sees obstacles rather than possibilities. How many are willing to take up the tough work of shepherding souls? The shepherd is both strong and gentle with his sheep. This is best described by Psalm 23:4, "...thy rod and thy staff they comfort me." His rod shuns away predators and prods the sheep into position while his staff hooks a sheep back when it is about to stray off or is caught in brambles. The sheep feel safe under the shepherd's watchful eye and swift arms. The shepherd's mind is ever on his sheep. He worries if they are able to make the journey, especially the injured and sick ones. The shepherd and his flock had to walk through the treacherous Pir Panchal range of mountains to reach the valley of Kashmir. Reminds me of the scripture. "though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear to evil" (Psalm 23:4). We do not have to fear because the Shepherd is with us

Thank You for being My Shepherd
"thy rod and thy staff they comfort me" (Psalm 24:4)
Your rod shuns away predators and keeps the enemies at bay
Your staff rounds me up into the flock, guides me, brings me back when I stray off and rescues me from dangerous situations
